People seem to be confusing American & other countries style of majorettes/baton twirling to the UK/Englands style of majorettes. 'We' use ALL kinds of equipment for routines (batons, mace, pom poms, ribbon, wheel..), aswell as different styles of marching, leadership, groups (senior etc). Please don't pre-judge on the knowledge you only know from your country.
We normally use 'mascots' as stand ins. Say if a girl is away for a comp we select somebody to take their place then normally mascot them. Different troupes use them in different ways :)
@twirlerkj its seems 'mascot' can meen all different things as where i do majorettes, there is always one mascot and they basically get marked like the leader/drum!! funny, eh?
@lorwaaaaaa Majorettes twirl batons. Dancers and Cheerleaders use pom poms. So they are Dancers. They aren't bad, they just aren't technically majorettes. Thats all I'm saying. ;-)
these are majorettes, majorettes use batons and pom pons. they are technically majorettes and i no because i am also in a majorette troup and see them at alot of compititions i go to because we are usually against them. they are very good though :)
@hbaker77 This is how majorettes in England dance. I was up against this team and they are really nice girls. We also do this kind of majorettes its called Dance catorgry on majorettes. and i think they even won with this routine if i remember rightly. Our troupe do the same. You are thinking f milatry majorettes that just march around. yes some troupes do that but not all troupes.
