All the bashing is proof of how brainwashed and conforming society can be. Amanda doesn't look like the next dime a dozen pop princess and doesn't auto tune a mediocre song about fucking and being hot written by some washed out ghostwriter. She's an artist, creating REAL music and REAL beauty and REAL meaning. Shes a REAL person not some commercial manufactured diva. @LN1992 when an artist compares her own self to people... one can generally assume she feels herself to share something with them. In this case, Amanda Palmer put herself, Madonna, and Lady Gaga in the same category. I would not have, but once she, herself, made that comparison, and admitted admiring things about those fine ladies... It feels like I now have permission to do the same.

Personally, I think that you can't damn her singing as bad purely because it's not the same as the stuff you hear so frequently. As an artist, not a entertainer, she's entitled to sing in whatever way fits the song. Ultimately, although you're entitled to your opinion, she's not here to serve it - no artist is.

She is a good artist, because she can make it work. People don't drift to her because she's the queen of the scene. They find something in her work. Something about the strange honesty in Palmer's lyrics make them so haunting, and so touching to hear. I think beauty goes beyond a face. I think good music is more than a catchy chorus that is easy to listen to because it doesn't require very much thinking. I think Amanda Palmer is absolutely stunning, and to throw around language like "butt ugly" about an artists appearance is not only shallow but, I personally think, disrespect to art.
