Back in the day, before the existence of computers, a little child who learned the 'whole' alphabet, and the multiplication table, and to count to 100, and to read, and to write cursive was a complete genius! A future Einstein. This kid is smart, but not genius. If you put your child in good use, instead of playing useless video games, then he too will be considered a genius just like little politician here.
holy shit guys chill the fuck out. How much reasoning did you do at 3 aside from "I'm hungry so I should cry as last time I cried, I was fed."
And you act as though the 150 capitals that he had learned was all he knows. You think the guy that taught a dog 1000 words didn't include "Rover?"
How can you expect a child to know ethics when the whole concept of ethics is formed based not only on reasoning, but also experience? The kid is 3, he's had infinitely fewer experiences fewer than you.
well i should hope that physicist at least remembers or dare i say it memorized the theories of physics, otherwise he is not a genius, sorry. If he needs to keep looking up the theories because he can't remember them, well that's not impressive.
what's wrong with rote memorization? It's essential to learn before learning how to think critically. If you ask me most kids could stand to be taught more recitation, and btw critical thinking skills is also severly lacking. Neither of these are taught well in american schools. I always here teachers say "oh well at least we teach them to think critically". Puleez
GOOD PARENTS!! It's called teaching you child. And when you compare a child who is well taught and had parents who taught him, spent time, with a child who clearly wasn't read to or taught. That's when you think MY kid is a genius!! But no, just when you compare him to that kid over there who doesn't say anything and is picking his butt!!! But good job to these kids parents because they are doing their job:) My two year old doesn't know that, but she does does know all the Vitamins and their job
@brandon9491 Don't get me wrong either. Showing this interest in knowing and learning means he has an exploring kind of personality probably.

three year olds cant remeber this many capitals ....calling it a cheap trick is rude and ignorant .....i assure you no child you'll ever produce could do this.....
@Viki758 yeah, except most people tend to lose their "genius" when they obtain other responsibilities than sitting on their ass and memorizing unimportant facts.
Genius has little to do with what you know, but a lot to do with what you can figure out and do with that information. This is a parlor trick. That kid is a human monkey organ grinder.
Why can't children just be kids and let their own imagination take control rather than unnecessary forced knowledge such as capitol's of countries and other such information that really won't benefit them much. Teach them math or something, or let them be themselves like the little cute munchkin in my vids list.

wtf when i was 3 i knew every car brand there was, it was cuz my father drilled it into my head since birth, this kid is just as dumb as any 3 year old.
Memorization doesn't make you a genius, even as a kid.
Einstein is said to have had a quite mediocre memory. Let's see a kid have some great intuition or do something extraordinarily creative for his age, then I'll be impressed.
Actually, memorization is one of the factors in being intelligent. Along with imagination. And a few other factors. Ever heard of eidetic memory? - maybe the father did not MAKE his son memorize all that.
I do believe that he is ALREADY 'smart'(quoting from your previous comment) actually, and I think he is on his way to becoming a genius. And he's not 'WAISTING(?) his brain on stupid memorization'. It's called Geography and normal people are learning it in school.

