  • Hey Thank for your nice video.

Do you know how much db this is attenuation cable do?

  • @nagoya1975 I have no idea.

  • @CassetteMaster

Ok I will buy the parts today and test tomorrow. I need one attenuation for -6dbv.

But if not work for me, no problem, I will post here how much db this attenuation do.

    Thanky again.

  • Good video CassetteMaster, thanks for the information.

  • eclipsewebjs can burn in hell asap.

    But nice and helpful vid.

  • My attenuation cable is starting to get worn, because it's starting to disconnect, even though all the connections are all firmly secured in their jacks...

  • The wires inside the insulation are probably fraying inside. All the twists and turns near where it goes to the jacks likely make it happen.

  • I've got to make one of these!

  • cool idea (now i know how overdrive works), do you have any ideas on how to make a amplifier to bring mic volume to lie level(

  • Just a simple 1 or 2 transistor preamp will do it.

  • It makes the signal alot more weak so it doesn't overdrive the tape recorder's MIC input.

  • I just built an attenuation cable, and it came out great! Thank you for these intructions!

  • lol

  • You should place a logarithmic trimmer in their so you can set the proper level.

  • That...was random.

  • I understand the need for the 1 Meg ohm resistor in series on the hot lead, but why the 10K ohm resistor across the leads? Doesn't that actually cause a type of short circuit? Thanks for the video!

  • I guess it's for impedance. I saw the circuit design in a tape recorder manual. But it works good!

  • whats that speaker at 0;05 Looks like a toa

  • LoL Or DNH

  • I bought an attenuating cable earlier this year, though I have yet to try it out...

So far I only have one tape recorder without an aux/line in jack I can test it on. So I will be making a video of that :)

  • 4:38 good song hall and oats out of touch, heard in the game grand theft auto vice city, and the atten. cable makes it sound better, maybe ill make one i dunno most of my music is cds and mp3s mostly mp3s

  • Wow, this was really helpful! Thanks. I tried doing this using an in-line headphone volume control cable while recording from MiniDisc onto my Sony TCM-400DV's mic input and it seemed to work OK, too. However, there was some distortion; perhaps it was due to not using an actual attenuator cable or it was the Automatic Gain Control on my tape recorder?

  • Can you go from a headphone output to line-in, say if I wanted to directly record off of a small record record player in the computer?

  • For that I don't think you need an attenuating cable, just direct.

  • Thanks

  • ricky what brand tape is that looks like the old certrons i used to use for screwing around with

  • It seems to be no-brand, "rainbow" tape. The quality is not the greatest with this tape, the highs are not the best with this tape as some better tapes are.

  • fantastic many times I have thought of putting in a AUX jack in a tape recorder the idea of a cable is oh so great also I wounderd if resistors would work ? really helpful !

  • I used an old vacuum tube radio's 70 volt line transformer to adapt a speaker out put to a mic input. It works but it cuts the treble response. Yours seems to keep the sound cleaner.

  • It doesn't matter the polarity of the resistors.

  • A cable for line level to mic level for a tape recorder. ClydeSight has a video up about attenuating cables, he bought one from RadioShack.

  • That should work.

  • im gonna do a hate mob on you. This video is Awesome! 5/5 and faved

  • Very good idea and a good job too.

  • OMG its a big difference between the cables.

The Attenuation cable give much better sound.

  • Super Cool dude, thanks a lot , this will help me a lot with my old tape recorders. Still trying to get vids up about them!
