'Aishah (ra) reported: "Umm Habibah and Umm Salamah mentioned to Allah's Messenger, peace be upon him, a church in which they saw drawings while in Abyssinia, whereupon he said: 'Those people used to build a place of worship over the grave of a righteous man among them when he died and make such drawings in it.These will be the worst of people in the sight of Allah on the Day of Resurrection.'' (Bukhari and Muslim)

Khawaja gharib nawaz was truly a very pious servent of Allah, those who turned his grave in to ziarat may have done it with good intentions,but majority of people coming to visit his grave are Jahl, they are the ones comiting shirk, instead of asking Allah for guidence, protection & help they ask the saint. for this very reason i am against darbars,one may think he/she may be doing a good deed but infact there disapointing Allah.

@trucomments The hadith you are referring to is matrook! Nabi(saw) himself visited Jannat ul Baqi daily, and Shuhdaa of Badr(ra) every year. The second hadith which declares it matrooq states that it was previously forbidden because new converts from Idolatry would lead Islam into Shirk. Shirk is of two kinds i) Shirk biz Zaat ii) Shirk bis'Sifaat. Other than that there is no Shirk. Calling everything Shirk ideology was introduced in the 18th century.

I cannot understand how it can be a sin to show respect to a Saint. The Saint led many souls to the right path. It is Indian culture that great men have been respected. The religion can not be understood through mere text alone. You need the guidence of an advanced soul to realise divinity.

I don't agree with what has started happening at these respectful Dargahs. Not all those practices are right. Having said that, I will also say that its not right to disrespect the Aulias and devalue their contributions to the spread of Deen. They were the waseela through which Islam was spread in the region, many people came to the fold because of the examples they have set in front of the world.

you really didn't get my point....this re-read my post...I said you bow in OUT OF RESPECT, out of respect and worshipping one almighty are different things. What is harm in showing respecting to the dead who were holy saints? You wouldn't respect prophet Muhammad pbuh? I think you will end up in hellfire.
