  • Re: Painting:It looks like the young lady (servant) is presenting different "angels" to her hosts....may it be that she devoted herself to giving birth to a child of theirs or she's presenting children up for adoption to a non bearing couple?

    The music: Just devine!

  • I fell in love with the part 2:52, the harp sounds like an angel playing it ... <3

  • @mikamiteru57 you totally got it...the highlight of this piece

  • I feel like this is the only harp concerto. (even though I know it's not) It's the only one I ever hear played.

  • I do beleive this song is on the movie Intervew With A Vampire! :D <3

  • what is the name of the artist of this curious painting?

  • in one word: delightful

  • is this version played on a triple welsh harp?

I'm trying to find out all the hidden baroque repertoire original for harp.

  • It appears the women are cavorting again

  • What's going on in that painting?

"Ugh, Madame the putti are back. I'll dispose of these ones but you really must call the exterminator again."

  • @Trefellin

    LOL .... :)))) ♥♥♥

  • @Trefellin You can totally tell I watched Power Rangers as a child, because I thought you were referring to what's-her-butt's minions from Season 1... But now that I googled "putti," it makes MUCH more sense, AND it's more hilarious! :D

  • This used to be the signature tune for schools programmes on BBC TV in the 60s. Great to hear it again. Thanks for posting.

  • I love the version that they play in the movie interview with the vampire when lestat tells claudia to play something on a more somber note. the harspicord gives it such a creepy but elegant sound

  • @InperpetuumRequiem Same here.

  • @InperpetuumRequiem . Can you tell me from who the music is that Claudia plays after Lestat tell her to play something on a more somber note.

  • ... i think that one is by Haydn .... ^_~

  • ive never played the harp, but i have heard that it can only in c major. is that true? cause i looked at the sheet music for this and saw that is has two flats... :\

  • @THismydream12 perhaps the kind of harp you are referring to that can play only in c major is a rather cheap (relative to other kinds of harps, at least!) harp sold by harpsicle (not trying to advertise) which is meant for beginners who want to teach themselves how to play the harp, and little children. the 'c major' harp is the most, most, most basic version. after all, who'd want to play a c major instrument day in day out? that would be really boring. i know i'd be bored!

    signed, a harpist

  • @THismydream12

The pedals on modern harps are for tuning. Harps can hit every note. Also the 'cross strung harp' (less common) is entirely chromatic, and can also hit every note.

  • Who are the performers on this please?

  • es preciosa, sobre todo el arpa, es relajante, es alegre, viva, con un fondo transcendental, es sensual, es en definitiva unica, insuperable, inmensurable, me faltan calificativos jejejej. es lo massss..........................

  • 2:48-2:54 is pretty weird; I don't remember parallel 4ths in the score.

  • @guitars2112 they were and have always been there :)

  • I remember this piece from Interview With A Vampire. Always thought it fit that movie real well.

  • how come?

  • Sorry for my lack of intelligence on this subject, but I'm a noobie when it comes to classical music. I heard this composition on the radio today, but it was much longer, and I was searching for the part right before this one. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

  • You may have heard sections from Handel's Water Music, the Bourée or Hornpipe... which belongs to a longer Concerto.

This piece here, Andante, begins a Concerto for harp.

  • this sort of sounds like the third movement as well. U might have heard the largo movement in the middle. idk if you found it yet but i hope that helps.

  • wonderful

  • Es maravillosa, la escucho y mejora mi humor :)

  • I first heard this about 40 years ago when the BBC was running schools programmes and used to play music during intermissions. I'm still stuck by its beauty.

  • Wonderful beyond words; thank you for uploading:-)

  • Thank you for uploading!!! I love this!

  • i wish i was born into aristocracy during the days when Handel would have been performing. I could imagine myself dancing in a music room with my suitor. life in those days must have been so romantic and beautiful for the priviledged!

  • Romantic yes.... and (too) romanticized as well...

  • you're absolutely right. life in those days had a lot of trials and wasn't easy or glamourous. not like the way they depict it in period movies/shows. But there was still something magical about that time, despite the perceived hardships. If i could, i would fly back in time and live there. Until a time machine is invented that is accessible for all to use, i'll carry on in the 21st century. Anyway, cheers for a great upload!

  • Enjoyed your comment. I would totally do the same thing! If I have to paint my soul, that would be a guy in a 18th century dress playing the harpsichord. hehe I'm a composition student, and I would like to have pieces commissioned from the aristocracy, like: "Maestro, compose a Sonatina for my daughter", and me: "What a pleasure, your Highness!". And later back to work in my room with a candle.

    :-)

  • aww how lovely:)

  • @sabersgrrl I appreciate your poetic optimism, but you don't want to get born then. People rarely went to the showers, they struggled with the most basic of diseases, and aristocrats were subjects to many genetic disorders as well, since they were 'mating' mostly among themselves. And yes - they didn't have an opportunity to listen to this beautiful piece of art just by going online any time they want. An average Joe lives better now than the most powerful king of this era. Enjoy your life! :)

  • @sabersgrrl yes, it would be lovely...the ballroom gowns...the medieval setting. I love it.

  • wunderschön

    sehr gut gespielt

  • ach, so schön... fast ZU schön.

  • W*u*n*d*e*r*b*a*r*e*r!!

Ich liebe diese Arbeit von Händel :)

  • i love this piece, it´s my favorite of him...

    specially (2:37 - 3:15)

  • Great piece thanx for upload.
