it might have been better to put his cage next to the other birds cage, the stress of being alone can hinder his healing process...then again, you did the right thing by seperating him until hes well again.
my finch has loads of friends in his big cage, he was only in this cage for a few weeks while his wing was healing because he fractured it (we don't know how!) I have 8 zebras altogether

:-p he sounds like a little chicken. All of our zebra finches make that standard "eht" sound but i've never heard a cluck out of them.
