I've read numerous comments about people laughing at people who don't get the sketch but fail to explain it themselves. I found it funny, but I don't know exactly what Now We Know is supposed to relate to.

If the meaning isn't obvious, then that's because there isn't supposed to be a meaning. Mitchell and Webb wouldn't have made a sketch that was purposely supposed to fool most of the audience, that would make them bad comedians and douche bags. Why can't the joke be just that we don't know what they are talking about as they say now we know. I mean they could have had any old random words that we wouldn't understand 'the cat has a gun, the cat has a gun' but they say 'now we know' hence humour.

The bit is just funny by itself, as evidenced by the number of people who love it but don't get it, but I always just thought that it was a simple joke about how everybody thinks about shagging people.

Imagine a person you've fantasized about and then put yourself in the situation of pantomiming sex with them. Romantically. You're playing characters, but you're really just you, looking into the other person's eyes and making sweet simulated love. Now you know.
