the guy that runs up after him to the rooftop couldn't save him...that was kinda sad but i think the really capturing imagery is at the end of the film before the credits when there's the drawing on the ground and his shadow is right beside it! that's a great form of symbolism even though i can't make out what it means but that's the beauty of it i guess...

The guy who ran up the stairs (Kujo) to save his friend (Aoki) was painting this thing on his desk earlier in the movie and said he doesn't know why he painted it when he was asked by Aoki.

Aoki gave it a meaning now.
