As for the war, it is all on bush and his administration, and history will show that.

As for the hate charge, study after study shows that negative campaigning is much more effective than positive, so "hate" news will always have more viewers, because it's so simplistic.

There's a difference between being a Republican and being a conservative. One is a PARTY and the other is an ideology. So while most conservatives are of the Republican party they don't have to, just like you have conservative independents and liberals that are republicans.

Schwarzenegger, Specter, Buchanan, McCain and Bush are some examples of non-conservative Republicans. Shep Smith, while I don't know his exact belief, he seems more on the liberal side.

I mostly agree. But I also think you're over-simplifying the conservative argument and it never was just about the economy.

Classical Conservatism is essentially asking the government to stay out of the economy but also provide moral backing. So when they say "smaller government" it refers to the economic side of things, not moral.

The founder of it, Edmund Burke, believed that a government needs a liberal economy but also roots in traditions and religion, or there would be chaos.

Which is why I believe modern liberalism is dysfunctional. It just took the balance of smaller government in economic areas and bigger government in the moral areas then just flipped it around. It wants moral "freedom" but also says that the economy needs to be controlled.

To me, conservatism has worked in this country, the founders used Burkian principles; the idea of staying out of the economy but also being a moral society.
