@mypertrainbow: she has musical accompaniment so, a cappela generally refers to singing without musical accompaniment. Although, I believe (Italian speakers feel free to correct me) that a cappela literally means 'of the chapel' so literally she would be....beautiful voice no matter
Beautiful beyond words. I can't wait for her CD's so I can crank this! I love Barbara Padilla and would love to hear more from her. Just stunning. So beautiful.
Just as I suspected. She's on her way to becoming a great soprano. She was by far the most talented singer on America's Got Talent and any other talent contest, as far as I'm concerned.
@mypetrainbow She's singing a capella, without the microphone. Can't you tell, by the way her voice resonates throughout this church? This church has good acoustics, so that she doesn't need a microphone.
I saw and heard her LIVE in San Angelo, TX a few months ago. She was INCREDIBLE, she totally blew me away.
Barbara lost because the voters felt sorry for the chicken catcher. And while, in MY opinion, Barbara's story of courage in battling cancer far outweighs his, and absolutely her talent does as well, many voters seemed to have forgotten the name of the competition.
Of course AGT is rigged!! I think it has something to do with Barbara's ethnicity, I guess there's still a lot of racism against Hispanics here in America.
But it doesn't matter anymore. Barbara is in the process of releasing her debut album. She will be a world-renowned opera star, that will be her revenge.
@zucchini2007 Barbara loosing America's Got Talent has nothing to do with her ethnicity. It has to do with the fact that she sings opera, a style of music that isn't popular. I don't think the show is rigged and if it were I wouldn't think it was becauseof her race. I think that she lost because despite the fact that she is a great opera singer. She is still an opera singer. And, opera isn't a popular genre of music.
@byellin89 I hope you're right! I'm Mexican American and so is the rest of my family. You should have seen the look on people's faces when they heard us speaking Spanish in Taos, NM. But people sure don't make ugly faces when other ethnic groups speak Chinese, Thai, Italian, etc...I wonder why that is. Because Americans hate Hispanics?
And it sickens me that this sort of racism exists in our so-called modern, educated society. Instead of progressing, we are moving backwards.
@byellin89 Actually, she is in between a popera and opera singer because she sings show tunes and songs like Time to Say Goodbye (which are not arias), but definitely has the voice, quality, and training of an opera singer. I love her voice and varied repertoire, but many opera people look down on singers with operatic voices that sing songs other than arias (opera songs). To the general public she is an opera singer, though. Greetings!!!!!
@zucchini2007 Puhleeze! She lost because she sings opera! The audience for AGT doesn't have a clue what opera is. For racism, zucchini2007 only needs to look in the mirror.
@zucchini2007 "I think it has something to do with Barbara's ethnicity, I guess there's still a lot of racism against Hispanics here in America." Sorry, I don't agree. From your following post, it sounds as if you are the kind of person that revels in being a victim. Americans don't hate Hispanics (I live in California so I know), so get over it.
@glassywaves1 OK, Einstein. My brother-in-law was crashed by an asshole who called him a "dirty Mexican". If I was there, that guy would have a black eye. Arizona and Alabama both implemented racist immigration laws. People gave us weird looks in parts of NM when they heard us speaking Spanish among ourselves. So I'd advise you to get out of your lavish little CA bubble and try to see life from the perspectives of others.
truly amazing her voice is so awesome and command of whatever she sings. I cannot wait til she puts out a CD or even a concert in Bass Hall in Ft Worth.
A lovely performance. My favourite version of this song is by Irish soprano, Ruth Kelly Brady, check her out on iTunes, you won't be disappointed!

She's all hunched up, bad posture!
Still great singing, but I think all glass based items broke.

@glassywaves1 How dare you call me a racist? That's the dumbest thing I've ever read! What a cheap shot that was.
