  • I would have said " OHHH MY GOD SHUUUUT UPPPP I DON"T CARE HOW OLD YOU ARE JUST SHUT UP KID"

  • What I don't get is why any child, any age would throw a tantrum for taking their shoes off. Yes I know he's young although from the time we're born we're instilled with some basic form of common sense. Were the shoes his favorite or something?

  • My chemist said that when his son does this in public and he is on the ground. He puts his foot on his tummy and this usually makes him giggle and then the tantrum is over :) I dont have kids but I thought it was quite a good way of dealing with it!! :)

  • My daughter acts like this at times and there's not talking her down, the only thing that calms her down is if we give her what she wants. People need to not judge!!

  • I am so orry about his passing also, but at 3 years of age he should have been able to communicate better then that. You just let him throw shoes up in dad's face and rip your house apart. What did he learn from that? He learned that he could do this kind of behaviour and it was "O.K." with the family. There should have been some type of disapline, sent to his room, stand in the corner, or beat his ass till he can't walk.. You basically gave him a green light to act this way no reprocussions.

  • @TheShasiti did you bother reading the story on the video he actually grew up and turned out ok, Until his death at the age of 18 years I have no regrets dealing with this tantrum beating his ass would have served no purpose at all, except to escalate the problem. I never had to resort to mind altering drugs either. He grew up, into a wonderful person who had a job and was well and truelly on the way UP in his life.

  • @TheShasiti For some kids, ignoring them is the best course of action; though shining a video camera in their face like this probably isn't "ignoring the situation" it probably isn't typical behavior either - and to criticize a known greiving parent is just disgraceful and indicates your true motivation for this post. You're disgusting.

  • @TheShasiti Why on earth do you feel the need to correct everyone's parenting skills? It's obvious you didn't read the description. Kids throw tantrums and its a normal part of their formative years. I have three children and wouldn't dream of telling someone how to parent their own child--especially one that grew up fine and is no longer with us. Sheesh!

  • omg i am so sorry about his passing!

    R.I.P

  • I think thats a kid nambed Billy in my school?.

  • @Sophiaec11 don't think so

  • Videos like this make me feel proud for wearing a condom.

RIP to your son. Sorry for the loss.

  • Actually the BEST thing to do is to just ignore him. Psych 101 :P If u give attention they just carry on.

  • To all who think there is no excuse for this behavior... bug off!! My 3 year old throws tantrums similar to this and I TRY to discipline her, I whip, I time out, I yell, I ignore.. NOTHING works! I did not act like she does, my oldest does not act like she does.. it is a process, especially with a child who is hyper-active. They get over stimulated and have a HARD time expressing their feelings. So before you critisize those you do not know, maybe you should take a walk in our shoes!!

  • @msadler0208 thankyou for commenting, my son Dion knew this video was uploaded, he called himself the STAR of it. He also said it was proof of the need for contraception :) point is he grew up without the need for mind altering medication, just lots of understanding and patience cos at that age some kids cannot express themselves very well. Dion was a very active child. I got him into football and soccer early to help him burn off his energy. Sadly he died in a Road Crash in 2007 age 18

  • Sorry to hear about his passing. My son has the same tantrums! He is 3 years old and I also have a video of him doing basically the same things!

  • @Sarah8785 the sad thing around that age they have issues with getting their feelings across and it is one reason why they do lash out. They are still learning language skills at that age too which also contributes.

  • lol I love how the dad is so chill about the whole thing.

  • I never did that when I was 3, I'm sure if I did I would've gotten spanked if not worse. Just saying, I don't think anyone's kids have an excuse for acting like that either.

  • r-i-p dion

    :(

  • heheh its cute i used to do that when i was a kid to :D !! ppl who say horrbile stuff on this video ~~how can u say stay like that to a child ! yuck ! u r disgusting . .. :D

  • why would u just ignore him?

  • MEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!

  • damn sad. rip dion

  • he's dead now. :'(

  • Ignoring the behavior and not giving him the attention he was seeking was the perfect response. Children at that age are attention seekers whether it be positive or negative. If you give him attention then the behavior will become a frequent thing bc he knows it will provide attention. I ignore my two year old when he throws fits and give him lots of positive attention when he is having good behavior which has taught him to have good behavior and that fits get him nothing.

  • I think that all the haters need to realize, this video was shot in 1993, that kid is now 20 years old. For heavens sake, get over it.

  • @MonkeyManBlues actually Dion ended up passing away 3 years ago due to a Road Crash still you are right the video was filmed in 1993 he grew up to be a damned good kid.

  • i'm so sorry for your loss

  • omg

  • Normally I would insult the kid but hes dead so R.i.P.

