"Why spend money on software when you can get all this for free" I've been asking that question professionally since 1998. People just shrug and continue to waste their money.
@manattan342 i'm sorry, i have absolutely not the slightest clue what you are talking about! but i'm sure linux could do it if you could figure out how to explain it in a meaningful way!
these are random generated letter that are place in the box,s box 1 a-z
box 2 a-z box-3 a-z
is it possible to see what pc 1 is out puting then take that info and manually in put it into pc 2 then could pc 2 know where pc 1 is going and what pc 1s next out put would be before it comes out
Here is were Linux fall short, the OS's are nice, but they never seem to fix bug in the software.. "Ktoon" is the closest thing Linux has to Flash, but is the world of Linux programs helping finish it... NO... Why? Well it's because they want to see how many New Linux distributions they can make... Waisting year making new distributions, and not putting the time fixing what really needs fixed the software...
I can't stand Ktoon. I'm not even sure they even work on that project anymore. I could be wrong though. Have you ever tried synfig? And come on! Flash doesn't have bugs? I go to school for animation and we always talk about how buggy flash is. For the money I would go with Toon Boom pro. As of now, with linux I have a whole list of free software that satifies my needs. As for as throwing down cash for something, I'm saving for a Cintiq
Does synfig, or Toon Boom pro, or any of the free software have scripting like Action Script in flash ? I use Flash for more than making cartoons I use it to build powerful Adobe AIR apps, MP3 players, Video Games, video player, and more... There is no tool that powerful and as easy to use in Linux none... And that is sad, if they had a tool like that for Linux than people could build more programs for Linux... Linux has been around how long? and no one has made a tool like that.
Ya I like the Cintiq they are very nice tools tool have... The best 3D program I like to use is 3DS Max it rocks, and it's easier to use than Maya3D I think... and MudBox and Z-brush are fun as well...
@maw88ify, not really sure about the scripting. Toon Boom pro, maybe? Not sure. I don't do action scripting so I really don't know. Toon Boom pro isn't free, just to be clear. Hmmm. I'll look into the scripting for you. Google has been throwing money at the "wine" project. Adobe CS2 works good for me under wine. Also Adobe is partnering with Google on their OS. Who knows, maybe in a year or two the Flash software will be ported to linux by then.
@maw88ify, Yes, the Cintiq one day shall be mine. :) Hmmm, I haven't used 3DS Max in years and I mean years. Almost a decade. Never really liked Maya. The GUI always bothered me, reminded me of little kids toys. Z-brush is fun! I am a really big Blender fan. Which is free and open source. As far as non free I really liked softimage. All my 3Ds skills though are very basic. As far as this video, some basic user don't need to illegal DL photoshop when there is a free alternative.
Mac has Time Machine Linux has >> Back In Time More best of Linux... Ready... >>> Video editor >> kdenlive 2d animation >> Ktoon 3D Blender3 3D, Wing3D, and K-3D Sound >> Audacity Graphical disk-usage information >> FileLight Forget about VMware >> Sun VirtualBox is free HTML site editor >> BlueFish, Screem , KompoZer, or the one in seamonkey browser. video transcoder >> Handbrake That a start... but Linux has a long... long way to go...
Holy Cow!! I've got all of the not so free for free software including complete Corel x3 suite & PShop x3 portables and I love the programs that but hate the idea of using them. I was totally looking for an open source solution to everything and you just gave me the list of programs I need to do a complete switch. Now, If I could just get you to install all of that fancy stuff on the new hard drive I just bought. What did you say your address was? That's right, you didn't. Time to learn Linux.
thank you for your thought-provoking comment. Er let me think about that for a moment. No, it doesn't. Yes, macs are pretty awesome, but also expensive.
Well it's clear that Linux with it's endless amount of free stuff is not as cool as Mac and it's over price software. Have you even seen what Linux can do for free that Mac can't do even or charging for their stuff...>> /watch?v=xC5uEe5OzNQ
Free software is about freedom, not about price. Would've been great if you would've underlined that free is as in freedom. Usually at no cost, but not always.
I do understand the "free as in freedom" concept now, and i have expanded it to include "freedom of choice of operating system". If an application doesn't work on Linux, Mac AND Windows, then i don't consider it truly free.
I'm confused... If throughout the years I've run all of those, did a 10 page essay on the installation and configuration of Debian, and started learning nix with Slackware.. and now settling with Ubuntu.. I don't really understand the "Real Man" distro (31337) anymore. They all do the same, and are all just as configurable as the next. I used to run around saying the same thing a number of years ago until someone put me in my place in an argument over Slackware vs. Red Hat.
What do the 24's mean? Because it cannot be your age, you sound too much like a typical high school hacker who just finished installing his Gentoo for the first time.
As you probably know, Linus Torvalds decided to use Fedora instead of Debian because it was easier. He also prefers Ubuntu to Debian. Is he a pansy for that?
If you are such a pro, do something useful with you time instead of obsessing over the distros, like programming drivers and contributing to the kernel.
sermoa, I know it's obvious but pointing out all those applications run in the same time and you're still able to capture the screen in the real time would be a good punchline. The same rig on windows probably wouldn't make it. And you didn't mention games - almost all of the games developed for Windows can run on linux with wine so... I just want to agree with you. Why paying for something you can get for free. Good movie.
Yes, that's a very good point about the multiple applications running. My computer is not an especially powerful one, but Linux handles its resources extremely well.
I'm not really a gamer but i manage to play SecondLife just fine under Linux. The only thing i've never managed to get working is the push-to-talk.
Oh, girl, believe me... You're not a gamer because you don't have a decent joystick, hehehe. I've won two controllers and now my 26yo sister can't live without UGH! (it's abandonware, you can run it with dosbox for linux). And partying with friends evolved into something more *ekhm* civilized... I mean we still drink but now we pass out in order ;D
It was just lack of experience, that's all. Bunch of files you couldn't use was the same bunch of files you couldn't open because you didn't install proper application. Just like on windows. The difference is on Windows you would have to buy those applications and on linux...? apt-get what_i_need_for_free
Vulgoremetal's tutorials are indeed excellent. I am now very comfortable using the command line for going thru files because of his tutorials so check them out folks:)
I started on Linux out of necessity. My computer crashed so badly that i could not even reinstall Windows. I had a copy of Mandriva lying around that i got free with a magazine. I thought "Might be worth a try" ... it took me a little while to get used to it, but now i'd never go back!
Same here sermoa:) My main game plaing pc took a dump a couple of years ago so I resurected my little pentium III with Fedora>Mepis>now running Debian. I have a few hard drives with other distros but Debian is my main man. Very nice desktop btw, clean and to the point, well done.

I had ies4linux installed in order to test web applications in Internet Explorer.
Why do you ask?

sermoa: is that debian 4.0 etch?
24oscar24 2 years ago
Linux is not difucult to use.
is difucult to CONFIGURE.
just use ubuntu,suse,fedora etc....
once you know how the system works move to debian.
once you got debian you can use arch linux, gentoo linux or slackware.
a real man distro.
