Interesting fact. After the REAL HORSE WHISPERER tamed a mustang in the wild. No fences, complete open spaces. He thought a few years later, what would happen if he reintroduced the mustang back into the wild. Would the horse stay, or go?. He took the horse out and found a wild herd. He then let the mustang go. Two days later, packing up to leave, the wild herd came back. Then out the herd the mustang came toward him, looked at the herd, then walked back to that man. He decided to stay with HIM
They are only 28,000 Mustangs left in the wild down from 2 MILLION in 1900, 1 MILLION in 1980 and the BLM wants to remove 12,000 more in 2011/2012! PLEASE CALL, WRITE and E-MAIL your Senators and demand they support and pass S.1176! The ILLEGAL activities against our Mustangs MUST STOP NOW!!!!! AND THIS BILL WILL ALSO STOP THE NEEDLESS AND INHUMANE SLAUGHTERING OF ALL EQUINES!! Here in America WE THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN, WE WANT COMPANION RIGHTS FOR OUR HORSES!!
Wow...thank you for sharing this beauty with me! I'd never seen that movie, and I knew what the man was going to do when I saw his eyes change. So wonderful an ending, and horses really do communicate with us like that...I know firsthand. They should not be slaves and should never be slaughtered...no animals should...humans should be above that, in my view. Thanks again Whitepine.
i could watch and watch it again! these feelings are so special. i wish everybody could understand them.. the last scene in hidalgo was just wonderful; its own meaning was.. okay, i can't even describe it! thanks whitepine!

Ok I am totally CRYING!!! I have a beautiful Mustang and they are the most loving and loyal horses!!! I love my little guy so much!!! This was a fantastic video....
The bond my Mustang and I have is so great it will never be broken. Our first week on the job as a wrangler for a outfitter in Bob Marshall Wilderness, MT we just made camp and it was time to turn all 35 mules and horses out for the night. 5 minutes later my boss started yelling at me to head off my mustang because he was at a full run through camp heading toward home 33 miles away. I yelled at him to get his attention, he stopped dead in his tracks, trotted toward me and the rest is history
I let my horsego free.I didn't want her to go,but when I was in Mount Vernon,I saw her at that little carral where they let you ride on them.it was sad to see her in there.
Well, what you guys talkin about 2months ago has a new twist. Just read the news 12/29/09 that the BLM just rounded up 2500 mustangs because of over population. That being the case and instead of turning them heritage of USA into dog meat. I would like to adopt them all and bring them here to the Philippines. Wrote to the BLM just this morning and awaiting their response.
Thank You for Sending WhitePine-Frank Hopkins is One of My Heros! -If yous Have Missed this Movie-Please See-It is Heart Moving and Beautiful--We Were Meant to Be with Horses-not CArs !!!!
and sure they didnt come from the wild but they where made for the wild!! look at the pics on here wat do u see more joy in the horse face in a pasture in a little neighborhood or the joy on wild free mustang roaming the land free and graceful.
we have about 75 FERAL horse on our land and lease this year..they are in pretty good shape, we've had 2 mild winters now..this year is gonna be a big 1 i think, these "wild" horses are gonna starve and die like ANY OTHER DOMESTIC ANIMAL LEFT ALONE OUT IN NATURE TO FEND FOR ITSELF.
not to mention they are tearing up the land something feirce, they are extremly distructive and i will be doing my best to catch them and remove them before they starve this winter...u people are sick!
