@jackrusselsrulz The smaller birds are so much more fun than macaws. Macaws require so much work. :0. Yes, I speak from experience. I have 1 quaker, 1 macaw and 1 amazon. small, med, and large... The smallest is very entertaining...the larger they get. The more work, and you can't take them as many places. :-0

Wow, what a beautiful bird. The way he took to you was just amazing. There will always be cheaper or more expensive birds...I think if you can find the bird that is perfect for you, then it doesn't matter how much it cost you. It's always worth it to get a bird/pet you love and have a bond with.
my sun conure was 750$ at petco, plus the 350$ birdcage and everything else they need. and a trip to the vet isnt easy on the wallet either. but its so worth it, such great pets!!

NO. you should NOT go to breeders. There are reputable rescues in the lower mainland that have birds that are desperately in need of loving homes. The rescue won't lie to you about what your bird will demand of you just to make a sale and will make sure that you are a good home. greyhaven in the lower mainland and f.i.d.s. in chilliwack.
This was the PetCo in Washington, DC. If you really want to get a sun conure, however, I recommend you find a reputable breeder. Pet stores are notoriously risky places to buy birds, and Rudy had some health problems when I first got him (though luckily he's okay now).

Well I'm saying because that PETCO has apparently been trainnig their birds if your friend is already making the bird lie on its back! That takes alot of training and trust. Not only that but it looks pretty darn clean in there.
My PETCO, as in where I work is a piece of shit, honestly. My general manager doesn't care about the animals and never is in for work while my small animal specialist doesnt even take care of the animals and then theres about 4 co-workers who have no idea about animals and yet are on the floor 'helping' customers. I can go on, really but that'll take too long.
My PETCO is as bad as it can get, but thats just with customer service, another PETCO by me is just plain discusting and fly covered with dead animals in the tanks, even after several over nights... Again this is from a workers perspective...
Where do you live at, where it is that bad. If it was local I would love to go work there and change it because animals deserve better. I can't belive someone who wants to be a manager at a pet store wouldn't care, that makes me sad :(

He is me... and YES! Yesterday first thing in the morning (ie noon) I ran down to the pet store and put my deposit down, saving the bird for me. When I told the manager I couldn't believe someone else hadn't snapped him up already, he responded, "The bird doesn't act that way for anyone else. He loves you."
