  • how did he die

  • @crazydasiy16 - its called forceful horsemanship.... sadly thats how lots of top horse riders get to where they are today. And im not shooting down the pony, i'm shooting down the trainer.

@AurasVestale - first of all you make no sense, so i pretty sure your the one failing

  • @wdfrider the O'Conner's are advocates for the Parelli method, which is supposed to be based on not using extensive force. My preference is to use many different methods, but thought I'd throw it out there.

  • wdfrider - just shut up and dont shoot down on the pony. He was a great horse. If his headset was fake, would he have gotten so far?

  • what a fake headset!! disgusting

  • @wdfrider So I can assume that I know your horse's name and he does better than this horse ever did? Go troll elsewhere because you fail at it.

  • Oh my god watching this made me feel a little bit better about my life. Even the great eventers have shit moments. :) Love the O'Connors, loved Teddy. Nice to know they had their moments, too, though.

  • all i saw was a womman jabbing the hell out of a horse!

  • The pony is amazing all the rest of the time, he just wanted time to have fun ;) and yeah it was the riders fault too!

  • i think the pony isn´t bad the rider is bad. if the rider doesn´t make any mistakes the pony wil listen to you and doesn´t anything wrong. horses won´t hurt you or anything else. unless he has pain, than he goes to make clear he has pain. or the rider is pulling to hard on the reins and kicked to hard in the belly.

    but this is my opinion..

  • @TheDytje The rider is an Olympian and has been riding for twice as long as you've been alive. The pony hesitated before entering the ring and when Karen asked him to canter he had a tantrum.

  • @TheDytje im glad you have had such sensible horses. Not all are as mild- mannered though

  • I think its important that people who are striving to move to higher levels of riding see even the best horses and riders can have bad days and are not perfect. The better you are , the fewer bad days you have and the better you can deal with them.

  • I've known small horses to have very strong opinions. =D

  • He was beuatifull horse!!! they should have made his breyer horse a little better tho :/ But any way he was amazing !! :D

  • sorry am i missing the point teddy was amazing

  • @ValleYaBoy123 Then keep an eye out for his two brothers, both of whom are working their ways up the levels. Cooper is 14.3h and going Prelim at age 6. Coda is 14.2 and at Training level, age 5. I just posted a video of Cooper (search for "Fosters Bold Favorite") jumping a decent-sized grid.

  • @ValleYaBoy123

Are you responding to what I wrote? I just thought you'd be intrigued to see how well his brothers jump, too. I just posted a couple of videos of them doing four feet (search for "Theodore al Coda" and "Fosters Bold Favorite." Coda is 14.2h and Cooper (FBF) is 14.3h.

  • @ValleYaBoy123 0:23 He jumped a few times and swung his head around. Other than that, a good performance.

  • @ValleYaBoy123 well he kind of freaked our in the ring and when you're at that level it could cost you a lot

  • There are no bad horses. only bad riders.

  • RIP Teddy. You will be forever missed.

  • Dear Theodore wasn't being naughty at all--he just thought it was time for the cross-country!

Miss him--thanks for the funny video!

  • Oh, Teddy x) What a great horse.

  • Haha, I love seeing the greats have spunky moments, makes me feel better about my horses having their off days!

  • Haha cheeky little thing ;] x

  • I <3 this horse

  • know this feeling all too well..my horse does pretty much every test we do ahah! good to see it still happens at the top ;)

  • aww. teddy was so cute and such a sweetheart. you could tell when he was competing with karen that he loved doing it, even when he was a little crazy (like this video :) ). he was so special and he's missed <3

  • rip

  • he was not big at all actually he was a pony soo ya...

  • @blueventer i think you mean small pony with a big heart ;p

  • HAHAHAHAHA LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL :D

  • oh my god, a horse who do not want to work without any non asked-move.. (and work and work and work....) horrible terrifying thing... but when will people leave animals in peace ? these is NOT natural behaviour of a horse....

  • @carmencru lol

  • @carmencru Carmen, the idea of dressage is to train and 'magnify' the natural movements of the horse and rider. I agree with you that extreme dressage techniques such as rolkur are wrong, but here Teddy is being ridden in a very fair and 'soft' way. He is just having an off day, like all people (and horses!) do :)

  • Ginners are winners. <3

  • Teddy wasn't in the mood for dressage this day!

  • Where was he bad ?

  • @sOowtoxiik he jumped in

  • not sure but i think his head throwing is because of the wind could be wrong though just noting that he tosses his head almost everytime when you hear the wind not every time just almost every ^~^ no helping it really

  • @LittleMustangMare his score was almost 40 points worse than what he's capable of though haha, i dont think you can chalk all that up to the wind

  • @Camilley88 idk i had a hose that ruined himself cause while we were doing barrels cause he threw his head because of the wind. he slid in the dirt and tore his knee he was able to mend but he couldn't run again. and he had never acted like that cause of wind before so who knows what caused that. so mabey it can be chalked up to coincidince ^~^

  • lol that would suck.

