Regardless of what everyone says, I was happy that Dom died in Gears, not because I didnt like him...hes actually probably my favorite character, but he wanted to die...imagine the very person you love the most turned into some decrepit skeleton hardly even human anymore, and not only that but they die on the spot when you finally find them. and you when you die you get to kill thousands of the things that killed the person you loved and you save all of your friends.
