its simple guys, coated strings will make a cheaper guitar sound great for longer, but on a real wood guitar meaning a solid top, and real rosewood back and sides or wtv, it will kill the true tone of the guitar, that simple
i just bought them and there to big so i waisted 20 dollars on strings tht suk ass i dont recomend them the guy handed me a pak and said they would be perfct for my guitar and to complain if i dont like em and i did but he didn give me a refund
Sound good to me. String brands are just to overrated. Get the cheapest you can rely on or some elixirs if you want them to last longer. You really want to sound good, then forget about the strings and learn guitar
@maheshandheather No it's not.. dude. The major factor about sound quality is how you fingers move. I mean, John Mayer with some wrotten strings still rocks while most people still suck with 20$ strings
@mrvlhs please bro you dont even sound smart. "how your fingers move" come on dude.. i have elixers on my guitar you have some sucky martins and we have the same exact guitar and we strum our guitars open the elixirs are going to sound way better than yours.. and of coarse other factors come in to for sound quality, type of guitar, level of skill set but string play a very important role crapy string to me sound dead so you telling me if i can play better i can make the string sound better?
@maheshandheather If you think music is about gear you are wrong. I don't use martins and my strings have 2 months, and probably a hell lot of hours on them. The factor strings is eliminated by so many other factors when it comes to sound... you can equalize it, add fx... an infinity of options that go beyond any tweaking you can do by changing strings brand lol. But hey, if you want to remain with the same opinion, please do, I really don't care. I fell the same about religious people
@mrvlhs lol. honestly, strings do make a difference in your tone, depending on it's gauge and what it's made up of. d'addarios EJ16's sounds really nice fresh out of the pack, but i love the feeling of elixirs 80/20's. i don't like martin strings...
wonder why JM always uses strats? cuz that's what he's comfortable with and that's what he plays best.
"sound quality" comes from your gear. but the actual music comes from the player. ;]
@wakeboarder860 even on an electric guitar, the sustain and tone differs amongst different gauges. but yea, it isn't as noticeable as an acoustic guitar. :)
@alexohisyellow I've notice with a good electric guitar the wood and amp matter more and it's more about playability and what tuning you prefer but i mean lighter strings will always be a somewhat brighter than thicker strings of course but the guitar materials and amp quality matter more in my opinion.
@wakeboarder860 OF COURSE! i think most of the sound of what an electric guitarist plays comes from an amp. and it's tonal characteristics, in terms of high/mids/lows all come from the wood, as well as sustain.
this is all to say, EVERYTHING comes together to make that special tone of a guitar. it's quite an art, no? :)
I love how local music stores try and push every other string on people except elixirs. I just can't stand the finger-squeak associated with normal strings. I know 2 music stores that don't even sell elixirs lol.
I have Elixir strings "polyweb" . It's nice for Finger Picking style other Flat Picking . Very great strings . Tanks for your nice demo . Good and funny ...

@alexohisyellow Ya strings do matter when it comes to tone especially on an acoustic. It slightly on an electric but on an acoustic it's essential.
