The instructors job is made harder because the student, rather than submitting himself to the drill, the process, the sylabus, he instead looks to intellectualise the process. Asks to many q's that are out of sync with what's happening. eg 5.43 the instructor tries to turn it back on him, " right now, do we need to worry about any of that?" He later renforces, "Once we get these core skills...." That q about lean angle was prob more level 2.
Thanks for all the comments, both good and bad. This exercise was way early in my riding of a sports bike but after many years of cruisers so I come by all the bad habits honestly. ;-) Dylan was great and taught me a lot. And what really taught me how to ride my new BMW S1000RR were the coaches at Keigwin's for their two day novice school. Best investment of $590 ever in my whole life. Code's exercise helped my riding, and Keigwin's totally transformed it. I'm always learning and striving.
That was awesome, you could see the improvement with each run...and I'm sort of getting it more now..particularly that bit about pressing DOWN on the bars, not lightly pressing them forward...great vid..gotta practise more!
@eamonhoffman Wow that is a pretty serious indictment of one of the best coaches in the world. I'm not sure how 'worthless' it was you should watch the whole video. That is Dylan Code. He trains hundreds of riders each year and to get a few minutes of his time is pretty fantastic.
@Jeremybaland That steering drill is amazingly helpful, a demo would be of no help, you could watch MotoGP riders 24hrs a day it will not make you a better rider. The only way to improve your riding is by paying attention to what you are doing, finding out what you are doing right and what you are doing wrong, then changing what you are doing wrong.
@EugeneF15 being a rider coach myself you can not expect students to perform correctly unless they have been shown at least once exactly how to do it, and that it is possible to do.
imagine having to learn how to walk, run ride bicycle this way... what a joke!

No demo? So the student is guessing what he is supposed to do. that looks terrible.
