  • Excellent! *Thumbs up*

  • Thanks.

  • I missed this, don't know why. It's great!

  • Thanks Ralf. You seem to have a real way with Neil Young.

  • @KenMiddletonUkulele Ah - no, not really. It's just a current phase...

  • Suberb (again)

    Great video Ken!

  • Thank you.

  • Excellent! I´m a big N.Young fan and you have done a great job. Uke sounds good too! Your singing is not worse than Neil´s ... just joking..;)

  • Thank you.

  • How long until I can do a rendition like this myself? (My current uke level = suck)

  • I don't know. It took me 50 years. You may be able to do it in less.

(Just joking about the last bit).

  • Love it Ken!

  • Thanks.

  • Brilliant interpretation of this song Ken! I love the variety you always put into your playing. You've been a real inspiration to me to vary my strumming/picking throughout songs seeing I love how you do it so much. Great job on this one!

  • Thank you, Michelle. I always think it makes the song more interesting.

  • Love the strumming in this one Ken. And the singing was just fine.

  • Thank you Brad.

  • Liked a lot, and I could not detect your vocal problems. Neil Young is an interesting writer/performer. That is what makes him special. Your performance reflected that to us.

  • Just a bad throat, Lynda. Nothing to worry about. And yes, I agree about NY.

  • I love this song !

    Thanks for posting it ;-)

    Val

  • Thanks Val.

  • Very good Ken !!!

    5 *****

    Ciao !!!

    Alberto

  • Grazie tante, Alberto.

  • Great job Mr,Ken!!

Neil Young is my favorite singer.

  • Thanks Tsutomu.

  • hey ken,

just wondering if you could do a version of Neil young's Down by the River. it is my favorite song by him.

    Keep playing

    -JP

  • Maybe I will, but it won't be for a while yet, I'm afraid. Great suggestion though.

  • gosh, wow 5/5

  • Thank you.

  • Ken, I'm thinking about how lucky a woman your wife is. She lives with you under one roof and she could hear you sing everyday and any time of the day. A song can only be as beautiful as the voice that sings it.

  • If only my wife thought the same ...

In truth, she is a great encouragement.

  • wow ken! this sounds so so great.

beautiful playing and amazing voice. perfect!

  • Hi Aly. Thank you.

  • Excellent performance!

  • Thank you.

  • good tone

  • Thanks.

  • Awesome version of a great song Ken! Great strumming and sweet singing. I don't think you sound that drunk...

  • Thanks R. Just at the beginning I was slurring my words.

  • Maybe you should have had a toddy to ease the throat. :)

  • You may be right.

  • Great cover Ken! Neil is the man and this song is... more than I can say.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Paolo

  • Thanks for the comment, Paolo.

  • very nice! I really like the variations in the strumming, very dramatic.

  • Thanks MrP. I never do a fixed strumming pattern unless the song needs it.

  • A lovely rendition, Ken. I really like the assertive strumming in this.

  • Thank you very much.

  • really nice take on this Ken. one of my fav's.

  • Thank you B.

  • love this tune, great job Ken

  • Thanks HH.

  • really nice Ken .

  • Thanks Stephen.

  • nice cover ken once again

  • Thanks.

  • thanks for the neil, always love to hear him!!

  • Thank you.

  • Excellent! :)

  • Thanks Wilfried.

  • awesome cover Ken! i like the variations in your strumming. this and boozelele's version are both great in their own ways.

  • B's version is superb. Understated and quiet.

  • very cool ken,nicely done,great sound...

  • Thank you, Dan.

  • Oh, I wish I'd done this one Ken - I love the song and your version is quite excellent - sore throat or no.

  • Thanks Tony. I'm amazed it hasn't been recorded more.

  • I've never heard this song before, love the lyrics, wow! Great job Ken, as always, even with a sore throat! I hope you're not coming down with anything! Bless you X

  • I don't get colds. But unfortunately this time I have one.

  • kem -Pretty damned good - as always.

  • Thanks Stew.

  • NICE!!! Fragile and sincere!

got to get me one of those kalinea's!

  • It is fragile partly because my voice has gone. But thanks very much.

  • just amazing ken! such a great song, i remember being blown away when i heard it on the 'live rust' album. the uke really works on this number. well done!

  • Thank you, Jeff.

  • It's very cool to hear the uke in the left channel and you in the middle right. Headphones are a must here.

  • I got a little distortion which I think I managed to edit out. Thanks Alan.

  • Mr Young has commented that he cannot remember what he was thinking about when he wrote that song, and it has had tons of interpretations.

It seems to span three time spans with ancient knights and a simpler time, a modern ecological period where things are going environmentally wrong, and a future period of redemption when the chosen will be delivered to a better place.

It is a rather mystical song that fires ancient arrows to pierce your heart.

  • To be honest with you Robert, I've often wondered exactly what it was about. It was one of those songs that was always on the record player while I discussed important issues like nuclear weapons, Carlos Castaneda, Mao's agricultural policies and the like.

  • I agree with you. It's the first time I've heard this song but I've interpreted it as about enviromental stuff and the effects humans have had on the Earth. I find it beautiful but disturbing at the same time lol. X

  • I just sing the words. No idea what they mean ... When he sings it today he changes "nineteen seventies" for "21st century".

  • Excellent Ken. You really captured the mood of the song.

  • Thank you, Deach. It's a song I remember so well. And it's almost 40 years ago now, I was at college ...

  • My favourite Neil Young song and you didn't disappoint. Really excellent. I couldn't give you enough stars for this. Breath taking!

  • Wow! That's a really generous comment, Shane.

  • wonderful job Ken

  • Thanks very much.
