  • I failed....the damn potato sticks on the glass plate...

  • @raychung2012 Repeat until perfecto! KtC

  • can yu make a vid for smores/

  • just tried it :)

head no spray oil, so i oiled the plate with disposable paper soaked in oil,

it came out ok, but not good enough for me to try again.

(final thoughts: split it in half put some butter & be done with it..)

  • this music makes me want to either dance or do gymnastics.

  • @SoyuzBot or make potato chips : )

  • Haha that's the best shortcut ever top notch buddy

  • @Cryptokronik If there is a quick way I will find it. cheers mate! KtC

  • I am in KooktoKook heaven... Can these chips be done in the oven on broil by any chance?

  • @Lottalox Folks do make them in the oven. Layer on baking sheet at about 450F for about 10 minutes. They can burn if not closely watched. See also my 'Pub Crisp' video for a deep-fry method (a more popular method). cheers! KtC

  • awesome recipes thanks i tryed it but without the sourcream but it was still good

  • @artist012345678 Happy you enjoyed it. A handy tip to know when ya need a chip. cheers! KtC

  • i have the same plates. xD

  • @betome27 Wal-Mart : )

  • bloody cool video thanks

  • @icsoka cheers from KtC!

  • This is really ingenuous! Never seen anything like it before and MUCH healthier option to normal potato chips. YUM GW!

  • @MissPonderosa Thank you. Enjoy the chips! KtC

  • ill take a potato chip......AND MICROWAVE IT

  • @Vampiric59 lol a bit of a short cut : )

  • wonderful reciepies!!!!

  • @shylaja5 Thank you. Some new vids. in 2012!

  • lol, didnt worked for me :P couldnt cut those thin slices :P

  • @saadaftab2005 It does take practice : ) Potatoes are cheap so the cost of the lesson is low. Perhaps next time! KtC

  • @saadaftab2005 get a mandolin (veggie slicer), and use the huard so you dont cut yourself. they are good for lots of things!

  • Microwave? RIP nutrients

  • @4676CamW Potato Chips? Nutrients? lol I don't think they go together. That is where beer comes in.

  • @kooktocook Do you have a video on how to make that at home as well? :)

  • @santajimi I do : ) Will make note. Big CHEERS! KtC

  • @santajimi Cut two large potatoes, initially in the middle and then into very thin slices. Sprinkle them with olive oil and a pinch of salt. Place the chips in a pan and bake for 20 minutes in a preheated oven at 230 ° Celsius Then turn them and cook on the other side :)

Good idea to cut very thin slices is to use the Peel potatoes tool. ;)

  • @santajimi spraying with oil is best if you done it with a sprayer to not irrigate the potato with oil.

Also is better if you put it in the middle of your oven

  • @4676CamW lmao, you think potato chips have nutrients, thats funny

  • @4676CamW huh? nitrients in potato chips? esp considering taht they are usually deep fried!

  • 5 minutes on high burns them.i tried out 4 minutes on high and they were perfect!

  • @katherineluisa Will vary a bit depending on your MV. My new one is only about 4 min. too. Thanks for sharing! KtC

  • instead of spray can you rub olive oil all over it?

  • @thenap9000 No. The spray works best.

  • need to try this :D

  • Omg he just made chips in a microwave. :|

  • @doublethedose5 It's Magic :D

    Cheers from KtC!

  • That is cool!!! Has anyone tasted these though? Are they tasty?

  • @ironisk Yep!

  • It works!

  • @urockmysox lol I wouldn't post if it didn't : )

    Cheers from KtC!

  • I Make them in the fryer and i tried them in the microwave sorry they are horrible in the micorwave for me. I like them fried

  • @CitrineVlogging I find they are quite tasty from the MV if prepared correctly. Nonetheless, comparing them to deep fried is a no win. See my 'Pub Crisps' for the deep fried variety. Very YUM!

  • @kooktocook I Recently checked it out :) I Like those alot better!

  • @CitrineVlogging Yeah, they are the best. Real pub snack food. cheers! KtC

  • I can't find this oil spray... Can I use anything else instead ???

  • @alexander2310703806 It should be available in Greece markets either under the name 'Pam' or Cristo'. Some folks have tried a spray bottle adding typical oil to it. Not sure how well it worked. The idea with the spray is that it only applies a fine mist of oil, ideal for this method. cheers, KtC

  • @kooktocook Ok I will search more... But i tried butter and it went preety well..

What you said is my trouble, to get the right dose!

  • Nuka Crisps

  • @AfroSamuraiTheMaster lol Yep!