  • R.I.P Dion

  • omg wow fun tantrum are eh? sorry for your loss am a little stuck wat to say really...

  • @miladyshaila why should anyone threaten a child, Threats do not work and only serve to make a child less confident, Dion grew up to be a very confident young man, I did not have to resort to beating him, restraining him, or medicating him, he was 3 years old when this video was taken, the point is from my 21 years experience as a mother of 6 children, and many years prior working in childcare that toddlers will throw tantrums.

  • @mumandtwins very true, if the parent is relaxed even whilst it's hard when a child is throwing a tantrum the child learns from their parents, and if you can see by the clip the tantrum lasted a lot less time then if the parents had tried to retrain the child or punish the child, also not giving treats or comforting "praise" during these episodes help to not reinforce the tantrum behaviour,i may not have kids myself but my friends&family do, the less is done during a tantrum the less it happens

  • you people r so clueless start spanking him and he wont do that anymore thats rediculous making all that noise , =/

  • Why do parents allow their children to do this? I have 4 sons and never allowed this sort of behavior. My oldest son was a challenge, and ignoring him did not work, neither did time outs. Tell him to stop immediately or I would restrain him, if he screamed, soap or hot sauce would be inserted but only after the warning. When you make good on your threats, and they know it, there won't be a second fit. Tell them you love them too much to allow them to act so awful. Not acceptable.

  • im absolutly disgusted by sum of the comments posted in relation to this video. comments such as.. that child needs shot, or that child needs discipline! do people who post these ridic comments hav children themselves?! cuz surely if they did they wud realise that this completly normal and that ur husband did exactly the right thing. how dare they suggest it was ur fault/ that u didnt handle it correctly. i wud love to see how they wud hav dealt wif it or how they raise their own toddlers.

  • @mrszoebarr my point with this video is one does not have to resort to bashing a child, or medicating a child just because of a tantrum. I have seen many many toddlers "loose it" this particular day, I chose to film it to show him later in life, sadly he passed away when he was 18 yrs old. in a vehicle crash. he grew up to be an very well adjusted young man, with a good job, and without beatings, and medication

  • I love how the other kid is completely unfazed by the whole thing.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. Thoughts and prayers are with you.

  • is temper tantrum some kind of a disorder or did something piss him off

  • @mumandtwins... Do you ever get over the pain of losing your baby boy?

This reminds me of my little boy and I can't imagine what I would do if I lost him.

  • @mangablaze87 nope it is something that is always there, when I wake up and when I go to sleep, it is with me everymoment, however I have learned to take this negative and turn it into something more positive, and that is educating others about the choices that are made. I miss him heaps I know I did everything in my power to have him grow up to be a good person everything happens for a reason, I am now putting this to good use.

  • This child is clearly looking for attention and needing his parents help with putting his shoes on. It is sad to see his parents ignore him. Get down on his level and speak calmly and reflect his feelings of frustrations and meet his needs! This child doesn't need medication but good parenting!

  • @vtrudydog have you bothered to read the description on this video some times a child cannot be reasoned with do me a favour and actually READ the description. and don't you DARE ever accuse me of being a bad parent as a result

  • The father did the right thing in this situation. If the father were to play into the childs games, than the child would use it as a form of manipulation in later situations to perhaps get what he wants. This child is clearly aware of what hes doing, and is more upset that hes not getting his way. Kudos to the father for staying so calm instead of whooping his ass like some other parents would have done. That would by the way cause more harm to the child in the long run. Good day.

  • How you stayed so calm? Respect! I stay calm lately since i am so tired to react. Numb.

I should post video reply which is dramatic the same way or even worse.

Sorry to hear your son passed. I have three, oldest son is Dion`s ages, little are 2 and 3 years old.

  • I just want to know why is it on the videos when a little GIRL throws a tantrum people go on and on about how CUTE she is, but when a little boy throws a tantrum everyone ready to beat him to an inch of his life.

  • who knows, it could be a way of putting boys into the stereotype of being a boy, growing up to be a man whatever, silly isn't it tantrums from boys and girls are not cute, however both sexes can be very dramatic. some also feel the need to medicate when a child has the occassional tantrum, not a good idea either

  • It just annoys me on the vids when girls throw a tantrum people make comments like, Aww she's a cutie, you got a little drama queen there, you need to send her to acting school. And when boy throws a tantrum people are like, ever hear of spanking, where's the belt?, or I'd beat the hell out of him! These double standards make me SICK!

  • I noticed this too!!!

  • SMASH HIM WHIT THE CHAIR HE FLIPED OVER! well ofc not

  • ode-Smash your own ass with it!

