Hi, My Name is Lacy and thank you so much for this very informative tutorial.

My question is, can this tutorial be used to create, let say Platinum, Bronze, Gold or some other metal skin effect?

    Thanks. My email is lacysmith9545@att.net

Also, can you provide the written instructions for this effect? If so, I would greatly appreciate it and thanks again

    Thank you again..:D

  • @flightrj1209 You're welcome. I'm happy you could use it:)

And like I say in the video, you have to change the values for every picture, to get a good result. But you got that:)

I do have more tutorials, just check out my channel:)

  • Good work i learn alot of things forom this leson

  • do you have cs5?

  • @devonyea100 yes, I'm using CS5

  • @TheHanekam MUCH BETTER RIGHT,I PURCHASED MY FIRST PHOTO EDITING SOFTWARE ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO AND I LOVE ALL OF IT FEATURES BUT I STILL GOT A WAYS TO GO,I BARELY KNOW THE FUNCTIONALITIES OF MY CANON REBEL T2I,,,,LOL

  • @devonyea100 There are sooo many features, that you can't master them all.

One thing at a time, and before you know it, your skills will have improved drastically. Good luck:)

  • @TheHanekam thx where can i see some of your work

  • @devonyea100 I have a photography website, with some of my photographs. Not all of them have been strongly edited in Photoshop though. You're welcome to take a look at it:)

    luckyfoto.blogspot.com

  • @TheHanekam just ordered a bamboo pen tablet i see its a must for photoshop i was wondering how people were so seemingly accurate, the mouse makes it take forever but im still catching on hopefully this pen tablet will take me to a higher level, that chick gill is really good and so are you,ill check your site out

  • @devonyea100 Actually I don't have a pen tablet, I use my touch pad mouse, and am used to that now:)

  • is that you with the short red here on your blog site, nice work

  • @devonyea100 Yup that's me. Thanks:)

  • I love it. Thanks for the tutorial

  • I love it, I took everything step by step and with exact same numbers, but it doesn't show me that kind of effect here, just the lights are too bright, or maybe my photography isn't that good, well thanks anyways

  • @Azeckwazion Need any help? let me know. I was able to find the exact picture on google, and it came out exactly the same when i was done. I hope u figure it out.

  • @Azeckwazion The numbers I use for this specific picture, will not give the same result on other pictures. That's why I say several times in the video, that you have to play around with the numbers for each picture you use, to get the best result:)

  • waw....love it....thanks...

  • wow really nice!!! looks like lucisart plugin effect.. :)

  • I really enjoyed the Tutorial! :D

  • Wow nice tutorial mam....really i searchin for tiz one.....now i got it by u.....Thank u....<3

  • nevermind i got it

  • i cant do the 50% grey my computer i have a PC select both the image and the layer mask... how can i get it to select just the mask

  • Download complete version of "Joey L Tutorial Behind The Scenes The Complete Tutorial " free just visit: eTutor.cz.cc

  • Hi, i really like the tutorial one thing about the fill to adjust the 50% gray color of mask layer. i am using mac would you mind to tell what is the short cut key for that? thanks..

  • @heinrichmack I have never used Mac, so I have no idea what the shortcut might be, sorry. Try to make a google search for mac shortcuts for photoshop. I'm sure you can find what you're looking for.

  • useful tutorial...tried it and quite happy with the result. thanks a lot

  • Very nice!

  • Very helpful thanks for posting. Do you have any suggestions for cleaning up indoor location photography. I've used part of the Dave Hill look and the Dragan effect. They work in some cases but not all. Any suggestions?

  • Not really that good, sorry

  • @NixxerJixxerWixxer Download complete version of "Joey L Tutorial Behind The Scenes The Complete Tutorial " free just visit: eTutor.cz.cc

  • very nice, quite helpful. thank you so much of your time in making this

  • Absolutely brilliant! Thank you so much for this :)

  • Thank you! first vid i've been able to find that actually explains step by step and in english which is a bonus when you cant speak gemrna/polish like most the vids for these tutorials

    cheers x

  • thanks!!...that was easy!!!...good tutorial!!

  • The only problem with this tutorial is that you can't go back and tweak any settings since you've merged the layers and you'd have to lose all your work when you go back. Is there a non destructive way to add all the filters to layers?

  • Yap. I like it.

  • a very quick and useful tutorial. THANKS !

  • Thanks. Made an action of it. Helpful little exercise. Helpful little tool.

  • Thank you for putting this together. I'll try it tonight and post the results on my blog. I've been wanting to learn this for a while now but I didn't know how to describe it.

  • Thank you for putting this together. I'll try it tonight and post the results on my blog. I've been wanting to learn this for a while now but I didn't know hot to describe it.

  • great tutorial...thanks:)... you can make your own shortcut key(.alt+shift+ctrl+k)

make your own to the contrast/lightnig:)

    this is in cs5 =)

  • Marvelous! Thank you so much! Very nice tutorial, great step by steps. The only thing I could critique is that the microphone quality isn't the best, but it is adequate. Thanks again.

  • @FoxWins You're very welcome. Happy you found it usefull :-)

Yes, I know the sound isn't the best. But try using headphones, that will most likely make it louder:-)

  • very nice... thank you for sharing...

  • Good clear tutorial.....thanks

  • thank you for sharing miss. 2 thumbs up!

  • Thank you for sharing.

  • Cool

  • Thanx a lot :-)

  • really nice! thanks

  • Great and clear Tutorial! Thank you...Finally someone explains it simply for folks like me!!!