  • I've had these before and they do come out very good. If you think about it, though you have to run your microwave for 5 mins for about 15 chips. By the time you add up the ingredients and electricity to make a bag of chips, it is probably cheaper to buy them.

  • @fall22123 Probably but not as much fun.

  • I tried this and OMG I got amazing crisps! never thought I could ever make crisps in my microwave! Thanks for this revelation! lol xXx

  • @hoozafloozie If we just learned one new thing a day :D

Happy you enjoyed them! cheers from KtC!

  • So they. Are actually crispy

  • @Fredisyodaddyo Yep!

  • very nice

  • @chaandbatool12 Thank you! Enjoy the chips. KtC

  • I did this ................ and there was lighting in my microwave

  • @wiwa116 Cool!

  • @wiwa116 There was "lighting" in your microwave? Of course there is lighting. The light indicates the microwave is on. All microwave machines do the same.

Unless of course you mean "lightning" (note the extra letter "N"), then it's your microwave COMING ALIVE and BECOMING SENTIENT. In which case-- RUN!

  • hmmm what seasoning did you use and what kind of dips would you perfer id like to know plz :)

  • @Dilan7813 The dip shown is just sour cream with chives (simple but tasty). Any chip dip would work well.

I think I just used sea salt for these ones however, I may have used sea salt and pepper. Any dry seasoning you like would be interesting. Chili powder, garlic / onion powder, dill weed (I have tried them all). Just a sprinkle with some sea salt. There is snack food seasoning sold in some markets. Usually made for popcorn. They work well too. cheers! KtC

  • does it have to be spray?will it sure fail with a little oil??

  • @Dreadydreams It has to be the spray. Although some folks claim success (see below) not using it. I had very little positive results not using it. Everything worked great then. Tasty! KtC

  • Too much WORK.

  • @PirateKing1256 That is why they sell them in stores :D

  • Looks good but i dont feel loke cleaning the microwave hawwwwwww

  • go on, eat one!! i want to see what noise they make and comments and stuff...

  • @MortallicA91 crunch crunch mmmm yum mmmm tasty!

  • @kooktocook im satisfied :)

  • @MortallicA91

ok to be honest they're just like lays potatoe chips just a little thicker, and not as crispy but they come really near close to lays (fried) potatoe chips. theyre good. When i fry them they come out a bit soggy and i pour chili powder on them and it makes them taste good but since theyre a little more dry the powder doesnt stay on as good or taste so good with it.. i lightly season them (regular stuff salt pepper) or not at all (no seasoning) and they come out great either way

  • ok i did the stupidest thing i used sweet potatoes and they werent cooked all the way after 5 mins so i did another 5 mins i probally shoulda done 3 or 2 lol but anyway they were burnt and im not blaming aanyone just thought someone would get a kick outta this lol

  • @ariannarouse Most MV cook these up within a few minutes. Sweet potatoes should work too. Thanks for sharing :)

  • i love my potatoe chips with chili powder w/ black pepper i use to fry them.this looks like a great idea cuz the greasy makes a mess and its so unhealthy that i really dont wana fuck with it and make them rarely... i know it may sound nasty to a few but the chili powder with black pepper sort of makes them taste like checkers french fries but with more flavor(its not spicy either if ur sensitive to spicy food and wondering).I have a big metal box looking cutter thing that cuts potatoes its best

  • @True2TheBlueYoViGang I am not familar with Checkers however, I have used chili powder on the chips. The MV version is handy but deep-fried 'crisps are best. See my 'Pub Crisp' vid. Also my Chili Powder vid.

Thanks for sharing the tips. cheers, KtC

  • @True2TheBlueYoViGang a mandolin slicer?

  • @jimmybilbo

lol im guessing thats what it is... its a box its metal with a plastic top holder its used for grating cheeses and stuff like that... one side has a big slit that i slice the potatoes on... btw i did this and WAO it came out GOOD! Tastes better than when i fry them... so healthy to. Once i see them start to brown i take them out (times always differ on size usually no longer than 5min). I put PAM spray on the microwave plate and chips. it didnt come out so good with the chili powder

  • i want more

  • oh i dont have the spray

  • OMG this is so tasty!! I just done that my self, its perfect! :)

  • @toisver Everytime I read a comment here I am off to the microwave for potato chips lol

I am happy you enjoyed them! cheers, KtC

  • ▼ ◄ ▲ ► ▼ ◄ ▲ ► ▼ ◄ ▲ ► ▼ ◄ ▲ ► ▼ ◄ ▲ ▼ ◄ ▲ ► ▼ ◄ ▲ ► ▼ ◄▼ ◄ ▲ ► ▼ ◄ ▲ ► ▼ Sorry, I drop my bag of Doritos

  • @thepresidentify :D Nice one!