  • its called a spanking .....=]

  • Best thing to do is when your kids do this, dont do anything until they run out of breath :]

  • ohhh shhhiiiiiiiit lol, i would have had spank him even tho i am against spanking...... -SPANK!- "YOU BETTER STOP NOWW!!!-

  • Im so sorry to hear about your son.......

  • shut the fuck up

  • oh my daughter would wake up doing these tantrums it would take about 30mins to calm her down i never knew why she would do this because she would just tell me its because never an answer but i never would be mean or punish her because i didnt know why she was doing it and plus she woke up that way and it always seemed like she just needed a hug

  • @ilovesteve7 would she happen to have something along the lines of tourettes syndrome? not in a mean way. i have it and i used to get upset easily :)

  • i would put him in time out or somthin ... lol

  • terrible twos and trying threes.

  • sometimes the terrible twos just roll into the terrible threes. =) you have a lot of patience.

I'm so sorry for your loss, thanks for sharing your video.

  • he is to old to be doing this!

  • maturity

  • Ha, I remember vids of myself like that when I was that age. My parents did the exact same thing; let me run out of fuel. My mom said the naps that followed were of epic proportion. The only difference, though, is if I ever threw shoes or started hitting the wall, my dad would quickly adjust my temper.

In hindsight, Im so glad he did. My folks taught me a lot at that age about discipline, and Im ever thankful. Adorable kid and my heart goes out to you.

  • wtf

  • thank you for posting. My heart goes out to you and to your beautiful son. He must have been wonderful to see the funny side in his younger self.He was clearly blessed with great parents. My son had spectacular tantrums.Once an old man in a shopping center sat down and ate his lunch and watched. After he offered me money for the best show he had ever seen !. I'm really glad you posted this. People are so judgemental. Most times tantrums don't mean bad parenting or a bad child. Thank you *hug*

  • i would of got the belt asap

  • and what would that solve??? except to make the matter much worse

  • so sorry about ur loss!!!!!!

  • what loss?

  • he needs something to cry for

  • potasho not a slap in the face but across the stamping feet and the troublesome hands....

  • Wow you handled this well, wish I had parents like you (I can't explain)!

Anyway, sorry for your loss. Sad, may he rest in peace in heaven. thanks for the video.

  • did the kid die? I thought he grew up and went to school and had a job. ???

  • yes this kid grew up, went to school and got a job, Then at the age of 18 yrs he died, see have a look at the date on this video you will see 1993 he died in 2007 so of course he had the oppurtunity to grow up from the time this video was taken of him.

  • R.I.P Dion

  • After watching this my tubes tied themselves.

  • Lol

  • I am so sorry for your loss

    R.I.P Dion

  • That is one strong 3 year old

  • I'm was a nanny and I tell my friends that smart kids have a long attention span. They temper tantrum longer. This was handled well. Pay no attention to it. Every preschooler has a few of these at some point. Give them love when they calm down.

  • my 3 year old has just finished EXACTLY the same tantrum! Thank god it's not just me....

    So sorry for your loss.

  • Wow, I thought my three year old son was the only one who threw tantrums like this! It's nice to know I am not alone!

  • that is exactly why this video was posted, to show other parents they are not alone with tantrums this agegroup was relatively easy compared to teenage years. :) enjoy them while you can

  • Wow. That really frightened me, almost to tears. It's just scary to see a child THAT angry.

My mother said that I used to have really bad tantrums. She even recalled a time when a woman saw one of my episodes and started praying, because she thought I was possessed by a demon.

I'm so sorry about your loss. I hope that he's surrounded by angels.

  • beat out the crap if my kid doing that.....Show some respect of parent would you ?

  • if i were you, i acually would have gave him a slap in the face and told him to shut the fuck up

  • and what purpose would that serve, except to make the kids more agro

  • How sorry I am for you. :(

    R.I.P. Dion.

  • i know it doesnt say it, but i am doing a presentation on Oppositional Defiant disorder, i hope you wont mind if i use this video for class.

Also my condolences on your loss.

  • I don't mind as long as you give credit where you got it from

  • for sure

  • i just read the description AFTER i posted the comment (dumb move) sorry about your loss. that's really sad. but i have to say... that screaming is ridiculous. haha, in a good way

  • someone should have worn his ass out! i would have whooped him so hard, he WOULD have somethin to cry about.

  • LOL!!!

  • nice set of lungs on the boy

  • he wither wants the camera or the shoes on!!!!!!!!

  • ohk well put the 3 year old in the crib when they act like that so they go to bed cause there cranky

  • I would have sent him to his room and have a lock on the door.

