  • awesome!

  • At first I was like WTF is that giant kick! ...neverminnnnd. :)

  • good ......

  • snare sound so good

  • The balls it took to cover this entire song....Such an epic song. You rock man. I'll be watching more of your stuff to learn more! Rock On!

  • Gracias. Muy bueno. Me gusto mucho.

  • wtf a ching ring and than it disappears

  • I hope you're going to let people use this for covers...

  • What a cover! Wish I could play that half as good as you...Respect!. Awesome bass drum...love that inserted image. Keep on rockin'...

  • great drummer although i'm not a fan of "stragetic proggy" style, muted drumheads and zildjian cymbals when it comes to led zeppelin covers but awesome drumming anyway :)

  • I really appreciated your drumming... do more video please (why not Metropolis part 1 from dream Theater)

  • great job!

  • Fantastic cover! Rock on :)

  • ..I'm sure they were!! you are doing a fkn amazing job. The wonton song was really helpful. Pls keep making these awsome vids..maybe one day tou'll have your own camera crew!! #_@

  • ...okay bro, agreed that you are fkn awsome, and look like a chubbey Chad Smith...but wha's with the disappearing hat trick (hi-hat jingles). come clean..how many takes ...how many edits!!!! #_@

  • @shimamaxx If you see three angles in the video then it was done in three takes. I don't have three cameras to do it live. I think alternating between three angles is more enjoyable to watch then just one. And yes I guess the first take was with the Ching-Ring on there then I realized and took it off! - You win the prize! I can assure you that each of the individual takes are as good as the final edit one!

  • @TheDrumChannel ha, nice! thanks for clearing that up. I agree it is more enjoyable to watch, and looks more professional to boot. you play very well.

  • excelenteee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • also, i think im in love with you...

  • @yomama0708 Thanks, but I hope your not a dude!

  • nice hat man

  • OMG! This video is so addicting! I CAN"T STOP!!! I cannot get enough. No kidding, I'm not one to leave a commet, but thank you. When my day is going like sh#t, I come home and crank this up and beat the hell out of my drum kit.. I should be sending you cash, because it's my therapy.

  • @sbizkit08 Wow - I'm glad your getting that therapy - Of course you can always send cash - I would buy some new cymbals! - Thanks so much

  • Awesome man!!!!!!!!

  • @DrumsMakesNoise Thank You

  • i loved this alot, thanks for posting it

  • @pjsbulldog67 Your Welcome

  • hey i have pinstripe in my toms and aquarian in my snare too :D

  • @JustForComments666 And it's time for new ones!

  • Hey man...one question...did you make 2 takes to record this? Because in one takes I see a tambourine in your hi hat and in the other no :/

I'm not criticising the way you play, this is a awesome cover of a awesome song =) I just wanted to ask you =)

    Cheers mate! And good cover...

  • @santuka18 Yes - I think maybe 3 takes and then edited them all together. I believe I must have taken it off for one of them.

  • well done as always dude. peace

  • @bassdudeman22 Thanks so much

  • Great bass drum. My ankle started to ache and I was just watching. There's a fill at the end that usually gets me to just drop my sticks and say "screw that" did you skip it?

This is great instruction simply because I recognized every thing you did as correct for the song. Nicely done.

  • @stersnevet77 I'm not sure what fill you are talking about - At what time in the video are you referring to?

  • you can hear the song in the background if you really listen

  • @tuckah4545 Hence the title "well almost"

  • This song is a masterpiece.I didn't believe that 'man',can play the whole song live.only in studio.ok.you are GR8 man.respect.

  • @salonicas Thanks - it is a great song. I'm just copying it. JB made it happen

  • Brilliant.

  • @madeIinetucker Thank You

  • Snare sounds too tight? I am amazed by your drums but I agree with you the snare was way too tight or too edited

  • @DrummingBonham It's funny I get comments like "i love the sound of your snare" and I can't figure out what they are talking about. I think it sounds pretty bad in this video.