its only 300 capitals thats not that much if he leared 1 a day thats not even a year and thats assuming he actually knows the capitals of every state and country
@schlumbucket no, but it is a part of it. having a good short and long term memory is important. someone who is to be considered smart, or a genius, has to have a good memory.
@schlumbucket actually having the ability to memorize information is part of the equation of over all intelligence. Most (if not all) IQ tests incorporate questions or activities in which the testee is required to utilize memory. Psychology 101.
IQ tests are also bullshit. The highest intelligence is pure perception, the state of simply seeing with a clear mind. Memory is unimportant since everything exists in the NOW, all that is knowable can be seen in every moment.
I nannied for a girl from age 3 - 5 and at age three she had every state and capital memorized. What blew me away is that she also knew every country in Europe and Africa. How? Puzzles haha. Get a kid wood puzzles of a continent where the countries are the pieces and do one every night with them and before you know it they memorize it :)
@slovakmath I bet you dont know as many capitals as him. So does that meen your dumber then a parrot? So because his parents taught him the capitals thats still dont make him smart? Man your just a troll and jelious!
@hashmash0 Ye, parents scolding kids for doing things out of curiosity kills a lot of creativity. "don't draw on the walls!", "don't take apart your toys!", "don't create a fortress with mattresses, you're making a mess!"
If anyone here took a decent social science class, they would know that a young child such as this kid is still forming synapse connections in his brain, therefore he's eventually going to forget it or forget a majority of it if he doesn't continue refreshing his memory. It's called synapse pruning
@poQkie If he's father can keep doing it, no worries. It will be stored in the LTM and just needed to be occasionally practiced for better perfection of his memory and you don't know if he has a pictographic memory.
Memorization != intelligence. As an educator, I continue to see this sort of misconception at work and it can really hinder learning. Even if the ability to memorize well did make you a "genius", no one will care unless you can do something with that information.
Ask the kid "How would the world be different without Country 'X'?" If he can come up with even a partly decent response, I will be WAY more impressed than if he had memorized the entire Encyclopædia Britannica.
I have three grandchildren. The first two are intelligent, very athletic. Nice kids! The youngest is amazing. At 3 1/2 he could read in French and English. When he came to a word he didn't know, he's piece out its pronunciation. He could also write fluently in English. It is amazing to watch him concentrate on something; he's totally absorbed but he's clearlly thinking and evaluating. He is fascinated by aeroplanes and anything technical. It's all genes!
My brother started reading at 2. He was able to memorize things at a young age- planets, states, etc but couldn't talk to you- couldn't have a 'conversation' like a typical toddler would. Turns out he has a form of autism called hyperlexia that causes him to learn differently- I wouldn't be shocked if the kid in this video doesn't have a similar syndrome.
@Imogen1885 He may not know the culture or geography of the country, but if he sees the name of the country/state on a map, he will know the capital. ;)
@Imogen1885 yea but he's knows most of em by looking at the names of the countries, can you name all those capitals off the top of ya head I THINK NOT !!
@Imogen1885 Because average mortals like us can't do it. Even more so at 3 year old. Humans get astounded by others who can do things we can't. Is it that hard to understand?
@bubblemonster3 That would be impossible since a basic knowledge of the language, grammar and spelling is needed to enter college. Unless you are in automotive repair.
It's called memorizing, it's not like he invented something new. Some Muslim kids I met memorize their Holy Quran but I doubt any of you would be impressed.
that would make him closed minded, i say expose him to everything!..religion, science, philosophy, you name it. let him both be able to examine and experience, for the two are not one in the same...especially in regards to religion.
@WillowWillowXOX exactly, I spoke German to with my mother all my life and I believe the addition of those lanuage skills helped me later in life. For instance, I had no trouble mastering French in HS and Latin in College. It's important that a very young child is given tons of information, because they CAN in fact process it. Much better than when they are older, to be sure.
More like a 3 year old mental punching bag. His parents must barrade him day in and day out with information upon information.... Let the kid have a fucking childhood why don't you?
Random thing I have to say : u know how people say kids r never too young to learn sumthin? What about negative #s!? They hid that from me until I was like 10. For a while they said 4-6 was impossible but then they tell me! And also wouldn't it be better for such a little guy to be playin around doing little kid things while he has the chance instead of learning random info?
he is not genius. at least you cannot call him genius just because of his georaphical knowledge. This stiuation depends of interest. If you had that much interest about ''world capitals'' topic, you would be like him. Only that ''interest'' makes him special.
@BrianAT2000 but isnt all learning memorization just think about ityou cant be smart with out remmbering anything pretty much only like 305is the part where you need to have a sharp mind but this kis has a sharp mind for a 3 year old
@vulyone1 What intelligence doesn't require SOME amount of memory? He's only 3, he hasn't even had time to write a book or achieve something that you would consider only possible through some kind of ingenuity. He will be a genius, there's no doubt.
Parents and teachers can make a big difference by encouraging children to intellectually walk the extra mile. It is not surprising at all that a child can absorve knowledge regardles of their age. Take this quote in consideration:
NOTHING SHOULD BE CONCEALED FROM CHILDREN ON THE PRETEXT THAT THEY ARE LITTLE AND THAT IS TOO EARLY FOR THEM TO UNDERSTAND. Dostoevsky
They can certainly absorbe both knoweledge of good and evil. No different than training a dolphin to amuse or to kill.
This is the result of parents taking their time to teach their own children and not allowing schools to teach them. I would never allow the schools to teach my child. They teach too many lies. I'd prefer for my child to know truth and only truth. When I learned that Adolf Hitler was a Great Man, after being taught in school that he was some evil monster, I flipped my lid and no longer trust the government. How can you trust someone that LIES to you? Check out Hitler...the LIES will blow your mind.
I used to think memorising things did not make you intelligent. But then I relised, some unintelligent kids go to school with more intelligent kids. They are both given the same education, and amount of attention and yet at the end of the year one surpasses the other in results. There can only be a limited number of solutions to this, 1) A difference in concentration. 2) A difference in the ability to memorise the information. If memory is not the only factor it is still factor for intelligence
@facejobby I'm not sure if I'd lump it with intelligence, but it's definitely a useful characteristic. I have a measured IQ in the 98th percentile or so, but I can't remember anything if I can't tie something logical to it. As a result, my classmates who can just show up and soak in information are much more successful in classes like history and biology.
The only noteworthy things to say about this is that intelligence can aid in memorization, and that intelligence doesn't ensure academic success, nor are good grades a proof of intelligence.

