Van Basten, Bergkamp are crap players and its easy to save Van Bastens decisive penalty in the semi finals when you play for a team like Denmark which has never reached a final in a major tournament before or since. Schmeichel was THE reason why Denmark won in 1992, I watched the final myself and he made more amazing saves then I could count on both my hands.

@zzzaaa0990 I know that! Denmark reached the quarterfinals in 1986. What I mean is that Denmark never reached THE final (the final 2 teams) ever since. DK participated in many major tournaments lately the WC 2010, but where knocked out in the group stage.

Denmark was even qualified for the EURO 1992, but the war in former Jugoslavia allowed Denmark to join and then they suprised everyone by winning the tournament.

But Denmark got Holland, Germany and Portugal for EURO 2012 so I don't think that this is going to be the breakthrough season. Schmeichel is undoubtedly among the 5 best keepers ever, just ask any football expert.