  • Great playing great snare sound

  • @RixGuitar Thank so much

  • dude your kit sounds awesome.great playing

  • @Rhiannon0423 Thank you for listening

  • Fantastic

  • @khizay Thanks for listening

  • Wow. Very good job!

  • Awesome!

What kind of heads do you use as I am thinking of replacing mine?

  • @zelethaltaco those are remo pinstripe.

  • very goog man!!! muy bueno man!! bravo

  • May I ask what you do to your snare to make it sound that great? And what kind of snare is it?

  • @jimihendrixtribute Ha - I must be going deaf but I though the snare sounded like crap on this song. So much that I am re-recording it for a future collaboration! But to answer your question, It's a Ludwig chrome snare, deep (I think 6.5 inches but I may be wrong) and there are no other markings on it so I don't know what model. Believe me, if you heard the raw wav file, you wouldn't think it sounded that good. I just EQ it a bit a and add some reverb - that's it - all done inside of Sony Vegas.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheDrumChannel How did you originally mic your snare, and what sort of EQ tips can you give me on achieving this sound? Thanks.

  • @BlackWhiskeyBlaze It was just an sm-57 about an inch away. The raw file doesn't sound that good. I use Sony Vegas and a plugin called sonitus - just reverb and a little EQ.

  • Dude, I love the sound of your toms....what heads do you use? and where'd you get the hi hat mounted tambourine? I really want one.

Also great cover. It really showed me all that Bonzo is really doing with the bass (and how much friggin work i have to do! haha).

  • @TheApostleofRock They are Remo pin stripes - I'm sure you can get a HH mounted tambourine - just search "ching ring" (about $15) - Yes the foot is the whole song as far as I'm concerned.

  • This is one of my favorite Zep songs to play on drums...but I can't do the bass like you man. Your right foot must be related to John. Any chance of you making a recording of Nobodys Fault But Mine???? That would be awesome

  • @CaptHandsome42 I'll try - I love that song.

  • killer feel!

    single foot master

  • @TheHabit00 Thanks

  • Lol nice definitely great cover. Lol his ching-ring dissapears at around like 22 secs

  • Comment removed

  • @WindyFellow - Not sure what you are seeing here (or what you are not seeing) but there is only one bass drum beater and it is operated by only one foot. I don't have a double pedal

  • Really great. Very true to the original.

  • @Nokkieification Thanks - I appreciate that

  • @TheDrumChannel

Absolute SHRED, you made my sunday morning at work and customers here at my shop smiling too.

  • @salmonator231 Glad to make a few people smile. Thanks so much

  • @TheDrumChannel

Absolute SHRED, you made my sunday morning at work and customers here at my shop smiling too.

  • Perfect, what a sick drum part!

  • @Maximuscu Thanks - but you need to thank John for that.

  • Impressive!

    Has everyone seen this?

Can't post active links here, so copy, paste, add the dot and remove the spaces.

    saladrecords com / bonhamfiles.htm

  • @WayMoreGuitar Great Bonham tracks on that website - thanks

  • this is the worst thing i have ever seen. your drum set looks like shit.

  • @brandonambro OK - what would make it look better? Should I paint it or something?

  • Hey!!! this is amazing.. We're living parallel lives... Drummer, videographer, Zep and Rush fan... I better get to the wood shed.....

  • Most Impressive :) GREAT JOB!

  • uggly chemical sound.... gonna vomit

  • @CosmicSPC Don't forget your puke bag!

  • @TheDrumChannel that sound is terrbile! fix it up and it would be pretty fucking good

  • Great playing. And Singing! :D Hah!

  • @kustenkus Thanks

  • I was hoping to see the fill at 2:22 nailed, close though. Ohh well, It's a doozie.

  • @inderocker17 I guess there are many ways to play it. I never really watched any videos of that break to see what he was doing. It sounds close enough but I'm sure there is that little something that he does to make it sound just right.

