hi, i have ubuntu 8.04 installed (it is really awesome) but i really want compiz, for some reason it cannot enable compiz as i need to download a third party driver, but when i click on activate the driver, it dont work... :( if i cant fix this then i might need to go back to windows xp, great video btw!!! ;-)
You might want to upgrade. You don't mention what happens when you try to install it, or what your graphics card is?
Essentially, the driver it wants, is the manufactures one. If its ATI you can normally grab them from their website, if its Nvidia then you can also get it from their website.
don't worry about it, i installed windows xp on it, turns out ubuntu cannot install my network adapter, sorry if i wasted a comment on your video lol, i gave it 5 ***** and subbed on it anyway.
Sorry to hear that. There is a new version of Ubuntu coming out soon. I've not taken a look at the Alpha yet but it should be good. Its Long Term Support too so you might want to take a look at it for that too.
thx for the info, i'll check it out, ubuntu is awesome as i got it installed on my netbook now, i must say for a free operating system, it sure kicks ass! and compiz works great!!! =D
When i try to save something on Ubuntu (like flash player) it says that there isn't more space on drive ''/''. How do I change that, so i can save in on another harddrive?
ubuntu is incredible....they sent me a free cd in the mail....it has EVERYTHING! things that never worked in XP on my laptop work on ubuntu! i still havent installed it on my gaming pc....but i cant wait cuz i hate windows 7 and vista
thanks....i really apreciate the fact ubuntu supports more than windows does yet gives the system out for free....thats a really great qualaty and thats why i feel like its my job to try anfd make the best out of it...for some reason my gaming computer...(which i built) wont allow me to change my partition size using ubuntu or even windows....just gotta back up the crap and then ill try and do a fresh install
I have installed Jaunty Jackalope 2 hours after it was out... Wonderful os! Great Work. 35 seconds (inkl. compiz & gnome) to boot. Fastest os ever on my laptop.

For some reason this was my favorite version of Ubuntu ever. 10.04's theme sucks.

Glad you enjoy it, if only more people like you gave it the time of day and didn't rush into buying a new PC the world would be a happier place :D