  • locks on childrens doors are not appropriate, they are also a fire hazard in case of emergency

  • justlike mybrother lmao

  • she jumps alot. Bye the way i am soooo sorry about your loss

  • somebody shoot the kid and put him out of his misery!!

  • ........................D:

  • He wants his shoes back on!!! :)

  • put the shoes back on!

  • The dad did exactly the right thing - just sat there and ignore the kid, let him blow off his steam. I wish I had that kind of patience.

  • It's funny how when one kid is throwing a tantrum, the other child is usually quiet. They just like watching either other throw fits...

  • As an adult it would be nice to be able to do that again. Get mad, throw a tantrum, then feel a lot better when its all over. I wish we adults could get rid of our hurt and anger so easily, instead of having to carry it around.

Dion just looks like a typical little boy being mad. At least he did not break anything when he was acting out.

  • I know that feeling too, only thing is if an adult carried on like this they would probably get arrested :) I would trade moments like this in an instant to have him back alive and well, I would also rather put up with this sort of tantrum from a toddler than some of the adolecent behaviours I have seen over the years.

  • im so sorry he died.He was really young,im so sorry. He should have had more years to live...

  • lol i was afraid for that babys life

  • holy shit the kids face is purple in the middle of the vid lol

  • could be aged video tape, who knows, he sure was chucking a wobbly

  • I am sorry that your son passed away. I have two sons and I would lose my mind if ether of them. My question is to you. Are you blind, Your son wanted his shoes on. The dad just sat there and the mother video taped. Got to love the 90's. You remind me of my parents.

  • my son was tired fell asleep in his dinner I put him to bed, took his shoes off, he woke up and chucked this tantrum. video tape was accessable and I filmed it to show him later in life one of his full on tantrums, Dion grew up to be a good kid, very persistant he was, and he LOVED this video footage of himself, he said he was the STAR and he was glad he was never medicated as this vid shows that toddlers do chuck tantrums for silly little things

  • wat caused the tantrum

  • who was 1st person u lost?

  • my nephew Jamie whose news footage is also uploaded here, he was 17 yrs old when he died as a passenger in his own car, the driver was also killed in that accident, I have a lot to do with other parents who have lost their teenagers this way, and well putting the reality from our perspecitive out there is the only way that helps turn this negative into something more positive. if it saves just one teenage life it is all worth it

  • didn't he die in a car accedent or sumthing?

  • yes he sure did at the age of 18 yrs he died in a fatigue related car vs bus accident in August 2007

  • that kid needed discipline.

and you as a mother or father answerin peoples questions here u didnt giv 1 shit about that kid!

  • Omg, i just read that he passed away. I am sooo sorry! There can be nothing on the face of this planet more heartbreaking then having your child leave the earth before you do. So sorry.

  • I would go through this tantrum and anything else again if only to have him still here, this was one of his favourite childhood videos of himself where he called it his "star performance"

  • looks like he wants someone to put on his shoes?

god damn put on his shoes for him lol

he keeps putting his shoes in that guys face...

  • dear mumandtwins, you have the pacients of a saint. but when i look at that video I say to myself 'what would be wrong with that kid getting a serious spanking? I don't mean beating the snot out of him i mean spanking him as a way of controling the situation. he was turning over furniture that was dangerous. I mean this question with all due respect to you and your parenting style. from where i come from spanking in not a bad thing. When i was a kid i was spanked and now i am a teacher. ok?

  • I am by no means against a well placed spanking, but I did post this with Dions permission, to show other parents that tantrums are a normal part of toddler behaviour, I was happy that he grew up to become a fantastic person, without the need for mind altering drugs. it shows parents that toddlers can't be reasoned with and go off at little things. Sadly he died in a car accident last year aged just 18 years

  • I agree. You have crazy patience. I would have spanked him in the first minute. My child is currently going through terrible 3's. Not happening. I am just as stubborn :) Kudos though for patience.

  • I am so sorry for your loss. thank you for your answer. :-)

  • visionarts, you are out of line with that comment.

  • You can see him getting tired towards the end, and it's like he's thinking, "Damn! Why is this not working!?"

    I admire your tolerance.

  • he was tired to begin with, he fell asleep in his dinner, and of course being Daylight Savings time it was still very light outside.probably another reason why he got upset. this is another reason why toddlers should have a afternoon nap. he didn't that day. and of course in the middle of summer its stinking hot here

  • why are you spamming every tantrum video with this nonsense? YOU obviously don't know anything about parenting or other's lives. Would they put this on youtube if it was child abuse? Get some help.