  • @thepresidentify copy and paste that did you

  • Your microwave will be covered in oil and grease. You could do the same thing with a pizza oven cranked up.

  • @norxcontacts A minimal amount of cooking oil spray is used. There is practically no mess at all. None actually. KtC

  • This got me to clean my microwave...

  • @MrHobbyenthusiast It was the real tip on this vid. :D KtC

  • Can i ask what is the music ?

  • ^^*YuMmY*^^

  • nice! thanks!

  • i have a stationary large microwave, used 2 microwave safe dishes, i cut some up really thin like you have in the video and after 15 minutes they were either soggy or like cardboard and sticky. Left them to cool off, same thing. :(

  • @samhainaz You should turn it off at about 5 minutes. It should not take that much time at all. Mine is about 5 somtimes less. The non-stationary took about the same time but it was smaller so I had less chips. Try not rotating the tray then. Folks have had success as commented below. Perhaps others have had similar experience. cheers, KtC

  • @kooktocook thanks i will try that. Do they crisp when they cool off or something? thanks

  • @samhainaz They should be crisp after the MV but they crispen up a bit more afterwards. KtC

  • mine doesnt have a plate that rotates its stationary. Do i need to rotate the square plate every 2 minutes or something?

Btw they wont come out soggy?

  • @samhainaz I have used the stationary MV and I did rotate half way. They shouldn't be soggy at all but crispy (just like a potato chip). Let me know if you decide to try. It may take a batch or two to work things out (due to variable MV power). cheers, KtC

  • Omg I have that plate! Lmfao

  • @Shibahiba1 WalMart? lol

  • Ok all kidding aside, you're a genius for figuring this one out! I love this method 100X better than deep frying. They do stick a bit who cares, they're out of this world, bye regular chips!. Thanks for the great video

  • @jackedkitchen Hi, thank you! We enjoy them frequently too. I have a few that stick but they even crispen up after cooling. cheers, KtC

  • hi ...inspite of the oil spray they seem to stick...does this happen to you?

  • @dhodi123 They shouldn't with the oil. Perhaps the slices are too thick. They do have to be almost paper thin. The first batch I made did not turn out well however, with the trial and error learned, I have had success each time now. cheers, KtC

  • this is something I would definetely try

  • Will Castrol motor oil woik?

  • @gerry3x Sure. Give it a try and get back to me. cheers, KtC

  • @kooktocook My microwave doesn't have a turntable, just a glass tray, will that still work?

  • @gerry3x Yes, I have made them without the turntable style. I did move the postion around though once half-way for an even 'zap'. The method actually produces a half decent chip in a pinch. Variable models of MV though so a bit less/ or more time might be required. They have to be thin slices too or you end up with nuked potato slices. Good luck! KtC

  • @kooktocook I have a mandolin.

  • Not bad.

  • Hey! nice video- well put together. Thank you!

My chips were not so crisp, but I should do them thinner and cook them longer I guess. (Knew that, but ate them anyway!)

Still, they were good- fresh natural potato with seasonings, cooked quickly, seasoned how I like and always available for snacking! (We always have a bag of potatoes- they're $2.00, versus usually $4 for a bag of chips. The potatoes go a much longer on the budget!

  • I'll take a potato chip...

    AND EAT IT!

  • I also heard a rumor they r sold in bags in the store

  • I'm sure Light Yagami would LOVE these.

  • @MysteriousBrownEyes1 He'll take a sack of potato... AND EAT IT

  • @uEpicPhaiL With dramatic sparkles!

  • wow its like some action movie

  • i seriously think its better frying them because it only takes 30-40 seconds hhaha

  • @Dennyboy190 see my 'Pub Crisp' vid. They are better fried. cheers, KtC

  • I wouldn't eat it but if it tastes good to other people I'm fine with it. :)

  • will my microwave explode?

    i want to try it

  • they're pretty good, but mine didn't come out so crispy

  • @KissOfDeath775 Too thick perhaps? I had a few like that as I was testing for the vid. All the batches worked fine except my first one as the chips were not too crispy either. I went thinner and added a bit more time to the MV. From what I read here in the comments, my own attempts and friends giving it a go, it does work quite well. Perhaps better luck next time around. cheers, KtC

  • how many calories are in these chips and how many chips can you make in 1 potato?

