Strange not seeing Loews hotel thought it was built years before 1971 but that does explain why the tunnel is much shorter. Also le' rasscasse, which i think now is called the grand prix restaurant, there just seems to be a hairpin again i thought the rest. was much older.
Yes, 1971. That was the year of that particular Tyrrell. Can't remember which exact model it was but in 1970 Tyrrell was actually using a March chassis. This is the first actual Tyrrell chassis. The track looks a lot older because relatively little work had been done on it until 1973 (I think) when they added the swimming pool section.
@littlecannon It's not just his driving and racing achievements, he is one of, if not the best ambassadors for the sport. Safety standards would not have developed as fast without him. A great commentator also, the definition of a living legend
How funny Monaco looked at that time... Plenty of space for new buildings :-) And that ridiculous tunnel... Today, there is not a single sqaure meter of natual surface there.
Even in the Loews curve there is just nothing, no hotel etc.
did anyone else want to throw the fucking front passenger out of the car? or throw the camera man out and pass the camera to the front passenger? i like how jackie pointed out the man hole cover as a breaking point. very cool
Definition of a badass... and in the wet! Sir Jackie you dog haha

No paddle shifters, no traction control, granted 300 less HP but more exciting races consistantly.

Woah. You realise just much HAS changed, at Monaco. a lot less buildings, especially from Mirabeau to Rasscasse.

Monaco looks so different to this now. Jackie is a great driver!

You can tell the car's got no downforce at all.

My, my, did the great sir Jackie select the wrong gear at 0.32?
thrillathakilla 3 years ago
No, just shifted down, imo.
Kimster1987 3 years ago
Yeah, and braked considerably, I think.
What a style. You can tell this man is not going to overcook it on any bit of track that isn't absolutely crucial for a good lap time. Ever.

I love that. It shows, also, just how precise you have to be if you're a racing driver. I love it