  • some people just have no idea, he has spammed a couple of my other videos too, I have learned to have a thick skin. rolls off like water on a ducks back now. thanks for the comments

  • oh you are so way off mark and so VERY VERY wrong there, for 19 years I have been a stay at home mum, I NEVER had baby sitters for any of my children simply because I don't TRUST ANYONE to look after my kids.

  • lmfao!

  • holy shut.

  • Thank you so much for this... exactly what I am experiencing with my son Kai! many times I really lose my control and am thinking of seeking professional help.... THANKS for sharing!

  • I am glad it shows you that many toddlers chuck tantrums for various reasons.

  • OMG he died??? That's so sad!! I wish you God's blessing and hope that you can get through this. :(

  • maybe the kid just wants a freakin help with wearing his freakin shoes!

trantrums are results of frustrated needs!you shoul have an effective communication with your kids. Poor kiddo.

  • You don'y beat your kids, thay have a good chance to have a anger or mental problem,

if you think you shold beat your kids, you don't deserve them.

as for this he's 3 , He's aloud to have anger fits, Don't think he's going to be like this when he's 4,5,6 ect.

    Stupid people ¬_¬

    also RIP x

  • Do u think he was angry ?

  • is dion the boy

  • yes this was when he was 3 yrs old

  • Why isin't anyone doing anything about it? It it was my kid he would get an ass beating

  • thats good paranting, u must be black! thats y they are criminals when they grow up

  • ummm exuse me

  • he deserva a ass whippin

if he wasz black he wudnt be doin all dat shit..lol

  • you have to beat your fucking kids, even if they are 10, at an age like 10 they shouldnt be giving you bullshit, dont worry about police, they never gather up the guts to tell the police, because they love you, and know that getting u arrested would ruin a portion of their lives, sorry about dion, im sure there is a way to hack his myspace

  • I dont think sitting on the kid is abuse. My dad had to do that to me when i was little. it sucked... imagine a 250 pound dude on like a what? 50 pound? 40?

  • dagum

  • I have 5yr old twins. Tantrums seems never ending. Tried the 'not interested' approach, sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt.

  • my twin boys are nearly 10 yrs old, it don't get much better either depending on the mood of either one or the other

  • What a spoiled brat!

  • hes 3, and ur stupid !

  • haha 3 year old mad no one cares

  • oh my! My 3 yr old watched this with me and even she said "thats naughty aye mum, I don't do that" How can you sit back and let a child throw furniture? I think that is soooo wrong! OK let him have his hissy fit, but thats YOUR house he's wrecking, and he should be taught some respect for other people's belongings.

  • well point of the video is to show parents who are going through tantrums that they are not alone. My son grew up and became a wonderful person, and he personally loved that this video has helped so many parents see they are not alone, Dion died 4 months ago at the age of 18 years, this video was made public in February this year

  • wait..so the lil boy died or ur husband died?? sorry im confused

  • my son died age 18 yrs in August this year, as for the husband well I kicked him out of the house in April this year

  • if ur kid ever sceams give em a opened cell phone, it has to be workable with the lughts

  • Heartfelt condolences on your loss. As the father of 5 well behaved children, it is shameful that a parent allows more than 5 seconds of this behavior. I'd be like white on rice, sitting on the child if necessary to show then who is boss. Parents who allow this are neglectful and wimps. When a child cries out like this, I believe they are saying.."Be my parent, set limits, show me you care".

  • despite this tantrum I am very proud to say Dion grew up to become such a wonderful person, who loved his family dearly, thankfully this event wasn't repeated

  • Wow, sitting on your child...

I think they call that abuse these days.

All children go through a tantrum phase, unless they are just scared of getting beat to death by the "boss". Dick.

  • when I have read and responded to all the comments on here, I find there is a great divide as to how to handle children who chuck tantrums like this. point of my video is Children do this, it is not uncommon, as parents we weather the childs emotions and all we can do is hope for the best, No Power games or dangerous medications, a parent will only do what they feel they should for their child.

  • Sad to hear about your loss - one of the most painful things a person can endure is the death of a child.

I too, have a little boy whose temper has been very difficult to deal with.

Tantrums - what works? Sometimes nothing!

People are quick to comment... the same people who are thinking "glad it's not me oh you poor thing" love to give advice. Pity is not what we need. It's a sanity break.

May you find much fortune and happiness in your life.

  • thankyou when I put this video up in February this year, never would i have thought I would loose him so suddenly as i did. (car accident age 18 yrs) Dion loved this video of him, he like the idea of people using it as contraception LOL. and liked that other parents know that all is not solved with meds, he was tired he got over it.

  • MEOW, he sounds like a screaming cat.