  • @multiplymelollipop1 No idea but not man cals. as there is little oil used (not much potato either). As for how many, depends on the potato. Probably about ten. cheers! KtC

  • radiated potato chips..

  • @sasamuraki don't eat it! we'll turn into potato couch man/woman! nah, it's tasty..... now, if only i'd leave this couch to make another batch. :p

  • here is a better way :

    1-start ur car engine

    2- go to the store

    3-buy one packet chips

  • @Elbanditcasanova

    i dont hve car. sighhh

  • what is this music?

  • I recommend using a plate though...

  • @123lucygurl I found using a plate on top the glass didn't work consistently. Nonetheless if it worked for you it certainly is a better option. Happy you enjoyed them. A quick snack in a pinch. cheers! KtC

  • these are d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s! I'm in loooovvvveeee :)

  • what is better chips fry on hot oil or from microwave??

  • @klara651983 Thin sliced and cooked in hot oil. See my 'Pub Crisp' video for that method. The MV chips here are pretty good though and it does work well for a quick snack. cheers, KtC

  • I rather eat tree bark

  • @MrSouthphillyitalian Some tree bark is quite tasty actually. mmmm

  • @kooktocook Even cinnamon is inner bark from certain trees from the Cinnamomum family. Who doesn't like Cinnamon? :)

  • @atheismsaves lol Good example. I was thinking the inner bark of pine and others that are edible. The chips I would prefer though. cheers, KtC

  • You need to have a multi level tray to put in your microwave so you can do more than 15 chips at a time

  • @domokid That would help on the production output :)

  • Love it.

  • But, Will it blend?

  • so cool I going to try it today

  • I'll take a potato chip... AND HEAT IT!

  • oh man now I gotta try this! I always wanted fresh potato chips but don't want to use an oven for it :D

  • @cappiman2pointoh I find they do not work as well in the oven. However, I am sure some folks have had success. I deep-fry for the best results (see my 'Pub Crisp' vid). This MV version is super. Works really well and provides a crisp chip similar to the deep-frying (more healthier too). A quick snack in minutes.

    Thanks for commenting. cheers! KtC

  • this is realllllllly smart

  • @292Shay and tasty! cheers, KtC

  • could i just do this in the oven instead? i only use the microwave to reheat food not to cook food

  • @sirenlyfox This method is for the MV. Makes a really nice chip.

Oven chips are not very good in my opinion. They are best thicker when in the oven and thus are not really chips. See (and perhaps try) my 'Pub Crisps' video. The method used for the crisps is the best for homemade chips.

    cheers, KtC

  • Do you have to use cooking spray, cuz I can't find it anywhere!

  • @shadowjaagup Place vegetable oil in a fine mist sprayer. Use it. Apparently that works well. The oil has to be a fine mist. Hence the spray. cheers! KtC

  • @kooktocook Thanks. I'll try that.

  • ca i use oil instead of spray

  • @MiKocwalk Try vegetable oil in a fine mist sprayer (like a plant watering bottle). KtC

  • Does any one know how to make sour cream and onion flavored Chips??

  • @tjaldid See my video 'Pub Crisps'. Any seasoning can be used for those. Some stores sell the sour cream/ onion popcorn seasoning. I have some here actually. Use it on the Pub Crisp. Not sure how well it would work on the MV chips here. I haven't tried.

    Hope this helps. KtC

  • @kooktokook I tried it but the chips didnt get hard or crunchy , instead they were really soft and tasted like dirt. Please help me im in risk of commiting suicide O.O

    Im not kidding

  • @Revenger593 See comments below. There are only three variables. Chip thickness, spray oil and length of nuke time. The method explained in the vid. works for me and most folks. cheers! KtC

  • @kooktocook Thanx.

  • are they going to be crunchy? I love my chips crunchy!

  • @90sStyle Yes. Cunchy/ crispy. KtC

  • @90sStyle O.O

  • @90sStyle lol i tired it! they are actually crunchier than the ones one buys from walmart!

  • i made it and it was delicious.my sister and i was eating it now.it is very crispy but we use cooking oil in doing this.

  • @kyratherese006 Hi! I have tried just wiping the plate with the oil but I did not have any success. I tried it in a pump bottle and still they were not that great. The only way it seemed to work for me was using a fine spray vegetable oil. Works each time for me. A few folks have stated using just regular oil worked for them. Did you do anything special? It would benefit a bunch if it worked consistently that way. I am happy you enjoyed them and thank you for the comment. KtC