  • opps I Ment small horse with big heart!

  • WOW! i love Theodore O'Connor he was a big horse with a small heart!

  • @Blueventer

Yes, but maybe not for long. "Proven Theory" has the same blood as he (but in a different proportion) and shows similar talent (search for this phrase: Proven Theory over fences), plus there are THREE full brothers of Teddy's who are starting to prove that they have talent, too (D.C. al Coda and Kevlar have a few videos on YouTube, I think; Cooper doesn't).

  • @pwynnnorma oh come on theo was unspeakable words, and i love him

  • @Blueventer other way around..........

  • @Blueventer did you mean he was a small horse with a big heart?

  • @Blueventer i think you mean a small horse with a big heart ;)

  • @Blueventer you mean a small horse with a big heart? haha :P

  • @Blueventer You mean... a small horse with a big heart, right? :)

  • @Blueventer u mean small horse with big heart i hope, if not ur just an idiot

  • @Blueventer I believe you mean a small horse with a big heart.

  • @Blueventer other way round buddy

  • @Blueventer A big horse with a small heart? I think you have it the wrong way round..

  • @Blueventer Ummm he wasnt a big horse, he was only 14.1hh thats not big at all

  • @Blueventer I think you mean small horse with a big heart ;)

  • @Blueventer Don't you mean "Small horse with a big heart"? :)

  • @Blueventer ...you mean small horse with a big heart?

  • @Blueventer other way around :P lol

  • @Blueventer dont u mean small horse with a big heart?

  • Wow i love Theodore O'Connor! wasn't he only small for competing that hight?

  • It looked to me like they were supposed to canter into the ring but he broke into a trot JUST before entering and didn't like being asked to pick up the canter again. Other than that and the little canter step in the beginning I didn't see much wrong but I'm no dressage expert

  • Yeah, i know what you mean. I have a pony I love to death, and is amazing at home, but at shows, always seems to find somthing to mess up :) Luv u teddy!

  • he was trying to buck didnt u see that? (resonse to rodeogirl141)

  • Why are you saying that he was a bad pony? He was a great pony and that is just rude to say to little girls that love him!!!! Like me!!!!!!!!!!

  • @rodeogirl141

I appreciate how much you cared for him, rodeogirl141, and agree that he was special. The title I gave to the video isn't meant to be interpreted as criticism or scolding, but rather as a joke between those who understand--like I think you probably do--that, sometimes, no matter how great they are, they can also be quite naughty!

  • @pwynnnorman

    sorry

  • @rodeogirl141 on this particular date....he was being a bad pony, it has no reflection on Teddy whatsoever as a whole. It's not rude, it's the truth. Teddy will always be loved and never forotten. xx

  • R.I.P. TEDDY!!! I LOVE U!

  • Wait, where's the "bad pony"?!

  • amateursuspiritwolf, a lot of dressage tests start with cantering down the center line, not trotting. aside from that when you are at the level of this rider then you can find fault.

  • hes not bad hes fricken amazin

  • Lol it'd be that spunk. Endearing really. I love it. I like his very red chestnut color. It complements the dressage uniform amazingly

  • RIP Teddy. How we miss you. Rolex will not be near as fun to watch with out you there to cheer on.

  • just goes to show even the best have bad days

  • ha ha ! thats funny. wow he was an amazing little horse!

  • as for her never having another horse of that quality....don't try to predict the future. this person is a very, very good breeder with a great eye for horses.

  • "in some places that will get you disqualified". Not really, nothing in the rules about jumping over the fence to get into the dressage ring, it happens. As for the 'bad' stuff - they do things like that when they are that fit.

  • be thankful to have an animal of that high quality - you will prob. never get another!

  • I absolutely agree with you, Sainglain! He gave me my 15 minutes of fame, and that's all I could ever ask (although I do feel blessed to also have quite a few exciting siblings and other relatives to keep me occupied, some of whom I adore for the same persnicketty reason Ted gave me to adore him during these silly antics!)

  • @pwynnnorman Did you own him at one point then?

  • That happened to me the first time I went to a dressage show!! lol!

  • What a naughty lil bugger <33

  • okay im confused..was he saposed to jump over that?

  • @rachmax98 No, in some places that can cause disqualification.

  • RIP teddy

may you be in our hearts forever.

my favorite of all ponies, may he rest in peace with all his buddies in the big green field in the sky.

  • what the hell was so bad about that? the title is so wrong

  • Because in Dressage you are supposed to trot down the center line, come to a halt, then salute to the judges. But as in this video, the horse decided to jump the side of the ring, canter to the center, then stop.

