  • Great video, What is the name of the black is it (black gloss)?I plan on using the krylon fusion on my plastic grille, but I want to make sure it has a nice glossy look to it.How did it come out after the rest of the coats?

  • @FrankRizzo762 I actually used satin black, not gloss black. If they have gloss black, I'm sure it'll come out nice, as well.

Actually, what happened, and didn't make it into my description, is that it was windy, and the wind blew the badge over onto the wet side of the paint, on the asphalt. It didn't pick up any dirt (I can't figure out why) so I sprayed some more paint on to try and even it out. I ended up with something of a textured look, which I think actually looks OK.

  • @MercedesDieselGuy What grit sand paper did you use?And did you apply any clear coat?Along from the looks,I really want it to hold up for awhile through washing it and weathering, rocks.

  • @MercedesDieselGuy Sweet vacation are always great. Thanks,I actually finished this morning,my grille is looking great.I didn't end up using krylon fusion, instead I used dupi-color match for ford's.I was nervous that the krylon gloss wasn't going to match, but it's turned out just the way I wanted it to.Now it's just a matter of time when the first chip will happen lol,but for 20 bucks I can't complain.I'll be posting some pics on lincolnvscadillac(.)com soon,.Appreciate your help.

  • @FrankRizzo762 If I change my mind, I can always re-sand and re-spray. I also painted my "VANAGON" model badge, for similar reasons. Once again, satin black, and that one came out perfect. Two or three coats in the space of ten minutes or so should do it. Not an exact science. This paint applies pretty easily, though.

    What are you driving?

  • @MercedesDieselGuy Yea your emblem looks really good,it has a nice wet black shine to it,and that's want I want for my grilIe.I have a blac 98 lincoln continental, and I really want to match my grille as close as possible to the paint job.I know using an aerosol spray paint will be harder to get that out of the factory glossy look, rather then getting the actual color scheme of my car from a paint shop and using a spray gun.The body shops want about 200 to paint the grille,I'm not paying that much

  • @FrankRizzo762 Sorry for the delay in reply. I've been on vacation. I think they make the paint in black. I wet sanded with 600 grit, I think. It did a nice job. I think that you should be able to accomplish what you want for under $20 in materials, easy. Best of luck and let me know how it goes.
