I gave up drinking milk in May 1995. What I've learnt since then is that:
1) Your teeth enamel gets weaker, especially if you are stupid enough to drink soft drinks (soda in the US) and you don't brush with an electric, floss and use mouthwash twice a day
2) You get plenty of milk in your everyday diet through cheese, cream, and products made with milk - you don't need to drink it directly
3) Milk is a mild sedative. Without it you are more aggressive - which is why the West promotes it so much
A lot of people get offended about this. I believe the main reason we drink milk is because those who profit from it just say it is good for you and that we should drink it. It sounds good in theory, however if we go deeper and see how our body reacts to it we can see how milk can actually be an antinutrient. Whatever the case I'd say it's your body and if you want to drink it then go right ahead. I just wish we treated the cows
I have always been a huge dairy person. I have also suffered from chronic lower back pain for the past 8 years. Some mornings I would be in tears and could barely get dressed. I decided to stop all dairy, and in 3 days, my back pain was gone. All those years of suffering and who would have thought it was dairy? I know it's dairy because I have experimented and when I do consume it, the pain comes right back. When we age, it's harder and harder to digest the casein (protein). Dairy=inflammation.
I've suffered with acne for over ten years, tried everything to get rid of it including seeing a dermatologist and taking powerful anti-biotics with nasty side effects. The cause of acne are your hormones which make your oil gland go overactive and unfortunately hormones in our food do affect some genes for some individuals. Milk is loaded with estrogen. When I gave up dairy my acne cleared up. I have a hunch that it causes a lot more problems than just acne. Avoid food with hormones.
Milk is an animal protein; it seeps calcium from your bones because animal protein causes a higher amount of acid to be produced. So really, it does the opposite of what the dairy companies say.
Question my uncle owns a organics farm, on weekends I go up there and drink raw milk and sometimes I add whey to it. Are you saying it's unhealthy to drink my uncle's milk? Did to know.
@fcarabat Dairy milk is good for you too. Almond water tastes like shit. I call it water because milk only comes from either animals or human females after child birth.
This is all bullshit. I come from Denmark and we drink a lot of milk. People dont get any bad bones. We have strong bones and there is nothing to prove that its bad. Scientists will send out crap reports like this because they wasted their time. In order to get more money they have to show findings so that they can continue their search. You will find just as many reports that show its healthy. I know this because I work in a lab. Its sad but truth. If I find nothing my government close my lab.
I enjoy the way the narrator pronounces Mil-K. with a very loud K. Hahah.
I heard that eeting too much animal protein leeches the cowsemen out of the marrow of our bones, making our bones brittle and porous. It is good to know that I do not have to drink milk in order to get enough cowsemen to replace that which gets leeched out of my bones.
Need more cowsemen? Want to prevent Irritable Bow-Wow Syndrome? Eet more leafy green vege !
@SampleArtist91 In all the times I hung out at gramma and grandpa's farm, I've NEVER seen adult cows mutually sucking offa each other nipps. Which goes to show that only cow calfs need their momma's milk. We Humans should not be drinking cow's milk.

@wjestick Funny, this list doesn't present the numerous detriments cow's milk presents to humans. It would be well worth researching sources that are not funded by the dairy industry. It just might convince you that this short list of benefits you presented here just isn't worth the risk, especially when they can be obtained from other sources that DO agree with human physiology. @wjestick No amount of processing (or lack thereof) can remove the protein that is inherently present in cow's milk that is responsible for certain allergic reactions and inflammation in the human body, resulting in muscle weakness among other problems. I have been part of a study for the past few months where I have eliminated milk products from my diet and essentially eradicated chronic back pain that had previously plagued me since childhood. Your statement of processing/lack of processing is just wrong!
Raw milk contains all the enzymes and bacteria necessary for its digestion. Lactobacillus will digest lactase even in the lactose intolerant.(e.g. my sister)
IF you have a casein allergy, that is bad luck, there are as you say, other calcium sources.
Don't demonize raw milk for those who can benefit from it.
@wjestick So...I'm trying to figure out, exactly, what "you don't get it" has to do with your opinion of the movie Forks Over Knives. Maybe you can help me out here. Feels a little adversarial (probably my fault, but still...)
@wjestick By the way, I can NOT tell you how much better I feel since I've stopped eating dairy (the kind the industry wants me to be eating, anyway).

@Taxidriver987 That is THE correct response. Humans don't even drink human breast milk after a certain age. Whose idea was it to think that the milk of another animal would somehow be good or better for humans, much less adult humans?

@22poopoo lol yeah indian! well i go for ghee (clarified butter) instead of any milk. ghee is processed to the extent that its free from most troublesome issues of any kind of milk (any kind) be it hormones or something else.
@invisagod666 Yes, I think I'll get some ghee, or make some from good butter, only thing is I have never found organic ghee in this country. I know that it is very highly respected in India, here lots of Indians now buy "vegetable ghee" I think that's silly, doesn't that just make it oil? haha I think the casein in dairy apart from butter and ghee is another problem: gives me acne, but so does grains.
@22poopoo vegetable ghee is hydrogenated oil.. cant compare it with ghee really.. well growth hormones are legal in india so i would guess plenty of ghee is made from such milk.. but thankfully i get no issues from such ghee which i do from milk ( raw or not).

if calves were fed pasteurised homogenised milk they wouldn't survive long - Fact!
Humans don't need cow milk, her CALF NEEDS THE MILK !
The process of homogenisation hides the blood & pus which comes from overmilking the cow to the point she gets mastitis.
1 day old Bobby calves are taken away & killed so humans can steal the milk. The distressed mother bellows for her baby for days
Artificially inseminated again a few months later to keep the process going - disgusting dairy industry

Research Raw Milk from grass fed caws in certified farms.
1. Raw milk contains bacteria that digest lactase, so many lactase intolerant people can digest it.
2. Phosphotase aids calcium absorption
3. Vitamins A, B6, B12, C, D are intact
4. The fat is HDL "good cholesterol"
Many other benefits, including interferon, anti-bodies, gut flora.
Well worth researching.

It just might convince you that this short list of benefits you presented here just isn't worth the risk, especially when they can be obtained from other sources that DO agree with human physiology. Cow's milk is great...if you're a calf. Unfortunately, it simply has no place in the human body.
JamesMorlan 4 months ago
@JamesMorlan
You are several thousand years late with that objection. I think you are also looking at the wrong conspiracy.
The health problems arise from pasteurisation and homogenisation.
Pasteurisation is favoured by big dairy because it extends shelf life, boosts profits, and drives down the price they pay to producers.
Homogenisation causes cardiovascular problems, as the crushed fat cells are able to enter the bloodstream.
RAW milk does not have these problems.
Do some research!

JamesMorlan 4 months ago
@JamesMorlan
You don't get it so I will spell it out. Big corporations have taken control of food production.
Vegan diets often lack essential nutrients because the vegetables are grown in depleted soils.
This is not a fault of the diet, but the production methods. Meat & dairy production has many of the same problems.
Organic methods remove some toxins, but often fail to replace the trace elements.
This is by design drug companies need sick people. GM crops is the other elephant in the room

@invisagod666 Oh no hydrogenated, that's the worst.
