  • did he use a closed fist...wow...

  • I have heard that laying down while having the ball, and then sitting up is a travel. Is that true?

  • @daloser09 yes it is

  • @daloser09 unless your dribbling the ball at the same time

  • what about dragging your foot while stopping

  • @zeroturn03 if you're landing in a jumpstop it's no problem

  • you cant shoot when you get a pass and then you make withou a dribble 2 steps..you can only one step or jump instantly where the ball was passed to you..

You can dribble in 2steps only if you starting WITH a DRIBLE!!

In basketball you cant change position WITHOUT dribbling .. so you get the pass and you whant to go for a laying or a figer roll and you are further from the basket you have to /in case you dont whant to jump shot/ dribble first when you feet change positions!

  • @rockerresident not if it's only two steps

  • what if after catching the ball ,you take two steps and lay the ball up..is that traveling??

  • Well, yeah, when you catch the ball, a pivot foot more than likely will be established. But most officiails let it go, as long it's smoothly accomplished.

  • yes

  • no its not...

  • why is ur hand closed .. its a violation

  • U can take two step wen u dribling but then u have to drible

  • No, you can't. That's traveling.

  • Drill*

  • But you stop, you have your pivot foot, then you move and dribl again. Does that count as traveling?

  • Double Dribble

  • "Illegal" dribble.

  • No, if you dribble again it is a double dribble.

  • The official's mechanics are incorrect. You stop the clock signalling a violation with an open hand not a closed fist.

  • lol.. thats funny i was thinking the same thing.

  • yeh i picked this up aswell. a closed fist is a foul signal...

  • Could catch. I keep score for youth basketball and I've seen officials use the closed fist mechanic for a violation.

  • I've worked with officials who just use an open hand for everything, including fouls and they refuse to listen to me. However the most they can get are 8th grade games and a few 9th grade whereas I've moved up to sophomore/varsity. I love officiating glad its that time of year again.

  • Wow, open hand for everything? I bet that confuses the hell out of everybody (at least everybody that knows what the signals mean, lol).
