  • I would be able to appreciate this song so much more if Heavenly Creatures wasn't such a disturbing movie.

  • emurjim, if we can measure your intelect by your vocabulary i think we can dismiss it as the ramblings of an oaf. so go and boil your head !

  • Mario Lanza is shit. Think of how fucking crap he is compared to someone even mediocre, like Infantino.

  • @lemurjim I guess that's why he was chosen to be in a movie, albeit slightly fictionalized, about the greatest singer who ever lived.

  • Fantastico

  • W NAPOLI W

  • che bella la musica Napoletana *-*<3

  • canzone napoletana!!

  • It's funny how music expands - from what I've read about it, when it was written this song was the equivalent of a commercial jingle, or perhaps more accurately a company theme - just a song to commemorate and advertise a cable car system. Nowadays it's considered one of the most well known cultural songs of Italy.

  • my friend suggested someone sing this in American Idol, and thats the day I shall start smoking. WHICH WILL NEVER HAPPEN (sorry random post)

  • Everytime I hear this i am in a mood for itlalian

  • @idahopioneer it is not italian :P

  • @sentofelice Yes it is, buddy, Neopolitan is deriving from Naples, and Naples is part of Italy. Moron.

  • @Littl3Mon5terM4n The language is actually Neapolitan, not Italian. Italy used to be a loose confederacy of statelets with different languages until 150 years ago, when it was unified. However, people still learned their local language, and not Italian, as their mother tongue, and Italian was taught to them in schools. Now they DO learn Italian first, but especially in the southern regions children grow up as technically bilingual, as they are still exposed to Italian *AND* their local language.

  • @J0NDAWG1 That was a particularly low blow.

  • @grandfidencio hello my friend, can you telllm me what this great song is about? sounds so millitary

  • The song was written by journalist Peppino and Turkish music by Luigi Denza in the distant year of 1880. The event that inspired its birth was the inauguration of the first Bonde (Funicolare) of Vesuvius, and that his goal was to draw tourists and Neapolitans themselves to climb the volcano. Despite having very simple verses, written in a few hours, the music reached a thunderous success and did much to spread the Neapolitan music worldwide as well as draw many tourists from all over the planet.

  • @grandfidencio SCUSA MA QUESTO è NAPOLETANO NON ITALIANO..L'ITALIA è UN'ALTRA COSA E CREDO CHE LO SAI,PER LE COSE NEGATIVE NAPOLI E LA CAMPANIA VIA DALL'ITALIA,PER LE COSE POSITIVE NAPOLI FA PARTE DELL'ITALIA..SIETE COERENTI PERò BRAVI BRAVI POLENTONI DI MERDA BRAVI

  • the song was recorded by Violetta Villas with Polish language lyrics titled "Wracam"(I'm Back)

  • Thank you so much for uploading this. This reminds me of my childhood so much and road trips. :D

  • I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS VERSION! I LOVE THIS SO MUCH MORE THAN THE ENGLISH ONE! But otherwise, his voice is SUBLIME no matter what!

    Funiculi'= Funicolare