  • oh lord.

can you guys take a joke?! The poster of the video is his BREEDER. She OWNED him. She loves him and worked with Karen. She would never criticize either of them. She's using sarcasm, as you would if your pony did this in your dressage test. Good god, you people are illiterate.

pwynnnorman- This is such a cute video. It shows Teddy's character. May he rest in peace. <3

  • @Eventers4Life226 ohhh ok i didnt know that so when i saw the title i was like what the heck! but thx

  • ok guys seriously stop hating the pony.

Atleast he made it to Rolex.

    And so wat

    he has a little spunk.

I just think he tried his hardest and did a fantastic job for a pony.

  • TEDDY WAS NOT DUMB! You should take a lesson from him!

  • VERY fancy pony i love him!

  • Yes, you should ask the pony what he is thinking of his rider!!!!

  • someone got up on the wrong side of the stable!

  • lol yah

  • No, David is riding.

  • I agree with both, The rider could have not pulled on the reins so much. Yes I know he is a great rider, I saw him ride once and i was VERY impressed but that does not even make him perfect. No rider is perfect. Plus this is what alot of horses do. But that does not mean you call them a bad pony, okay sometimes, but still, the rider should have not been pulling that hard on the bit, and no i'm not perfect and i know that.

  • collection is the key bad karen DOES have a habit of holding the horse too tight. They have said that a few times, same with the critiques.

  • @ShesnaVolz This is actually karen, not david lol. And make sure you know who YOURE talking to, the person who filmed/posted this was Teddy's owner. She was in no way insulting him. Ponies are naughty sometimes, and this is a prime example, that's all. No need to get so defensive.

  • This is the most beatiful horse ever and who are u to be critcizing

  • XD Do you know who you're criticizing?! This is Karen O'Connor and Teddy O'Connor! This is Karen and Teddy, both of whom are champions! This is no amature rider, this is a proffesional and a record-breaking pony!!!!!!!

  • @moonhowl977 pwynnnorman knows, she owned him :)

  • @moonhowl977 Chillax. This is not the real Theodore O, Conner. I know because he's DEAD already so dont get anyone hype about this DIFFERENT Theodore O, Conner k? Not tryin to be rude just givin you advice and the truth.

  • @416tayjay This is the real Theodore O'Connor. Did you not look at the link in the description? Incase you couldn't tell, this video was posted in March of 2008 and he died in May. Unless I'm wrong, this is him. Looks like him, and the link talks about him. I don't remember much of this conversation because it happened a YEAR ago, but this is him for sure.

  • @moonhowl977 Ok but may I ask, why would a great horse that is known for a record breaker thouroughbred would be in a dressage course. May I recall my satisfaction for acknowledging that Thouroughbreds would not be qualified as a dressage horse in case you dont have the right facts.

  • @moonhowl977 Also his complimation is too heavy to be a thoroughbred too.

  • @416tayjay What are you talking about? I'm positive this is THE Theodore O'Connor. He's only like half Thoroughbred, plus he's a pony.

  • @moonhowl977 Think about this. Some people are so stupid so they name their horses after a famous race horse. His complimation is too heavy to be a Thourouhbred so he is a Dutch Warmblood. And Thouroughbreds absoulutly dont compete in dressage. I am just a horse geek and that is all I know about this one horse.

  • @416tayjay Okay, he's not full Thoroughbred. And also, Thoroughbreds compete in dressage ALL THE TIME. Click the link in the description! It talks about Teddy! This is him!

  • @moonhowl977 Oh. I neva new that. Woops. Sorry. Lolz. I dont know what I was thinkin the whole time that is Teddy O, Conner!

  • @416tayjay Haha....yeah...so, anyways, he's wasn't full Thoroughbred, and Thoroughbreds DO do dressage all the time.

  • @moonhowl977 Do you think he is an Thoroughbred cross Akele-teke?

  • @416tayjay He's 3/4 Thoroughbred, 1/8 Arabian, and 1/8 Shetland

  • @moonhowl977 Wow. Very mixed breed!

  • @416tayjay Yep

  • @416tayjay he's 1/2 TB, 1/4 Shetland and 1/4... darn i forget now. QH or welsh

  • @416tayjay there's no such thing as "complimation". i think your looking for "conformation"

  • @1nikomi Yeah, thats what I meant. Thanks! :)

  • @moonhowl977 He's deceased now, but your right he was quarter shetland as well and only stood at 14.1hh

  • @pompous21 Yeah, I know he's deceased. :( And yep, it was amzing to watch him cover those courses at such a small height :)

  • @416tayjay i think you're thinking of a different horse. Theodore Oconner was a TBx used for eventing. And he is not too heavy for a TB, certainly far too light for a WB

  • not bad at all!!!!!!!!

