I have the American version of The Last War and this intro isn't part of it. I think Toho created this for their international English version, which was never released in the US, and that's what this trailer is for, too.
This is one of my all-time favorite movies. They really lay on the sentimentality, but its purpose comes across loud and clear, and it's beautifully articulated through the screenplay, acting, cinematography, music, and effects work. There is no nobler message than the one this film has to offer.
This trailer gives a good enough representation of the movie, but I don't care for the announcer's overwrought delivery. Still great stuff, though.

You do realize that this is the international trailer right? Really. This is also the Japanese trailer except with only in English.
