great drummer although i'm not a fan of "stragetic proggy" style, muted drumheads and zildjian cymbals when it comes to led zeppelin covers but awesome drumming anyway :)

...okay bro, agreed that you are fkn awsome, and look like a chubbey Chad Smith...but wha's with the disappearing hat trick (hi-hat jingles). come clean..how many takes ...how many edits!!!! #_@
@shimamaxx If you see three angles in the video then it was done in three takes. I don't have three cameras to do it live. I think alternating between three angles is more enjoyable to watch then just one. And yes I guess the first take was with the Ching-Ring on there then I realized and took it off! - You win the prize! I can assure you that each of the individual takes are as good as the final edit one!
@TheDrumChannel ha, nice! thanks for clearing that up. I agree it is more enjoyable to watch, and looks more professional to boot. you play very well.
OMG! This video is so addicting! I CAN"T STOP!!! I cannot get enough. No kidding, I'm not one to leave a commet, but thank you. When my day is going like sh#t, I come home and crank this up and beat the hell out of my drum kit.. I should be sending you cash, because it's my therapy.
Great bass drum. My ankle started to ache and I was just watching. There's a fill at the end that usually gets me to just drop my sticks and say "screw that" did you skip it?
This is great instruction simply because I recognized every thing you did as correct for the song. Nicely done.
@DrummingBonham It's funny I get comments like "i love the sound of your snare" and I can't figure out what they are talking about. I think it sounds pretty bad in this video.
@jimihendrixtribute Ha - I must be going deaf but I though the snare sounded like crap on this song. So much that I am re-recording it for a future collaboration! But to answer your question, It's a Ludwig chrome snare, deep (I think 6.5 inches but I may be wrong) and there are no other markings on it so I don't know what model. Believe me, if you heard the raw wav file, you wouldn't think it sounded that good. I just EQ it a bit a and add some reverb - that's it - all done inside of Sony Vegas.
@BlackWhiskeyBlaze It was just an sm-57 about an inch away. The raw file doesn't sound that good. I use Sony Vegas and a plugin called sonitus - just reverb and a little EQ.

@inderocker17 I guess there are many ways to play it. I never really watched any videos of that break to see what he was doing. It sounds close enough but I'm sure there is that little something that he does to make it sound just right.
@TheDrumChannel well there are many ways but only one way bonham did it .... now if you'd like to see America's Mr. Bonham do it ( with some extras ) Yes with some extras.. go to my page and look 12 th one down under uploads .......... great job TDC

@instantbrother Thanks so much for taking the time to write such a nice comment. I just play what I am hearing and however it comes out - it comes out. I'll take that suggestion as I really do need a few more cymbals.
hey guys..i post this comment just to say my opinion about this song..i believe this is one of the hardest songs to play on drums and one of the best songs music humanity has ever known..whoever has the ability to play this song almost like John Bonham is a very very high-skilled and creative drummer..Led Zeppelin....
@siskalon Thanks so much for the kind words. Yes Bonham was the man - Imagine what we would have heard all these years if he hadn't passed away. Such a waste - It would have been fantastic.
@TheDrumChannel I think steamtrain1978 means less kick as far as mixing. As for more sustain, that has to do with muting on the drums and possibly compression, compression especially for the cymbals. Speaking of compression, the kick sounded too compressed to me. If it's not compressed, then you have the most consistent foot ever.
Very tough track to play after 4 min. or so on your foot.Great job man.I have played it to many times and it always kicks my ass !!!! Gotta love John Bonham !!! Awesome !!!

steamtrain1978 1 year ago
@steamtrain1978 Well I'm not a sound producer as every video should get a little better.
Bonham was known for his footwork, having that heavy foot placed
in just the right spots. I'm not sure what "less kick" means as I thought the footwork was accurate to the record. Thanks
TheDrumChannel 1 year ago
@TheDrumChannel I think steamtrain1978 means less kick as far as mixing. As for more sustain, that has to do with muting on the drums and possibly compression, compression especially for the cymbals. Speaking of compression, the kick sounded too compressed to me. If it's not compressed, then you have the most consistent foot ever.