how about all the kids naming off all the football teams? its because the parents are obsessed with making them memorize certain things. probably practice with flash cards every day
This kid is special! But if it was my child, i'd be worried. Often, these special kids stand out so much, that they run into social problems: they don't fit in, it's hard for them to make friends and connect with kids their age. It's a negative approach, i know, but these kids need to connect as much as any other kid.
lol at all the people who are like, THIS KID ISNT A GENIUS BLAH BLAH BLAH. Maybe no on the grand scale of things, but hes 2. TWO. And his memory capacity is incredible. think about how long it would take YOU to remember all those capitals. would it take a year? 2 years? More? In this kids case, hes learned memorized the capitals of all 50 states plus more than 100 countries. thats more than 150 capitals
can you name 100 countries? can you even name all 50 states? No. so shut the hell up. lol
ask the questions (philosophy) answer (science) and know that theorys are not a success just a idea that is yet to b proven ,all the human brain thinks of is boredom and our minds can be bored because of how complex we are.
I gotta disagree with you guys. Memory has a lot to do with what people familiarize as a "genius". Kids with a great memory tend to be very book smart. You don't get into Harvard with a shitty memory. It's really up to him how he wants to apply his skill and how far he'll take it.
at least he is better than our geography teacher

50 US capitals+ 100 world capitals. That's 150.
150? genius? really?
A dog can recognize and remember around 200 words, one person trained his dog to respond to 1000 words and some sentences.
Even if 150 was that impressive, having good memory doesn't imply high intelligence or reasoning abilities.
MrGoDuck 3 months ago
@MrGoDuck hes 2... and memorization is exactly what intelligence is... you have to memorize to know...
brandon9491 2 months ago
@brandon9491 memory does not imply intelligence.
Being a genius is the ability to stitch together events or experiences in order to come to a greater understanding of systems.
Or having extraordinary reasoning abilities in one field.
A genius is a physicist that can see new theories emerge from different ones because he sees how they work together.
A genius is a person that can create beautiful melodies.
If you can remember lots of stuff that's good but it doesn't make you a genius.

kalo484 8 months ago
@schlumbucket actually having the ability to memorize information is part of the equation of over all intelligence. Most (if not all) IQ tests incorporate questions or activities in which the testee is required to utilize memory. Psychology 101.
Michelle2404 7 months ago
@Michelle2404
IQ tests are also bullshit. The highest intelligence is pure perception, the state of simply seeing with a clear mind. Memory is unimportant since everything exists in the NOW, all that is knowable can be seen in every moment.
schlumbucket 7 months ago
I nannied for a girl from age 3 - 5 and at age three she had every state and capital memorized. What blew me away is that she also knew every country in Europe and Africa. How? Puzzles haha. Get a kid wood puzzles of a continent where the countries are the pieces and do one every night with them and before you know it they memorize it :)

It's called synapse pruning
poQkie 9 months ago
@poQkie If he's father can keep doing it, no worries. It will be stored in the LTM and just needed to be occasionally practiced for better perfection of his memory and you don't know if he has a pictographic memory.
ASIANBOYZPRODUCTION 9 months ago

It's all genes!
mc0558 10 months ago
My brother started reading at 2. He was able to memorize things at a young age- planets, states, etc but couldn't talk to you- couldn't have a 'conversation' like a typical toddler would. Turns out he has a form of autism called hyperlexia that causes him to learn differently- I wouldn't be shocked if the kid in this video doesn't have a similar syndrome.

just goes to show you why the public school system is so in need of help home schooled kids are smarter!
karenl1234 10 months ago
@karenl1234 depends on the parents, I had a home schooled friend who was MUCH worse than me due to his parents spoiling him.

I think it depends on the parents doing the home schooling. The kids in the documentary "Jesus camp" were clearly missing a science education.

Random thing I have to say : u know how people say kids r never too young to learn sumthin? What about negative #s!? They hid that from me until I was like 10. And also wouldn't it be better for such a little guy to be playin around doing little kid things while he has the chance instead of learning random info?

LIE: This guy has natural intellect at the tender age of 3, by rote memorization spoon fed by his parents.
FACT: Kids learn the most from this age up to 8th grade, thus anything can be taught with proper instruction.
SAD PART: The kid is too busy knowing useless information (for his age) than playing with Power Rangers or watching Sponge Bob.
ALSO: Ever heard of "Little Hercules"? See any similarities?

Parents and teachers can make a big difference by encouraging children to intellectually walk the extra mile. It is not surprising at all that a child can absorve knowledge regardles of their age. Take this quote in consideration:
NOTHING SHOULD BE CONCEALED FROM CHILDREN ON THE PRETEXT THAT THEY ARE LITTLE AND THAT IS TOO EARLY FOR THEM TO UNDERSTAND. Dostoevsky
They can certainly absorbe both knoweledge of good and evil. No different than training a dolphin to amuse or to kill.
ShalomAvenue 1 year ago

@facejobby some also learn differently than others
fav14 1 year ago
@fav14 ya nan learns differently to ya nan
facejobby 1 year ago
@facejobby I'm not sure if I'd lump it with intelligence, but it's definitely a useful characteristic. I have a measured IQ in the 98th percentile or so, but I can't remember anything if I can't tie something logical to it. As a result, my classmates who can just show up and soak in information are much more successful in classes like history and biology.
SuperJew2D2 1 year ago
@facejobby Huh?
The only noteworthy things to say about this is that intelligence can aid in memorization, and that intelligence doesn't ensure academic success, nor are good grades a proof of intelligence.

No. so shut the hell up. lol