  • R.I.P. Teddy <33

  • wat a brilliant recovery

  • o and i just left a comment calling him theo..i meant teddy haha my bad little man!

  • Rest in peace Theo!!

  • lol he doesn't know that.

lol go over to england you'll see lots of ponies that aren't even that nice who can do that. I can name at least one who belongs to my friend there.

  • Im not trying to be rude but i dont thin your friends pony evented in rolex.. ScottyCF101 wasn't saying theres not many pony who can do that to be rude there are other ponies who can but not a lot who were going to go to the olympics your friends pony might be able to jump i dont know 3'6 courses butt hats not rolex or the olympics.

  • In england there is a pony called King. I ride and know him. He cannot be trusted but can do this. Mini but mighty.

  • not evry horse is perfect, the best one WILL have a slip up evry now and again. Their still prey animals and will spook.

  • Not his fault. He's NOT a bad pony. God no. Bless his soul! Plus, he wasn't the best dressage pony. He was more a jumper.

  • horses are not perfect

  • They're as perfect as God comes.

  • I am so sad for Teddy. Got his Breyer model. I hate bears. Long live the horses, down with the bears or whatever scared 'em.

  • How is that bad? Haha, he did one mistake?

  • he made more than one mistake. he started acting up when she made her first turn too

  • ... He didn't slip on concrete and break something and have to be put down? I read a magazine[young rider or something] and it said he was in his pasture, he slipped and broke his leg... Thats what I hear anyways.

    He's so beautiful...A pony to drool over :) ♥

  • Actually, he was being hacked by Max, while Karen rode Mandiba. BOTH horses suddenly got very upset (they think it was a bear). Max to get off Teddy to lead him back to the barn. Karen stayed on Mandiba. Teddy still managed to break way from Max(meanwhile, Mandiba nearly ran into a tree with Karen). He ran back to the barn and slipped on a metal grate that sliced his hind leg, almost to the bone. A vet was there within minutes. First from shock, then from humane treatment, he felt little pain.

  • @pwynnnormanHe spooked at something while being ridden and bolted. The horse ran toward the barn. He got into an accident and slid into the side of the barn and lacerated his right hind leg the fetlock on the back of the leg he severed deep flexor tendons, ligaments, cut both branches of the arterial blood supply, and nerves.Experience with injuries like this are that the chances of reattaching the vascular supply and nerve supply and reattaching the tendons and ligaments was zero

  • no, pwynnorman is correct. i have met karen, david and max and the story is correct. i was unexpected and unfortunate

  • Colic should be eradicated from the face of the earth, it's killed do many horses and ponies.

  • lol, teddy' was a lil' more of a cross country man, but he was SUCH a great pony. aww, RIP

  • That sucks! RIP Teddy :)

  • haha wait did he jump over the side?? The old show pony i ride does that kinda. If im in a show with more then one ring showing but with one announcer, if im like jumpng and he hears the announcer for the other ring say like trot or sothing she will stop and it gets kinda annoying thats shes soo obediant!!!

  • he didnt jump out, otherwise they would have been eliminated =]

  • my horse does that , we canter then we trot , and he starts cantering when i dont ask him!

  • Naughty little pony! But he is gorgeous!!!

  • he is so pretty! i wish i could c u! r.i.p

  • What a naughty pony! But he's drop dead. jaw dropping gorgeus in looks and style! <3

  • I hate having a bad dressage test at the begining because I feel nervous for the rest of it. R.I.P Teddy. Xx

  • He Wasnt Bad Just Hyper Bless Him

  • a pony his size hass got too have some spunk to do that level! he was truly an amazing pony! rest in peace<3

  • I MISS TEDDY!! He was my fav.!!

all the good horses go away,

    RIP Teddy

  • He was SUCH a cheeky little fellow! Bless his heart. RIP Teddy!

  • I hate that Teddy died.:(

I'm gonna miss him this year.

  • ah what a naughty boy he was that day. :]

so cute though, that bad streak all ponies had. :] lol ponies have always been my favorate to ride.

It is so depressing how he went. He's still in a lot of our thoughts though. :]

  • not a bad pony at all okay. this pony is a legend and will never be forgotten. every horse has it's moments and i'm sure little Teddy was just fed up with that rider. he was always so amazing with Karen.

  • Ya'll know what happened to him right?

  • sorry no..can you tell me??

    xxxx

  • He spooked with a lesson rider on him and ran into the barn slipping on the concrete and severing something they had to put him down.

  • No he did not! Max was leading him when Karen was riding her other horses. Both horses spooked at something (they think it was a bear) and Karen was nearly ran into a tree. Teddy got away from Max, and slipped on a metal grate, slicing his leg near to the bone.

  • I just said what I read in practical horsemen. Relax.
