Hi. I'm one of those obsessive people out there who likes "Phantom".
You are AMAZING. You sing VERY well. However, there are a few things you can do to improve. First off, as ALW himself puts it, you need to put yourself in the place of the Phantom. You need to imagine that you are, in fact, singing to the most beautiful woman you have ever seen. Emotion IS necessary for the song to "take flight", or else it doesn't sound right. Secondly, the high A flat "BE!" is forte. Great job, though...
You really do have a great voice; very mature and professional.
I too am a singer, and if you don't mind, I'd like to say that I think you should swap the intensity of your voice on 'soar' and 'be', respectively...the two high notes. 'Soar' (in my humble opinion) should float like your 'be' did, and 'be should have the intensity you gave 'soar'.
Perhaps you sang them the way you did on purpose, and pondered these options prior! But just saying.
yep dude, as i suspeted, another brill performance! i'm not going to criticise you cos tbh my opinion is irrelavant and i have no expert training myself so it would be hypocritical to do so:)
Hey man, I've been watching several of your videos and think you are tremendously talented. I only have one bit of criticism. You hvae a fantastic voice and we would like to hear more of it, so try working on your breath supoort a little. You seem to almost be getting winded on some of the longer notes. Good luck.
Wow, that was a whole lot better than I expected! As others have commented, your diction sounds a bit clipped and you could've modulated your volume more... but you managed to hit all the notes, which is incredibly difficult. For something that was recorded on a whim, excellent stuff.
That was brilliant, and thats coming from the hardest to please Phantom Phan. This is yet more proof that the Welsh make the best Phantoms- John Owen-Jones, Peter Karrie and now you!
ah right, thanks... I guess. I do have the ability to use dynamics, that would be foolish to do otherwise. This was simply a concert performance of the song, I was not THE PHANTOM. It was simply me singing the score. Thank you.
As "ChicThespian" below said, part of the beauty of this song is the varying volumes and tone which portray the emotions that the guy is feeling at the time. However, having said that, you do have a great voice. Well done.
You have great voice mate, you really do. But the phantom is more of an actors role than a singers if you see what I mean. Michael Crawford was in my opinion the best phantom because although he didn't have the greatest of voices, the emotional qualities that he invoked into the songs made them all the more moving.
Have you ever seen Ron Bohmer (think that's spelled right) perform the role? The bigget trick with Phantom is for him to portray the role in such a way that you realize he got what he deserved, but so that you also feel immensely sorry (pity) him. Ron hit that perfectly! If you ever find a vid, check it out.
Oh, and Aracind, AWESOME job, bro! Keep it up, and I'm sure I'll be seeing we'll be seeing you on broadway soon. >:-)
I love your voice, but the song is supposed to sound somewhat... mystical and unreal. You sang it more.. clipped, most of the time. "Only then can you belong to me" and "Touch me, trust me" were my favorite parts because they weren't strong and loud; they were more focused on the emotion in your voice. Still, though, you have an incredible instrument!!