  • @TheDrumChannel well there are many ways but only one way bonham did it .... now if you'd like to see America's Mr. Bonham do it ( with some extras ) Yes with some extras.. go to my page and look 12 th one down under uploads .......... great job TDC

  • Excellent job TDC!! I 've played this before , it's a fun song but quite the mini marathon and very intense!!

  • @bluebrett70 Yes it is but a lot of fun to play.

  • that snare drum sounds like sex

  • @Clnt874 Wow I'm glad you think that but I think it sounds like crap - so much that I am re-recording it for a virtual collab - but thanks

  • thats awesome man outstandingly tight, this song is interesting because it almost has a Peart feel to it more than Bonham

  • @MathewGCBB That's an interesting analogy. Probably because I played a lot of Rush back in the 80's Thanks so much

  • too sick

  • @HEISTR420 Thanks

  • Great backtrack for guitar :D Excellent work!

  • You just can't help but want to sing along, eh? Excellent! I'm humbled.

  • @BeachIT4Life Thanks a lot - I appreciate it. Yes I like to sing along - I wish I could sing better.

  • @TheDrumChannel For what it's worth, this is my single favorite drum video on YouTube. I'm biased, because I am a huge Led Zep fan, but your performance is stellar, and I'm inspired by it. That fill around 1:09 is jaw dropping.

  • Really enjoyed your performance! Great sound and amazing to watch...thanks!

  • try it with a single kick like the Master

  • @mjw9363 It is a single kick

  • @mjw9363 fail fagget, this dude fucking rocks

  • @accountname098 half the power of the Master...and speaking a "fail"...wanna know what a "fail" is???? someone who can't spell, "fagget"...you Faggot

  • @mjw9363 alright alright, faggot. you happy? your still a fagget. go play the power rangers theme song on your gaytar. bet you would suck bonham dry if he were alive

  • I can the song very faintly in the background. Great cover though.

  • u should get a splash simble to

  • came across your channel very awsome my friend do you know any kiss.would love to se ya drum to detroit rock city or something like that.keep rockin.

  • Green screened!

  • f----ing eh mate fan fing tastic

  • Jesus. You are a great Fu(king drummer man... Just great timing, great rock drum sounds... Great rock groove. You are like the ONE percent on YouTube that actually understands the groove of rock. You sound like a cross between Denny Carmassi and John Bonham. Just great drumming! If I could make a suggestion, throw a china cymbal in your set up just to add some effects. You are just great man!

  • @instantbrother Thanks so much for taking the time to write such a nice comment. I just play what I am hearing and however it comes out - it comes out. I'll take that suggestion as I really do need a few more cymbals.

  • that was SWEET! I have always loved that tune mainly due to the drums and you really nailed it. Lovely sound!

  • @lukatme2 Thank you so much

  • Very nice oh yes beautifull

  • Wow, it's fascinating !

  • This is one of my favorite Led Zep songs and you did a fantastic job! I always imagined that this would be a difficult one to do. Bravo!

  • Amazing!!!

  • good job! :D i wish i knew how to play this, and i wish i had a drum set -.-

  • That's a fast right foot for ya. Great job.

  • @openroad88 Thanks - I appreciate that

  • @TheDrumChannel

Yeah...Nice job guy! Your signal on that snare sounds nice and tight. Good foot and accurate breaks.

What kind of snare is that?

  • the first fast fill

  • hey guys..i post this comment just to say my opinion about this song..i believe this is one of the hardest songs to play on drums and one of the best songs music humanity has ever known..whoever has the ability to play this song almost like John Bonham is a very very high-skilled and creative drummer..Led Zeppelin....

  • @siskalon Thanks so much for the kind words. Yes Bonham was the man - Imagine what we would have heard all these years if he hadn't passed away. Such a waste - It would have been fantastic.

  • Awesome!!!

