Alonso raced for McLaren in 2007, Badoer was stand in for Massa in 2009. Did those two drivers just apply time travel or something like that. I am a bit lost..
People don't seem to realise there is NO testing like before, test drivers don't take the cars to proving grounds, NO testing during a season AT ALL and the pre season testing is severely limited.
No one gets an F1 seat if they are a bad driver, no one.
@Sozlled Not entirely true, there are better drivers sitting on the sidelines while less talented drivers have seats, all down to money, how much they can bring to the team through sponsors money. This has always been the case, particularly towards the back end of the grid. I'm not saying they are bad drivers, just not the best around sometimes.
@williamhallalizee Yea i hadn't realised the extent to which this is true, B Senna for instance trying to bring on board $10 million i think it was (might have been $5 mill) from Petrobras i think it was, hoping to get a seat.
Just shows you the money they need to bring.
I really hope Rubens can get a seat in 2012, Williams performance in last season wouldn't have helped but as they keep saying he is a "safe pair of hands".
It would be awful to see Rubens squeezed out of F1
@Sozlled they are starting to bring back in season testing, next year there will be a mid season test and mugello in may or june i think. i think that in season testing will be brought back in 2014 or 2015
@Sozlled the pre season testing still stands, the test/third driver sometimes gets a go on friday during fp1 or fp2, depending on who you listen to there is mid season testing returning and also the odd day of corporate days inwhich the cars are run at race pace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sometimes people have to realise that Formula One is based mainly on the cars that the racers drive. The skill level of each of the drivers are very much similar: they are at the peak of this time and age, and sometimes and even most of the time it is safe to say that the car serves victory.
@RemcoGamer95 Luca,Fernando is a dirty driver who needs help of the team to overtakes a driver like Massa. Oh wait, Fernando! Petrov is faster than you and your team can't do nothing! because Petrov drive for another team! Oh shit!
@RemcoGamer95 Luca,Fernando is a dirty driver who needs help of the team to overtakes a driver like Massa. Oh wait, Fernando! Petrov is faster than you and your team can't do nothing! because Petrov drive for another team! Oh shit!
Marc Gene should've drove that car! At that point, Badoer hadn't competed in ANY motor racing event since like 1999 or something like that & Gene had just won Le Mans with Peugeot, the 1st Spaniard to do so overall, as well as a few F1 races between 1999 and 2009, with Williams on a couple of occasions in 2004 IIRC! Not fair really on Badoer!
@kikecacique Makes no difference where he finished at the weekend, the fact is he's still a prick and very few people like him. There's even a "Alonso is a wanker" Facebook group with plenty of members.
@ATGxQuadPimp haha there are a lot of facebook group against alonso, hamilton, raikkonen, vettel, it doesnt matter. big drivers have friends and enemies. alonso is one of them, GRANDE ALONSO
definitely alonso's fault. also, everyone stop saying badoer is a bad driver. he always drove bad cars at the start of his career, then got passed over by Ferrari in 1999. he truly believed his chance woulld come with ferrari (he even denied race contracts in 2000), but the media pressure, pressure from the fans, no recent testing and a, frankly, below average car weren't exactly the best conditions. i'm not saying he's race winning material, but he did beat coulthard and barrichello in f3000...
To everyone bitching about Badoer here: Watch the video properly - Alonso makes a mistake on a damp patch and he hits Badoer, not the other way around.
Funny how everyone calls Badoer a bad driver just because of his two races with Ferrari in 2009. That Ferrari was difficult to drive fast, especially for a driver who had hardly tested it. Heck, even Fisichella stuggled and by the time he took over from Badoer he was fimilarized with style the new machines had to be driven in. Because Raikkonen and Massa had a lot of pre-season testing, they already knew how to. And Badoer drove some shit cars in his career, so never scored points...
...although he nearly scored points in an Minardi at the 1999 European GP, before the car broke down. During his career before Ferrari from 1993, 1995-96, 1999, he only drove Lolas, Minardis and Fortis. And back in those days, you only recieved points from 1st - 6th place. Therefore, scoring points was even harder. Badoer showed his speed and talent in F3000 in 1992, winning the title by a twelve point margin. He had few oppurtunities to score in F1, and when he did something went wrong! Shame!!
@craigsimons1993 He should have been given Schumacher's car in 1999 when Schumi got injured. They nearly chose him, but in the end Salo was picked instead for some strange reason. Shame.
I agree with you, he is an easy target. He did well in F3000 as you say, and was close to points twice in that dreadful Minardi. And he has driven other crap cars as you said.
But now, because he's been seen doing bad in a Ferrari as well, it looks very bad. As Ferrari's are known for being good. But as you correctly say, it was a hard car to learn to use and drive. He hadn't driven the car since December 2008!!
They should have kept him on after giving him two races. Not a new guy to learn
It would be much better if there weren't these stupid bans in place on testing. a test driver should be allowed to keep practising his skills, and gaining some feedback on the car. Even if it was only limited.
He managed to finish both his races which I thought was very good, and only finished last in one of the races (I think)
One last comment sorry :D. I have just found that he was test driver for Ferrari since starting part time in 1997. He was their test driver in 1999 too. However when Schumi broke his leg, they gave the seat to Mika Salo who wasn't signed with the team!!
Poor old Luca, he would have definitely scored some points in that great car, Salo got a podium! And Luca would have finally broken his points deadlock.
@craigsimons1993 I still remember Badoer's heartbreaking retirement from the 1999 European Grand Prix when his Minardi's gearbox let go while running fourth.
@mouloudo The only testing allowed for 2009 was during the the pre-season testing sessions, and that is usually conducted by the drivers. So no, i don't think Badoer drove the car at all
@craigsimons1993 Mmm in a way i sort of agree, i dont think Badoer was ever going to amount to being much of a driver, but it true that Fisichella took some heat off Badoer, because he showed just how hard the car was to get used to. If im honest, going to Ferrari actually ruined Fisichellas career, he may have got another year with force india if he had stayed....
@craigsimons1993: Totally agree, but some people can't think that far. All his teammates didn't score except Gene, but u already said that. He was a decent driver, not godlike, but certainly decent. Could have scored if he had a better car to drive.
Hahaha. Hamilton is average)))) that is the most stupid thing I have ever heard. Did we watch the same season? Alonso had huge f1 experience and lost to the rookie in his first season. The problem was that this rookie had the equal status with him in the team. What happened in Hungary is so called stupid bastard behavior. Mc Laren was smart enough to kick this shit out. Why Ferrari always gathering such mediocre people?
)) yep. he is double champ. but actually 2005 title was resulted by significant changes in regulations. Hamilton is a perfect driver and he didn't lose in the first season. It is unbelivable for rookie. or probably champ is fake)
if it wasnt for a hydrolic failure though hamilton would be 2 time world champion and he will certainly win more i admit alonso is an amazing driver but he is not as good as hamilton or vettel

