Pff, he'd probably butterfly-twist over his head and stab him in the back of the neck. With all that agility, flexibility, and speed acquired through Wushu, why waste time trying to fight a fully armored tank of a warrior head on? If such a battle was ever set up, the wise thing to do would be use the advantages of Wushu to their full extent.
Zhao qing jian's basics are good but his routines doesnot instill the kind of thrill Yuan Xiao Chao or Yuan Wen Qing's routine have. All this hype about him....i wonder would he get if he was not in the Beijing team?
you probably haven't seen his performances firsthand. He visited the studio I go to and he had a slightly different and longer broadsword form. It was epic!
@CMAT17 I am of the old school. I grew up watching Zhao Chang Jun and Yuan Wen Qing. Their routines have a certain form of rhythm and flow building up to an explosive movement. Among todays players you find such with Yuan Xiao Chao. Zhao Qing Jian movements though are basically sound and clear, they are kind of heavy and there are to many breaks to include the jumps thereby killing the rhythm and flow. Check the 10th China games videos.
@p4v1l0ndrumm3r Right, though the routine were simpler, the best I have seen is Yuan Wen Qing at the 1990 International Wushu Championships at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
don't get me wrong, I worship Zhao Qing Jian, but my opinion is now he's so hyped up (for good reason I'll admit) all he has to do is walk on the carpet and he gets the gold. That was awesome but 9.85...? No way.
Hmm, but I disagree IMHO. He basically pwned the other athletes in terms of speed, power, 身形, 跳跃, and that btwist 720 (which in all of WWC history, has never been done before on the carpet) -- even though difficulty movements are not the essence of a 套路。 Still, I think he deserved that 9.85. Haha but I do agree that it's entirely possible for the judges to have a preconceived perspective though. Just a few thoughts about this. =)

But I wonder how he would match up against a real medieval or ancient warrior that actually has been to numerous real sword battles.

niu bi is slang for awesome.
I really dont see what the problem is...
Adamo0 3 years ago
no problem at all.... it only means "Cow's Vagina" that's all ;)
(actually adamo0 is right, it's a slang kids word, not to be taken literally, but in certain environments it should not be used i guess)

Just imagine the look on the other competitors' faces when they realized they were going up against Zhao Qing Jian himself.
