  • love this piece =D Just wanted to see how someone else does it

i vary my dynamics a bit more but i think it might be an issue of the mic

  • Thanks for your comment. This was one of my earliest recordings with an old camera. My current one does flatten the dynamics a little, but hopefully I try to compensate on recent videos by exaggerating them!

  • thank you for uploading! It is very useful for me to practice. Nice job!

  • Thank you - just make sure you don't copy me slavisbly. There may be some nuance I have missed, an error in the edition I used, etc. etc.

  • Nice job, I am learning this piece rigth now for an exam coming up. Any practice strategies you used??

  • The only advice I can really offer on this piece is: don't underestimate the need to bring out the melody at the expense of the accompanying chords, and assume that you are playing the piece for the benefit of a listener who does not know what the tune is. Good luck with it, and your exam.

  • Bravo! Thanks for posting so many Stephen Heller pieces. I'm using his Prelude in C# Minor for my grade 6 exam later this year & it's a pleasure to hear more of his work.

  • My pleasure! I believe there are plans afoot to have all his piano music recorded, but so far it appears very little on CDs or in concert. I should add that some of his concert works require a very large stretch to bring off.
