Anyone familar with that awesome Terrence Mann song "Power of the Night" from 1986's movie "Critters"? and for anyone who has the full song of that, someone make a Catwoman TAS video set to it
Golden Age/Earth 2 Selina Kyle/Catwoman and Bruce Wayne/Batman ended up married to each for 20 years until Selina's death which got their daughter Helena Wayne to become the Huntress.
Did you know when she first wore the green costume, she was competing with Batgirl for Batman's love by being a crimefighter? Batman realized that Catwoman was in love with her, and Robin said that everybody knew that except Batman. Catwoman tried to get Batman to marry her. Her internal dialogue also showed that she really was in love with him too. Therefore, it wasn't just an act.
The only thing that I disliked about the BTAS version of Selina Kyle/Catwoman is that she didn't seem to have any romantic attraction to Bruce Wayne at all. She was like just some nice guy friend to her. She was in love with Batman without having a clue that he was Bruce Wayne. In the comics, Selina would notice similarities between Batman and Bruce Wayne.
@fomalhauto That was actually something I love about it. Batman and Catwoman have a lot in common, but Bruce and Selina are very different. Selina loves being Catwoman, she lives for the thrill and danger. Bruce actually hates being Batman, its a guilty burden he feels he has to bare.
The new Catwoman comic book series has her depicted as being strongly attracted to both Batman and Bruce Wayne even though she doesn't know that they are one and the same.
Also...since Batman revealed her identity to Selina/Catwoman, she was mainly showed as addressing Batman as "Bruce" when there was nobody around. Her internal dialogue also showed her as thinking of Batman as Bruce. I believe that Catwoman had an equal attraction to both Batman and Bruce Wayne.
@fomalhauto And worth noting with the new movie coming out: in the Knightfall story acr that introduced Bane, when Catwoman encountered the Jean Paul Valley Batman for the first time, she instantly realized it wasn't the same person based on small nuances like how he smelled and reacted to her. So there is a deeper connection.
Yeah...I know about Catwoman was the first to know that when Jean Paul Valley Batman was not the original Batman. She told him that the original Batman wreaked of biochemical attractants and that he was almost sterile. She pretty much knew because she didn't feel attraction to Jean Paul. I always use that to make a point that Catwoman's attraction to Batman goes well beyond the costume.
I never thought of Catwoman as unbalanced and semi-disturbed except for Michelle Pfeiffer's version. In the later comics, Catwoman did come from dark roots including her mother committing suicide and her father drank herself to death, and her being in some type of orphanage as well as her prostitute past. Before that, she was an abused wife.
@fomalhauto You really can't be a person who dresses up and jumps off rooftops without being a bit unbalanced. That applies to Batman too, and that is why the two of them share that chemistry. But their motivations for doing so are totally different, which makes them such a dynamic couple.
well.....when you put it that way, I have to agree with you about both Batman and Catwoman being a bit unbalanced....especially when both Catwoman and Batman don't even have superpowers like Superman and Spider-Man. I definitely agree with the points about the chemistry and the dynamic couple.
In the 1940's, Selina was also in love with Bruce and attempted to go straight until she discovered that he really wasn't in love with her but doing a favor for Batman. Of course, she didn't know that Bruce and Batman were one and the same.
In the comics, Selina Kyle/Catwoman was romantically interested in Bruce Wayne and not just Batman. In the 1980's comics, Bruce and Selina had a relationship.
TAS came far closer than any other media to capturing their relationship. She's in love with Batman, not Bruce Wayne. And as both Bruce and Batman, he would like to be with her, but there is that divide between them; she is just unable to give up being on the opposite side of the law. But even then, she can do good when she chooses to, which is why he never gives up on her.
I am hoping they will base some of the story of the upcoming movie off the Knighfall storyline of my childhood. Catwoman played a loose role in it: I mainly remember that when she first heard that Bane had "broken" Batman she refused to believe it, and then acted concerned when she saw pics of the Jean-Paul Valley Batman. And when they met for the first time, she instantly realized it wasn't the same person under the mask.
Good point about Catwoman instantly realizing it wasn't the same person under the mask. Catwoman's attraction to Batman was beyond the costume. She said that the real Batman wreaked of biochemical attractants and said that Jean-Paul Valley was almost sterile in them. In other words, she was highly attracted to the real Batman but not at all attracted to Jean-Paul valley Batman. The connection that she felt was with Bruce as Batman, and so she wouldn't be attracted to just any Batman
@metal87power Not true. Catwoman can be a villan but she's helped Batman a lot of times. She's a what some people call a Vixen. It's when a girl is a super hero and a villan. They're sort of in between. You understand?
@masteroftheassassins She is not a pure villain. She is unbalanced and semi-disturbed, to be sure. But she is not demented like the Joker or Two Face, and when she puts her mind to it she is perfectly capable of doing good. This is why Batman never gives up on her-he keeps hoping she can be rehabilitated. And they understand each other on a level others can't.
@masteroftheassassins The divide between the, is more than just the law, also. Selina Kyle enjoys being Catwoman-she is addicted to the thrill and danger of it and revels in her dual identity. Bruce Wayne actually hates being Batman-he does it out of guilt over his parent's death and, and he hates having to face the madness and evil of Gotham over and over. This is why Selina is more drawn to Batman than to Bruce.
Good point. Catwoman hasn't been a villain in the comics since the end of the 1970's. She even was a crimefighter in the mid 1980's. Since the late 1980's, she's been at worst an anti-hero. She was mostly reformed in the 2000 Brubaker Catwoman comic years. She was more of a hero than anti-hero then. In the new comic book, Catwoman is a bit of an anti-hero.
I agree with all the rest of the comments, but I really think this is more Bruce's POV. He's the one who shouldn't be doing that because she's a criminal. It still works, but that's just my opinion. Great job!
Cool video. Have to admit I preferred the blonde TAS 1 design to the TNBA redesign.

I just want to clarify that the green costume Catwoman was in the late 1960's comic books.
