  • an absolutely splendid post mandolinda6 ,love it very much,

  • Linda! I miss you a lot! :)

  • Love this beautiful song

  • When I listened to the Flying Column sining this I could still hear Ronnie and Roy "The October winds lament Around the castle of Dromore Yet peace is in her lofty halls A pháiste bán a stór" I wonder why there's only one line of Gaelic in it? We'll probably never know . Great song "whateffer" :-)

  • @UISTMAN59 there is in fact an entire irish version of it: friend of mine from Cape Breton found it for me: I\ll see if I can dig up the lyrics.

  • @Filidhe Thanks.

  • @UISTMAN59 its possible there is no english translation or the irish just seemed to be the right way to do it.

  • @ODONNOVANROSSA Maybe :)

  • @ODONNOVANROSSA there is an english translation - "her pale children, her treasure", i imagine thats a literal translation and something is a little off as per usual but there you go :) the irish sounds better

  • Many thanks!!
