I rooted and installed KaosFroyo yesterday on my Eris and after a whole day of playing around with it I really liked it but I went back to android 2.1 because right of the back I encountered several bugs like the internet would not work, the camera also did not function, and the battery only lasted 2 hours. The bottom line is that the Droid eris does not have the hardware or horsepower to run Froyo and I believe Verizon made the right choice by not releasing Froyo for the Eris.

It took me a couple of trys but got the Froyo 2.2.1 installed on my Droid Eris and this software is like having a totally new phone , and it does run now at 710 Mhz, about 200 Mhz faster than befour and got the tethering part hooked up. Thanks for the video Ryan 2 thumbs up!!!

Alright so when I boot up my phone I constantly have to restart my phone until I hit that blue android dude. Then while it's doing the timer it freezes and I have to take out my Battery and hopefully it doesnt freeze again. Help?

Let's see if you can help me here. I rooted my eris and downloaded Kaos Froyo Rom. I'm pretty good at getting around in the files system of my eris. My issue is that when I try to back up my current rom the phone reboots and goes to the install screen and does not complete the process. Any idea of what could be wrong? I'll post a video in a sec. @smnbikes maybe i should make a video showing how to get out of the boot loop sense so many people have trouble with this. But anyway to get back to your question to get your phone back to the way it was before (if you made a backup like a told you to in the video). Hold the volume up button while turning on the phone. hold it until it gets into the clockwordmod recovery thing. and scroll down to nandroid. then click on restore.

@JPraise100 Titanium backup makes a backup on the sd card so i just went to market and installed titanium backup then restored my apps, and my contacts automatically came back went i signed into my google account.

@Kwikspur this happend to me the first time i did this because i didnt wipe data and cache make sure you selected that option. If you created a backup like rom manager before flashing the froyo rom like i said to do. Then just boot into recovery and flash the backup.

I selected reboot the first time and it took me back to the factory settings. I then backed it up to where it had been before. That's where I am now. When it reboots from rom manager, and I selected wipe data etc., then it still asks me to apply update.zip. ???

@296Live try Going to ROM Manager, hit the Menu button, and Clear Download Cache. ALso where did you save the rom file on the sd card.
