  • this piece just wants to make u cry . EUPHONIUMS FTW !!

  • high school did this for all county honors ;w; so pretty.sadly the oboe player messed up on her solo, but i loved it.i hope to play this one day.

  • It is amazing... I just got back from the OSU High School Honor Band and we played this song. It is truely amazing of the power of the music. It was incredible because proffesor Allen actually commisioned this peice for his twin sister. Some pretty powerful music

  • @LADBLEE I honestly had some tears every time I played it. Every time.

  • this is the piece of music that made me want to devote my life to music. It will always an incredibly special place in my heart. It is powerful beyond words to me.

  • I played this back when I was in high school. It was an amazing piece that much of the band enjoyed playing because of it's beauty. It brought tears to my eyes then, and it still does.

  • I'm a child abuse survivor and we played this my junior year of high school. It really hit me hard and helped with the pain.

  • @malirulez thats the power of music

  • I absolutely love the chords at 6:36

    Ahhhhhh!!!

  • I've played in my school's concert band for over 5 years. This has been the most fun song to play out of everything by far! Love it!

  • Hm...finding out this song was about child abuse almost ruined it for me. In my opinion, it doesn't really fit that theme at all. What I can see, however, is it fitting with child labor during the industrial revolution. I'm not quite sure why, but the song really brings up pictures of that in my head.

  • @Klagmar If you listen closely you hear a lot of children's songs throughout the piece. There is also a lot of descending minor thirds, which is considered one the most recognizable intervals for children.

  • Im sorry but i just can not get over this piece and many other Camphouse pieces. His choice of chords is just unmatched. Simply beautiful

  • @Beanerliciouslmoan thank you?

  • @TomyDunne yes the euphonium part is freakin amazing

  • A beautiful peice that I had the privilage to play my Junior year. Listening to it now I can see the music in my head and can't believe it's only been months since my band played this... Epic... :)

  • @BeastingForever I love you.

  • @BeanerliciousImoan I love you more :* :* And don't start talking about sharks...

  • I can't stop coming back to this video. Ever since last year it has been stuck on me. Same thing with John De Meij's stuff.

  • We're learning this piece in the Univ. of Alabama Symphonic Band right now, and it is so much fun! I love this piece.

  • I played this song in my high school my Senior year. we preformed it in front of some judges and we won a superior. we worked to hard on this piece. i brings chills down my back every time we played it. i cryed the last time i got to play this. This is a very Powerful piece of music!

  • love the hit at 7:00 is that where the child is supposed to be killed? it sort of sounds like it.

  • @myshilohmy I took it as the child getting abused and just giving up on fighting back and then the next part being a dream that becomes a nightmare.

I actually had a whole story line in my mind lol

  • i love this song! Mark did a phenomenal job on this one.

  • When I went to Carnegie Hall with my orchestra from Coral Park Senior High School to play this piece, we won first place that year 2001

  • playing this first year of high school. most moving piece i have ever heard or played...amazing

  • @brookie231000 Moving? have you heard havendance

  • @Hector95100 nah i havent, im not familiar with many pieces yet, im only a freshman in high school... but im getting there, who is it by?

  • @brookie231000 yea. lol. get more into music. im a freshman too and i think that i have a good future ahead of me in music :) besides havendance is nothing like watchmen. its more upbeat and accenting things. its a great piece

  • @Hector95100 ohhh sounds cool(: have you heard vesuvius? we played it this year for contest

  • It takes extreme maturity to play this piece. My 10-12 grade band is currently playing this, and the nuts and bolts are there, it's just putting it together and adding the maturity. As my directior would say, of course.

  • 7:35 our band has a freshman playing that baritone solo. not good :(

  • I played this my Senior Year in High School (last year) at Pasadena Memorial High School, it is the most emotional piece I think you will ever get the opportunity to play. Not only does it take a certain amount of emotion to play, but it also takes a great amount of Maturity. And I say, Kudos to you Mark Camphouse!!

  • I always get chills at 3:51. That transition makes me melt.

  • Great price playing in ensemble right now.

    Hard literature for a fish.

  • is your name Josh bailey

  • @FireDawg80 What are you talking about?

  • playing it tonight... its a very emotional piece, so i look forward to the adrenaline rush of rocking the first trumpet part.

  • I just played this song this last weekend with my college wind ensemble... its such a powerful song.

  • it isn't a song, it is a piece. Songs have words.

  • no, songs do not always have words. songs are pieces in which there is a sense of music. this whole piece is associated with music (in this case, instrumental music), so it is technically a song.

  • @chocobolvr832

If you're a music major, you should ask a theory professor about that.

I'm sure they'll be very glad and quick to correct you :)

  • @chocobolvr832

But to go ahead and make it short, you are definitely wrong on that. A "song" is sung, dude.

    ViciousTeddyBear09 is absolutely correct.

  • @nottravis28 Thank you very much for enlightening me on my impertinence in such a brilliant matter. Do you enjoy belittling people on the internet?

  • @chocobolvr832

There is a different between belittling and correcting. Just because you're wrong doesn't mean you need to get an attitude.

  • This is isn't either. It's a work of art.

  • Played this my sophomore year of highschool.... It ROCKS!!! dispite the nature of the song... My heart goes out to the victims of abuse...
