I've seen numerous references on music sites claiming Cat Power & Mazzy Star have something in common, but I don't hear it, & Cat's singing style sounds nothing like Hope Sandoval's, to my ears. I prefer Mazzy. Hope has one of the more emotive voices, around with a rare talent few writers have for consistently writing melodies that move listeners.

Best of all, Mazzy's back with their 1st new release (a single) in 15 years, & are doing some live shows this year. Yay!

She never seems comfortable with what she's singing except perhaps for some records. I hope she straightens out, and gets some confidence in herself, cause from what i've heard, its clear she can.

Look up the interviews with her on here and she talks about the first time she sang sober and was amazed that she had all these fans who'd stuck with her through all the erratic on-stage behavior when she was drinking. Pretty amazing lady.