Then why do you insist on leasing the wild horses' land if you find them so distasteful? If you want them removed, just call BLM and they will relieve you of the problem and I'm sure a lot of people would be happy to have those horses. Horses can be pesky as they always find a way to survive - just like people. I wonder if BLM would remove those nasty feral rednecks who tear up my land something fierce with their ATVs?
its not blm its national forest and if u want these horses come get em pal cuz when i catch them they're going striaght to market..can u say alpo and elmers
and as far as ur racial slurs go "redneck" i see ur about as ignorant about how to act civilized to other humans as ur animals and nature.
just becuase an animal can survive in the wild doesnt mean it should be allowed to..by ur opinion if a poodle could be let out of the pound and it survied we should call it a wild poodle right? lol
Hey, pal, I am a redneck, for your information. You slug mustangs and you might very well end up in prison. Did I tell you I also do a lot of work with the BLM? I deal with low-lifes who think they can just kill mustangs and get away with it. They never get away with it. They get caught sooner or later.
for ur info pal, i know the law, i know they are protected because of the free roaming horse and burro act of 1959, i also know and have read this law and all the case logs pertaining to it...if a horse or burro is on ur land or lease then estray laws of ur state apply, sure u cant kill them, but in this state pal u can catch them and take them off to market, which is exactly what im gonna do and there isnt a damn thing u or any other bleeding heart can do about it so :P lol
and GD u work for the BLM?...man thats scary shit there! anti rancher, pro wild horse guy in our blm! jesus whats this world coming too...well atleast for the most part on our BLM leases we dont have to deal w/ knuckle heads like u lol or wild horses, since they got rid of those here on our blm lands in the 90's bout 3000, they where smart thinkers, those poor horses where dying in droves starving to death, they where also threating to destroy the habitat of some rare endangered species here.
You haven't lived until your ridden a wild mustang hell bent for leather across an open field. There's nothing like it. Just chuck the reins to the horse and let it go. It's the closest thing to flying without leaving the ground. God would not permit the world to exist without horses.
no such thing as "riding a wild mustang" what u might do is "ride a feral horse u caught and broke" however as far as that being a great deal?? most the "wild" mustangs i see are sorry hammerheaded sway back nags fit for only the likes of a beginner or kid pony..which they do make pretty good ones they are typically dumb as a post too..
hate to burst ur romantic notion bubble but ive been around these FERAL horses all my life
You obviously don't understand the definition of 'feral' and you apparently don't understand horses. Feral indicates "having reverted to the wild state, as from domestication". IOW, 'feral' indicates a specific individual that has reverted to a wild or natural state. A 'ferral' cat is a cat (an individual cat, that is) that has been set out wild. Mistangs are not 'feral' in the definition of the word 'feral'.
ferral horses, dog, cats, pigs, all the same godamn thing, they are all DOMESTIC animals that got loose, and yes they went "wild" but are they wild? no they are not natural or native to this land, they are made by man and should be cared for by man, not set out to fend for themselves and "survive" as u put it, i call it suffer, destroy natvie habitat, and spred disease, but of course i try to look at things w/o romantic notion goggles call me crazy
Oh, BS. If it wasn't for the environmentally early 'Native Americans" eating horses, the Spaniards wouldn't have needed to reintroduce them. [/sarcasm] Humans spread disease - perhaps they should be eliminated too? OK, all twisted humor aside, I am a professional horseman and I particularly like horses that have the savvy to survive despite the ignorant desire to turn them into McDonald's and Burger King entres.
redneck my ass, ur a leftwing pinky i from what i can tell...ur probably for putting wolves back, gun control and ill bet u voted for obama huh? lol.....just hackin on ya fella, dont take it to heart lol
Tears also came to my eyes watching this video. Just as I watched Dances with Wolves again after seeing your Fire Dance, now I will again watch Hidalgo. Thanks so much for bringing these magic moments back to us.

The end of Hidalgo is one of the most moving and poignant finales in movie history.Amazingly simple and simply amazing.Knowing how few mustangs are left makes it somewhat difficult to believe, that there used to be so many.Like the bison before them,we couldn't leave well enough alone.Thanx Whitepine.
@Taranau Hidalgo was given to him by the plains natives that welcomed him with open arms into thier tribe the generals didn't understand thier ways bc it was so different from thier own. such a sad day it was :(. just goes to show u noone can know peace unless we understand eachother and hold hands in unity with ourselves and with nature i'm glad thier under protection status along with bison maybe one day the land will recover enough to where they can roam freely on thier own turf
