My band recorded a reggae version of this a few years back, too! No drums though, just guitar, bass & mando: we still play it live all the time. I did it for two reasons: one, that one-to-two-minor change always takes me back to my days in reggae bands; and two, Rabbie nearly wound up in Jamaica...
I remember the Cheetahs at that make or break gig in Tiffanie's. I was singing in The Androids at the time. I think our drummer was pretty pally with yours. You were a great band and deserved more.
Are you talking about Cafe' Jacques? Tiffany's was like the Acid Palace for me. What a place. It became a 70's Disco Hell-Hole. My god LOL. I was the drummer with Cafe' Jacques and was pretty friendly with any respectably deranged musician that was floating around Edinburgh at the time. Ah, the memories.
My memories shite but I am sure it was Tiffanie's. Richard Jobson, Skids was at the gig? A major Record company was also at the gig which you absolutely stormed. I only knew The Cheetahs to say hello as we were always playing somewhere else. Our drummer was Nickie Arkless, long haired Heavy Metal guy with glasses. We used to practice down at Nobody's (Everybody's) with the Freeze and a lot of others. Tiffani's was bad but Harvey's and The West End Club bring back frightening memories for me.
Hey Colin . Nice tae know ye and thanks for the favorable comment. I love this version which I hope will help get a wider appreciation for Burns immortal memory and universal message. By the way ah've been tae Girvan masel' mony a time. It has some of the most beautiful scenery in the world aroon there.
Love it Mike it's so catchy and should go down well as a karaoke song and in the discos, certainly gets you jogging along. You look like you are really enjoying yourself too.
LOL! Love it!