Actually, it is the stupidity of Badoer to let Alonso overtake on the inside in the wet without slowing down (plus, Badoer kept his car too much to the right hand side of the track). :-) Fernando was on a flying lap, Badoer was just cruising around (the purpose of which is??? - he must have been heading for the pits - on an "in lap").
Claro, el anda loco por ser piloto de Ferrari, porque el cree que con ellos va a ser campeon otra vez, deberia bajarse de esa nube y darse cuenta que solo tubo 2 años de buena suerte y mas nada!!

Badoer: "I wonder whats with Hamilton's up to"!
Alonso: "FUCK YOU..!"
*BAAMM*
Badoer: "Aren't these two team mates supposed to be friendly together??"
- NOTE: Badoer had early a true presentinemt about Alonso and Hamilton -
Hamy: "Have you seen anything interesting on the track, Fernando?"
Alonso: "Nope! Track is clear..." (now)

He did it again today in practice against Heidfield. And is it coincidence that Luca is back? =p Maybe he doesn't like him being around!

i think after the 2007 season with McLaren (when he has been treated bad from the team) Alonso has learn to keep the head on his neck...
sorry for my english btw :)
SoulOfSothe 2 years ago
treated bad!!!! he started it, stupid twat held hamilton up in the pits, which infuriated mclarent team
FRAFPDD 2 years ago 2
how did they treat him bad? They just said that both driver can take the vicotry.
And if Alosno is slower than an rookie with the same car it's not the team's fault.
LordAlton 2 years ago
I know your comment is more than 3 weeks old, accept my apologies.
Alonso had a problem in the team. And it was called Ron Dennis. Not LH
Ron Dennis wanted LH to win at all costs because it was his second child since karting. The team didn't treat him as an equal at all.

Nos quedamos con la mejor imagen que la ha protagonizado fernando alonso.
Si sacar un coche de la pista es la mejor imagen, apaga y vamonos.
FORZA FERRARI
medai213 3 years ago
I am not an Alonso fan or something, but in this case the Ferrari third driver should have given room - he was much slower.
jakubkrcma 3 years ago
Nah, yes. But actually Alonso was sliding on the wet track and hit Badoer
TimeKiller0924 3 years ago
Actually, it is the stupidity of Badoer to let Alonso overtake on the inside in the wet without slowing down (plus, Badoer kept his car too much to the right hand side of the track). :-) Fernando was on a flying lap, Badoer was just cruising around (the purpose of which is??? - he must have been heading for the pits - on an "in lap").
