One world family, Thanks for your comment. I agree with you that personalized medicine is a very broad term and what we are actually defining in this film is pharmacogenomics. Yet to keep it simple for the general public we chose to define it in that way. I beleive in lifestyle and nutrietional factors to have a HUGE role,but it would have been too much to cover in 9 mins.
Personalised medicine is NOT solely about pharmaceuticals and it is a shame that in the age of the genome and the epigenome we still have our heads stuck in this paradigm. Personalised medicine is a healthcare model that employs a variety of treatment choices (yes, pharmaceuticals may be indicated), but also specifically nutritional (nutrigenomic) and tailored lifestyle recommendations to return an individual to a state of health.
