@ClassicalMonarchism After checking your channel, you seem to be really into England and I respect that. But are you just still a bit bitter about losing that you come onto this video and whine about the US? I am not going to leave you alone because you are not leaving your country's ally alone.
@ibeatcodin1day - If you saw my original comment, I actually love this film. I hold little anguish about the US' fight for independence, yes to their blaming on it on King George III, but not the soul of it. Although there are still many problems I hold about the revolution. I feel anguish toward the US for the most part because of their contemporary foreign policy and unrestrained capitalist culture - not to mention their lack of respect for God's desires.
Great music, but what a great chance they had to make a movie that didn't trivialize the early history of our country...and they blew it. They made the British out to be 18th century Nazis - which they weren't - and a South Carolina plantation where the owner pays all the black folks? Puhleeeease. The causes of the war - and the moral complexities - were all apparently too much for us dumbasses, or so the producers of this movie apparently thought. A shame.
This movie is truly a masterpiece and the music is extremely powerful. Watching it makes me proud to be an American and come from the greatest country in the world. United we stand!
Folks listen, the true genious in a composer is having that god-given ability to write a memorable melody that lasts forever - S. Rachmaninov. John Williams - hands down - falls into this caliber of elite musicians. He will be remembered looooong after he passes away...I'd bet my life and soul on that. Melodies like this are vintage Williams. He's definitely in my top 10 favorite musicians of all time.
Mel's role in this movie and Braveheart are completely identical. Interesting. At first he's a simple farmer in both films who doesn't want to fight. But is later provoked to fight by the death of a loved one. The only difference however, is that in Braveheart Mel dies, here he doesn't.
not quite. i admit both are good fighters, farmers, lovers, guerilla leaders and smart officers, and lovers that lose wives and loved ones. but not quite the same. same situations, but ben martin has a family and is more of a family man and less of a brute. more civilized.
yh but don't forget. He was a brute during the Fort Wilderness campaign. Then he calmed down and had a family. Then he started again as a brute. Its especially evident during the scene when he kills the redcoats after his 1st son dies.
No No NO! Damn it! I haven't seen Braveheart yet and you just ruined it for me. :( Well I guess it serves me right for reading your comment. haha. Is it good at least?
well you cant really be blamed for getting the plot ruined for you, just an accident. i had it worse once, i was watching a vid on the Dark knight, and saw a comment that gave away the fact of rachel dying and the joker surviving before i had seen it. sucked for me. but as to Braveheart, i think its a great epic movie, a classic masterpiece. its not exactly historically accurate, but the history of william wallace is rather cloudy and uncertain. i dont care, though, i think its a powerful film.
Happy 4th of July to America and all you americans. Remember the amazing founding fathers and the brave and resourceful men and women that fought to free our country all those years ago, and made it what it is today. Think of this piece as a slice of our past culture and as a way of taking you back that past over 200 years ago, and remember how far we've come since then.
...And remember France. Americans likes speachs about their great victory in 1945, that would be correct tu underline the French men who fought for America, men leaded by La Fayette, Rochambeau and others...
Without the French help, America wouldn't exist today.

@911TruthSeeker91 I think the bit from 3:40 to 4:00 sounds like the score from Jurassic Park IMHO.
