  • With all murmurs the sound begins at the involved valve and radiates along the axis of fluid movement during the murmur, so AS will radiate into the carotids and axillaries. Be sure that carotid bruit you hear is not AS

  • FYI: Aortic Stenosis occurs during systole of LV. Since Aortic valve is stenosed sometimes LV pressure reaches 300mmHg while pressure in Aorta remains normal. Therefor during systole blood jetting out at a tremendous velocity through small opening of Aortic valve.

    The turbulent blood against Aortic wall causes "Intense Vibration" & "Loud murmur". its so loud it can be heard several feed away from patient and vibration can be felt on the "Upper chest" & "Lower neck" a phenomenon called "thrill"
