Don't break the seal. If you want to hear it, find the mp3s on a blog somewhere or order the CD. That way you'll get to enjoy the music but will still have the satisfaction of your virgin vinyl.
@myrecordcollection That is exactly what I will do. I came close to opening it several times but now that it's on cd I'll get it. I like their sound. The record has several reduced price stickers on it, It was finally cleared out at 57 cents .....obviously 1960's prices!
Sounds like a plan. Don't get me wrong, I think records are to be enjoyed, not fetishized. I have definitely opened a few sealed LPs because I bought them for the music primarily and to "have a collectable" secondarily. But usually I do this with records that aren't particularly rare. With rare stuff, I usually buy it primarily to have a collectable. Like my sealed copy of the Beach Boys Stack O' Tracks. I def won't open that one!
Hey rock fans, I am Vann Slatter, the drummer and high harmony dude for the Family Tree. It is so fun to read these comments 40's years hence. Yep, our vocals were impeccable, if I must say so. And its true, Segarini never caught a break. He ranks as one of the great American pop writers of the period, with the likes of Brian Wilson and John Sabastian. Hugs and kisses, Vann.
I bought the vinyl of this in about 1968 give or take a year. I'm a musician myself and we opened a show for these guys at the Neighbors of Woodcraft Hall in Portland Oregon, Summer of 68. At a time when PA systems were just starting to HAVE to improve to keep up with the need for better quality sound and volume (as opposed to stadium horns), their vocals were impeccable. Needless to say after over 40 years, my vinyl album is worn out. So I was very pleased to find the reissued CD on Amazon .com
bob segarini never really caught a break. he made some great albums as part of Roxy and the Wackers and bands after that too like the dudes. where is randy bishop? anyone know?
Bought this CD some weeks ago and have completely fallen in love with it. I thought that at best it would be a good, pop/light psych 60's album. Instead it is one of the absolute best 60's album (top #10) I have heard for a long, long, long time. Not since I bought the Zombies "Oddesey & Oracle" have I heard such mastercraft of melodies, arrangments, and great lyrics. Underrated album for sure. I will really let my friends know about this fantastic (slightly forgotten?) album!
I would love to see some archival films of The Family Tree. I just got the album and it's great. A must listen from start to end. "Sideshow" is clearly the album's masterpiece.
What a lovely surprise! Mr. Bob Segarini is my husband, and it just so happens that your favourite songs on the album are his favourites as well! The album was recently released on CD, along with a set of wonderful liner notes. (In the photo in the glasses, he's in the bottom left corner!) Keep in touch!
Thanks for the note. I'm glad to hear that you and Bob share my taste! I didn't know about the recent CD, so I'll have to pick it up one of these days.
@radiopie I took this album out of our public library in the early 70s and always wanted to hear it again. When I saw the CD in a catalog a couple of years ago, I jumped on it! What a delight to hear all these great songs again.
Somebody disliked this, really??

I knew Bob Segarini when he played in a local Stockton group called the Standells. Must have been around 1962 or 63.

Hi - another fan here.
I can't tell you how nice it is to have Miss Butters finally available on CD. I can't take it out of the cd player.
Four "best songs" aren't nearly enough. "Sideshow" in particular is another stunner.
All the best to you and your husband, and thank you to the person who posted this video. It will help me spread the word.
