  • simply MARVELOUS!!!!!!!

  • I noticed there are no comments on the clarinetist, who is her partner in this piece.

  • This is just the best of all versions and interpreters. SPECTACULAR!

  • Now there are many outstading clips/arias on YouTube, but this has to come in top 5.

I had never heard her in what might termed Mozart "Opera Seria"before.

She uses her amazing vocally instrument and controls it to the benfit of Mozarts music.Strength without harshness ,feeling without distortion and flexibilty without ugliness.

Not many singers could convey this aria in the way she does.

I cannot find a complete recording of Clemenza with her,is there one anyhwere?

  • nice, so beautiful

thanks a lot for sharing =D

  • No one ever can be BETTER than Baltsa. There are many outstanding singers in opera world, some with much more spectacular technique or more " сorrect " type of voice, and some with really great artistic gifts that produce a very deep impresson . But there`s only ONE incomparable Baltsa. Just as two more incomparable artists - Callas and Shaliapin. And Baltsa is the most phenomenal - to me . Her irresistible charm lies in that pure and powerful personality - TOTALLY dedicated to art.

  • Agnes is OK, but I think is better Magdalena Kozená in this aria

  • Oh, she was so young! I had never seen her so young!

  • i guess that's why she got paid the big money.

  • Brava!

  • This was wonderful! The legato was fantastic. The fiorature was pretty good, but she flubbed the variation in the sequence. I know she did because I also sing this and it varies slightly as it goes up... u'd have to see the score. She wasn't as clean coming down the 2nd time. Even Bartoli with her aspirated version doesn't get it correct.

  • SO WHAT??????

  • check your score again - she is spot-on. and brilliant.

  • there must be many recordings like this in the vaults of National television stations...

  • Thank you! This is amazing!

  • That smile at 1:14 is so odd. And maybe just a little creepy. As for the singing, it is excellent. I would never have pictured Baltsa as Sesto, but she makes it work.

  • There's no smile at 1:14!!!

  • A minor technicality.

Looking back, I meant 0:14. A simple mistake. We all do it.

  • goodness, the coloratura is stunning!

  • The coloratura bits at the end are beyond compare. No aspiration, just a clean, beautiful line throughout. Baltsa sounds TERRIFIC here, and looks sensational to boot.

  • but where are the emotions?

  • Fabulous technique.

  • Merci Parsifalito! This is such a rare clip! She made very few appearances in Paris. More please!
