British pop invasion of the 80's was the finest influx of mood, sound, and fashion. So many bands, so many unique sounds...would be impossible to duplicate...I miss listening to the radio...it's a nostalgic time that can never be repeated or replaced.
@80swerethebest I <3 Radio is pretty cool... They have more music than Pandora and you can create a station that plays 80's tunes... Out here, where I live, there is a radio station that plays 70's and 80's tunes, which is pretty cool, but, like most stations, you keep hearing the same tunes played over and over.
I haven't a clue who Brad f/ home improvement is but I loved (and still love) the way guys did their hair-since we are on the topic of hair opposed to music. Us girls...another story. Crimping-not too cute LOL. Takes a confident man to have hair like that and rock black eyeliner. Great times!
I thought he still had a really devoted following, doing more adult contemporary stuff. Am I wrong? They call him "HoJo", right? (This might sound sarcastic; it isn't. Just fuzzy memory.)
This song reminds me of May of 2000 when I was an intern for Howard Stern and the NYC radio station PLJ played this song every 30 minutes. What a good time that was. !! <3
Now that I have time to sit here and watch this video, Howard reminds me of Jim Carey in the movie the mask. The way he dresses in this video and the great hair style.
I love this song. I used to think he said walk, walk, walk. Needless to say I learned y/day it was Wow wow wow oh, wow wow wow oh oh oh oh LOL
i can't believe it i finally found this song iwas in high school when this this song came out i loved it .. i've been lookn on line for two weeks trying to find this song could'nt remember the name of it. it was one of those 1 hit wonders great song ....loved the 80's
Aw, Howard Jones was not a one-hit wonder! I think he had 3 or four top forty songs (Everlasting Love, No One Is to Blame, Things Can Only Get Better, Life in One Day are the ones that come to mind).
In the UK he had far more success! You've forgotten his earlier stuff like What about New Song, What Is Love, and my personal fave Like To Get To Know You Well, He had 10 top 40 hits, 6 of which were top 10's :o)
Was this Hoawrd's arrangement? Damn it's fine. He's got a great voice. Sounds errily like The Thompson Twins (not that there's anything wrong with THAT!)
Ha, you sound like I did at age 13 back in the 80's when it came to 60's music. Trouble was there was no You Tube. We had 45 RPM singles or would record music off of the radio by holding a tape recorder next to a stereo or had a boom-box with record-radio option. Talk about basic and crude!
Mmmmm............it's a possibility, don't you think?
I'm not given to backlash, normally, but when you go to a page looking to find a wee bit of your youth and some great music, and read the posts of like minded people, it really pisses me off when clowns like that voice up. He should be here to enjoy Howard - nothing else!
Technical note: It might have been both a cop as well as a corrections officer, althought it might just have been a correction officer I refused to dress at the facility after refusing an illegal camping citation
This is crazy! I was 19 when this came out also. Lol! Great freakin' year. Partying with my friends all night, had an awesome girlfriend. Good times... good times
This was very disappointing to me Howard using Trumpets in 1985....I Disgusted it then, after his Synth career in 1984....(Remember Synths and trumpets were not a combination in my eyes). Never are :-( What was he doing then? In fact in 1986....the brass section was gone, and sincethen Howard reminds me to 2009....But where is he now?
This takes me back and makes me sad, despite its message. I used to listen to 80s music with a lot of depression waiting for alt-rock to get here. Go figure. And then there was this guy with his mohawk and his voice and his positive attitude and he mad em sick. Catchy songs though. Life in a Northern Town was good, too.
OMG! I have had the chorus of this song stuck in my head for about two weeks, but I couldn't remember the name or who sang it. So glad I finally found it.
I love this song it's one of those songs that makes you feel good when you hear it and then when you actually listen to the lyrics makes you feel even better.... things can only get better
hehe boy does this bring back memories. I was just a little tyke when this song came out, and I remember the big black Magnavox boombox we had in the kitchen...my mom, who was 26 at the time, loved this song..seeing her dance around the kitchen in skintight stonewashed jeans and a black and pink leopard print top...sure was fun being a literal child of the 80s.
