  • Awesome. My problem is that I can't find clothes that fit. Any idea how to make a pattern from scratch?

  • thanks for the idea... you were right that its hard to find a trouser that would perfectly fit... will try making a trouser one of these days... :) please share more videos... :)

  • Thank You. Uhm I have 2 sewing patterns that I was not able to find in my size how do I make the fabric and pattern smaller from a size 6 to a size 4 or 2

  • omg she sounds exactly like heidi klum... is this project runway?

  • This video would be fine, except for the fact that the whole reason I'm trying to learn pattern making is because I am unusually proportioned and I CAN'T FIND CLOTHES THAT FIT IN THE FIRST PLACE. This is not helpful at all.

  • Thanks for the video. I didn't sew for a long time until my husband started encouraging me to just dive in. I struggled with understanding patterns and struggled with little imperfections in my sewing. I started sewing just the way you are advising, but much simpler pieces. This video encourages me to go a little further.

  • I couldn't even wantch the whole video because her voice was sooooo annoying!

  • good idea. (i don't hear any accent at all by the way, i don't know what you people are talking about).

  • Hello Ms. Obvious!!! We know this can be done. I was really hoping you'd teach us how to make patterns on my own from scratch. But good video, easy to understand and simple. Thanks.

  • this is great !!!!

  • Thanks!

  • Newspaper works just fine if you use red pen so that it shows up! To reduce the creasing, just iron it. I actually do this with store-bought patterns as well.

  • loser. you suck

  • THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH!

  • hey thanks for these tips :)

how did i not think to just go off my own clothes :S haha

  • What about for a shirt or dress?

  • Great video. I'm new to sewing but I'm looking forward to my first project - wish me luck :)!

  • @owldat Good luck :)

  • maybe use old pants that fit good still but old(faded, take apart and then trace:)

  • Oh no you cant trace trousers like that and if you did, you would be walking like a cowboy! Apart from that use greace proof paper for patterns, easy to see through and you wont get newspaper smudges on your fabric.

  • Also, i find newspaper a bit creas-y to use for this method, and think christmas or bday wrapping would be better.

Other than that, good vid . And i really like her accent- IT's clear and pretty! ( although i don't see how relevant that is to anything. Seriously, everybody lay off the expert village instructors - it's free instruction + I'm sure they're all doing their best.

  • I think it'd be best to look at each fabric piece, and copy the shapes separately. Tracing around isn't going to always work because the certain areas of the clothes ( like the part of trousers which go in at the crotch) don't really lie flat, and so you have to improvise a little. Also, you need to pay attention to the placement and length of darts, or the clothes aren't going to fit nearly as well as the originals.

  • why are you guys tressing about her accent when she's trying to teach something else? you people are idiots... finding fault in every little thing... are you perfect? you probably have a huge mole in your butt hole...

  • Exactly

PPl are way too critical of other ppl's appearance

How; btw, does one do a HOOD I wonder ???

  • @ausendundeinenacht i have a video for that

  • @MissDJ In bulk at your comment :)

  • Comment removed

  • This was not at all helpful, very frustrating, you can not just spread out pants and get a patern, the back pannels have a curve for the butt. This vid is useless.

  • wax paper

  • she talks weird

  • @thegothprincess16 ahahaha I thought exactly the same

  • this is very good advice!!!

  • she's trying to hide her accent. Can't you tell that?

  • very good your video,

PLEASE , SHOW HOW TO MAKE A BASIC BLOUSE.

  • if you wanna make a basic blouse u should probably buy a pre made pattern :o much easier

  • Hottie and she sounds like a sweet person too

  • lmao, wtf

  • You can find pattern paper at any large fabric/sewing store.

  • Where can I find pattern paper?

  • you can just use large sheets of tracing paper and you can find any crafts at joanns only! dont go to WALMART!! they dont have everything like they say they do

  • @luvhilaryduff34 joanns is a great store i get my knitting things from there but i might get some sewing patterns also

  • what i like to use is some cheap Christmas wrapping paper, sometimes they have graphing on the back ;)
