i adore this interpretation! its definately one of the most famous recordings, not without reason!
anyway... i made a recording on my own, and i would really like to get some feedback on it... of course, its nowhere near horowitz, but its how i feel this piece of music. dear critics, please, visit my channel or just insert this into the url to get to the video:
Horowitz, even at such an advanced age, out performed at least 90% of everyone else. He plays this little piece with elegance & grace. It's amazing to watch how his hands work. It's as though he could balance a glass of wine on the back of his hands while playing. Horowitz achieved an inimitable tonal quality that became, like his pedaling, his trademark. Technically, this is an easy piece to play. To play it like Horowitz; that's an entirely different matter. Phenomenal!

It's incomprehensible how people can hear a piece played so badly and yet swear that it's well done. Horowitz can't even correctly maintain the tempo . He slows down then speeds up. So many strange pauses. So much uncalled for alteration in dynamics. And he tries to pass it off as "style." No, not style. It's ineptitude. People! LISTEN!
and those who see clearly with laugh that he's making such a clown of himself..
And his blind disciples will scream at the laughers "Stop! Shut up! Be quiet! It's not true it can't be oh my god they're laughing at my hero how can i bear it!.."
V-etc. is Kajohada, who has at least 10 YouTube accounts, and has been (because he's so so in love with vladimir) pursuing me for months now. LokoPiano is one of his from he used to have conversations with himself. He uses language translators to feign knowlege of languages other than his native phillipino.

"touch," yes, there's that word again. And don't we all admire this famous "touch." Until it occurs to us that it's his one talent, like a writer with a talent for similes. And nothing else. Shouldn't we at last yell "stop telling us what it's LIKE." And his inability to give us anything at all of value, this he call his "style."
No, ladies and gentlemen, that's not a screw up. He intended to do it that way.
schubert's space was somewhere between life and death, in an intangible place of almost neurotic peace that somehow calms the soul at its most troubled. Horowitz is beautiful as always.

Horowitz can even make an innocent miniature like this sound riveting.

To the dummy who's thinking of asking "but where are your symphonies?"
I don't have symphonies. And no, I can't play this piece well. But, also . . . I don't pretend to.

you are the famous lokopiano . ha !
after sir brendel , here comes horowitz .
i love horowitz not because he's horowitz but because of his " out of law " playing , and it gives a wider landscape .

In horowitz playing the music raises to an infinite amount.
Shyrk 2 years ago
it seems that the spirit of schubert came to the musikverein and made horowitz play like he wants it. just incredible!

hmm...I'm currently playing this piece on the piano. My tiny hands have trouble reaching the correct notes. =.=

I'm very sorry, but I hear more music in one minute of Horowitz than in an hour of Kissin.
PianoClassMan 3 years ago 13
Kissin is but a mere child compared to this giant.
OverFjell 3 years ago 3
Regrettably, Kissin seems not to shine anymore when he gets older. But Horowitz is still on top even when he's dead. haiz~
bunnyoneedge 3 years ago 4
horowitz, richter, gilels. different league to kissin.

This was amazing! The voicing and clarity that he puts into every single note is perfect. His phrasing couldn't have been any better.
This entire Vienna recital is probably one of the best examples of his playing, next to the Moscow video.