    AWESOME

  • Thanks for this great TUT

  • Very nice... :P

  • Well I just tried it w/o and it seemed okay. Thanks again for taking the time to put this together (even if it was a year ago! LOL!)

  • Wow okay so I am about into day 2 of trying this and have everything down until I am now stuck because the Mac version, Elements 9, there is no "smart object" in the layers portion and there is no "right click". So I guess I am a little stuck which stinks because I am almost at the end of your tutorial!

I found writing this tutorial, step by step the easiest way to understand and follow it. Just a word of advice for new users like me!

  • Your good, very concise, clear and no messin'....you should do more, plus you would make a great tutor, well done.

  • @Mpathize thank you very much for your kind words, much appreciated:-) I do have a couple more tutorials here, check them out:-)

  • Thank You soooooo muchh!!! i've been lookinq for this for alooooonq time!! Thank you!!!!!!

  • @XxElPrincxX You're very welcome, happy you finally found it:-)

  • great tutorial, thanks!!!

  • i like it..... i will try it now :)

  • original was much better than remaken )

  • I just check out his website and there lots of amazing photos and there are lots of photo that look rather like animation or cartoon drawing. Its cool but at the same time its weird.

  • cool

  • good video

  • Good Job! English+easy to follow=Like!

  • thanks very for this video,it helps a lot!

  • great video. but the idle chat is annoying.. like when u are talking to yourself.. Thanks for posting

  • @session036 talking to myself?? LOL .But glad you like it, none the less.

  • @session036 She was talking to US. You want professional "talk at you" people? Go watch The news.

    @TheHanekam Fantastic tutorial! Thanks!

  • thank you this was a beautiful tutorial, and very well instructed. thank you for teaching.

  • @crbt99 You're very welcome, glad you like it:-)

  • Thank you for this Video!

  • good job.

can u make a tutorial about jill greenberg effect.

    thank a lot

  • A lot easier to follow in English. Thanks. Any suggestions on optimal lighting/things to avoid with lighting when taking the portraits of people? Example: should I avoid strong contrasting light/shadows across the subject's face? Thanks again and great explanation.

  • @PwaiChung Glad you like it:-)

I'm not a professionel photographer, so about lighting, I can't really give any professionel advise. You can use strong contrasting light/shadows across the face, depending on the result you're looking for. It can actually give a quite interesting effect.

  • AWESOME! great help!!! :D

  • i am trying to do this now & i hope it works ur steps are easy to follow thanks.

  • Great job! Thanks...

  • we have the same version of photoshop (but mine is in italian language)! :D your video is very good and clear, i learned a lot, thank you. greetings from italy :)

  • @sandwichandguitarboy I'm glad you liked it and was able to follow. Greetings from Denmark:-)

  • cool video .. i love it and its so clear ...and by the way you can make your own keyboard shortcuts for the brightness /contrast to go to windows and workspace then to keyboard shortcut and menus u can add for the brightness ur own shortcut .. i hope its not too late ?..

  • @daliaalameen Thank you, I'm glad you like it.

I know how to make your own personal keyboard shortcuts, but didn't use them in the tutorial, as it would probably confuse those who don't know how:-)

  • Very good job. Great effect, very understandle explanations. Thank you so much.

  • @Tinkersox You're very welcome. Happy you like it:-)

  • i just jizzed my pants. this tutorial is hawt

  • @MangaMontana LOL, thanks:-)

  • thanks for posting this... i was trying to figure out other uses for the high pass and this was helpful

    thanks!

  • can you creat a tutorial like the skin tone in mens magazine?

  • That is really nothing like Dave Hills work. Dave's effect is created with lighting, not with photoshop. It's merely tweaked in PS.

  • this... foolish tutoriall.....

    jajajajaj jk good one

  • thank s i liked it a lot

  • thank you, very helpful....

  • I like it!

  • Alt+I+A+C :) and I like it

  • Alt+I+A+C :)

  • no way near dave hill. you basically posterize the image. original looks more DH than the edit. All this blurring and overusing highpass is destroying your image and the details. DH is all about details and sharpness.

  • @Arkastu why dont you show your own version of DH? instead of saying some shit here?

  • @JBtheMassacre I agree:-)

  • Thank you!

  • Love it!

  • got it thanks =)

  • can you also do this in CS3? because i cant do the brush thing..i cant remove the blur effect on the eyes nose lips etc..need a lil help here thanks =)

  • @chicoh09 Sure you can; the mask tool should be available in all versions of PS I think. Be sure to have black selected as your foreground color, and be sure to have the mask active, meaning click on it. Then you should'nt have any problems:-) It's a pretty simple function and very useful to know:-)

  • thank you very much for sharing this.

  • @sma9009 You're very welcome. Happy you like it:-)

  • It s the first one that really worked for me, big up? Gotta blog or something

  • @StraightShit I'm happy you could use it:-) I have no blog or website.

  • great tut!!!!! best yet

  • Thank you. At the end I finally got it. It happens when English is not your language :)

I love the tutorial and the result is excellent! Thank you for shearing. Greetings from Spain!

  • @saltamontes55 you are very welcome, happy you like it :-) gretings from me here in Denmark:-)

  • I have a problem. When I click on CTR+I nothing happens and I have CS4. Is there any other way to do it? 2:03

  • @saltamontes55 . It is Ctrl+E not I, like I say in the video. That is the shortcut for Layer-----> merge layers.

  • It is great! I will try to do it :)

  • nice work :)

  • you did a god job

  • it was nice and informative. thank you
