I am an intermediate player and have played in a blues band for several years. I started with Lee Oskar and have stuck with them. But a friend in Europe who is a very good player said wooden combs are better than plastic as in the Lee Oskar fo Blues. He plays old delta Blues from the 30s and 40s acoustically and dont know if that is the reason he said that. What do you think. Is the Special 20 for example superior because of its comb?
Thanks Dan for your trouble. Very responsible perspective and I hope it works. For my part I will pass it on to anyone showing an interest in harmonicas. I am interested to know in detail quite a bit more about custom harmonicas. Are you going to develop this topic in a lesson? Happy Christmas.
@Levatron I made a lesson a few years back when I received my first customized harp. Also, there are some Jason Ricci videos that talk about his harmonicas (all customized). I'm not sure if I'm the best resource on customs, as I still mostly play stock harps.
thank you just what i needed ive been at it 2 years now thanks to you and your vids (my 1st you tube upload pays homage to your lessons!)thanks for this vid and all the ones before this. its because of you your counterparts here on you tube there is one more harmonica player in the world.

Interesting vid.
In my opinion, the Hohner Big River is the least expensive decent harp that is commonly available.