  • @ramrambatti Thanks

  • oooh nasty...sounds like portnoy....let your drums sing dude...less kick...more sustain...let the notes do the work

  • @steamtrain1978 Well I'm not a sound producer as every video should get a little better.

Bonham was known for his footwork, having that heavy foot placed

in just the right spots. I'm not sure what "less kick" means as I thought the footwork was accurate to the record. Thanks

  • @TheDrumChannel I think steamtrain1978 means less kick as far as mixing. As for more sustain, that has to do with muting on the drums and possibly compression, compression especially for the cymbals. Speaking of compression, the kick sounded too compressed to me. If it's not compressed, then you have the most consistent foot ever.

  • When you very lightly put your hand on the snare drum are you making it more high piched or making it to where the sound wont ring as badly?

  • @niczosozeppelin Ring as badly

  • Hey, I'm a bass player, and I enjoyed the heck out of this. Thanks!

  • @LastBandOnEarth Thanks - Glad you enjoyed it.

  • Insane \o/

  • @idaniels Thanks

  • Awesome man!!!!!!

  • @bd1956 Thanks

  • Very tough track to play after 4 min. or so on your foot.Great job man.I have played it to many times and it always kicks my ass !!!! Gotta love John Bonham !!! Awesome !!!

  • @bd1956 - Yes I wish he had been around for the last 30 yrs. Can u imagine?

  • Perfect!

  • @popeck27 Thank You

  • that snare sound is sooooo nice! all in all awesome!

  • @holyflerkinshnit Thanks - The sound on this one could have been a lot better imo. But thanks!

  • its funny how you sing along with the song

  • @Linkin1122 If only I could sing....

  • Excellent, fantastic job on this

  • @MrBonzoEd Thank You

  • Good job :)

  • what is the roll at 1:09 between the snare and toms

  • @drex48239 Just a single stroke roll with an accent on the left & right hand

xxxxxXXxxxxXXxxxxXXxxxx - the first x is the right hand - the first capital X is the left hand - the second capital X is the right hand - I think that is it.

  • @TheDrumChannel cool thanks

  • Good job on what I think are the coolest fills of this song at 2:23 and 5:23.

  • Okaay, how come there's a tamborine at 0:45 then it's gone around 0:52?

  • @RosaRose168 Because I am also a magician! - JK. I record it in 3 takes and I guess I took the tambourine off in one of them.

  • really impressive... amazing.. sound almost like him... even in the muted snare!!! really cool...

  • do u got any tips for learning this song

  • @luckyluciano36420 Well it is actually very repetitive. If there is a specific part that you need help with, I'll see if I can help. Having a good memory would be the biggest factor.

  • Great playing. The only suggestion I'd make is put the resonant heads back on and take the tape off the toms. Let the drums breathe!!

  • @Caulculon69 - Ok Thanks - I always try differnt things.

  • yeah love the kick cam! nice drumming man!

  • @pbc68 Thanks

  • brilliant cover, helped me figure some of it out, your snare sounds kinda weird to me though LOL it was kinda distracting but still awesome cover

  • @zD3VASTAT10N Thanks - yea kind of a bad sound on that snare - eeh? Oh well, each one is a learning experience

  • how the hell do you do the fast fills

  • @luckyluciano36420 - I don't know but it is fun to do. Thanks

  • Really amazing playing I happily sat through the entire 9.52 to me you nailed it and I'm guessing this isnt an easy one So congradulations and my thanks for recreating it.

  • @ham60 Thanks so much for sitting through it. Bonham probably played this 100 different ways. I'm just copying one of them. To copy is easy - to create is harder. My hat goes off to Bonham and thank you too.

  • The group that owns this song won't let me illegally upload it onto the Internet! I'm going to post angry comments about them on a Youtube video channel because I'm such a rebel and think we should all get free music forever!

  • @Onsube 100% agree!!!

  • Woah! Impressive cover....best I have seen so far. Keep the faith.

  • @lkoury Thanks so much
